I have no idea why this was recommended to me, but I watched every minute. She runs so smoothly, seems almost effortless. And the way she cruises past everyone else. What must they be thinking when she passes them. Amazing
I trust CZcams. I watch what it tells me to watch.
sorry to be offtopic but does anybody know a trick to log back into an instagram account?
I was stupid forgot my password. I appreciate any tips you can offer me!

Doping!!!
Sis really JOGGED a lap in 35 seconds 😭🤩
apparently the laps aren’t 400’s because it’s indoor which is why she’s doing 23 laps not 12-13.
Indoor is 200 meters
@@juliaafox 25 laps, I counted it
@@user-ik4tj3zg9w its 25 laps because of the 200 meter track but in outdoor it would be cut in half because of the 400 meter track
@@juliaafox okay who cares she still did better than any of us could do or any professional
The other girls seem slow by comparison..but to think they are running that distance at the pace they're doing is incredible...!
J up
@Namfonos What? 😂
@Namfonos how would you know
@Namfonos no fat on your thighs doesnt = no period. And i dont understand why that matters anyway, a weird thing to talk about under a track video. And if you look some other girls look the same as her.
That one is a State+scholarship runner
The fact she ran that fast with no competition and having to pass lapped girls the entire time is amazing.
Yes, there was a big fuss in 2022 (April), when she broke the Collegiate 5K, that she had been helped by pacers, but I think the problem was with them being fast enough for her!! because she broke loose with 800m to go, upped the pace substantially, and just flew round the track. Running that much faster for 800 m suggests she didn't need pacers.
When you've got runners to lap it actually helps, it's a target to hunt down.
@@ReverZe83 Definately. I race cross country dirt bikes, can be 800 paid entries, with the skill divisions can have 200-300 riders on the track at same time.
Sooo, they way it works out, with 1 minutes apart starting, from class to class, 1 min delay.
Not sure if that reads right. But the lead line (the fastest avg lap time) class leaves about 20 mins from last line. And these are all Experts and upper Intermediate riders. So there are lappers to pass on the 2nd lap, 3rd lap for sure. Seeing lappers around the course makes a big difference, I've regularily gotten 1-2 minutes faster each lap. 4-5 lap race.
So that's 5 to 10 minutes faster on the last lap.
10 mile course. Avg 35-45 mins per lap.
@@SuperChuckRaney Yea makes sense for sure, good work, sounds fun 🤙
Whoever ran this FARCE Meet should get Hollow Point in their "F"ing Brain. The lapped non-runners-they look they had Telephone Poles up their Behinds as they pathetically trudged along--SHOULD have been forced into Lane #2. This is a DISGRACE and totally unacceptable. A WORLD CLASS Runner should not have to pass Trash Athletes for 5,000 M!!!!
She makes it look effortless. Just out for a leisurely run, no big deal!
God is good! how can i pray for you? :)))

M, 43 here... fitness enthusiast... she doesnt look to be sprinting... geez, to run a 7 minute mile i have a CHUG my arms and legs
Incredible athlete, most athletes don’t peak till they’re in their twenties, let’s hope she keep improving and doesn’t burn out...
That is def a valid fear. She also most stay away from injury
For sure, injuries almost always spell the end of ones career, especially hip, knee or ankle injuries for runners, and most injuries happen unexpectedly while goofing around, but all good athletes need to diversify their training, incorporating yoga stretching, swimming, etc, but every good trainer should understand this...
@kt updates good to hear, knee surgery...!?!? Perhaps she should concentrate on her studies, her record will stand for along time, like the youngest person to win the U.S.Open till Tiger woods won it at 19...just a thought...
@@tomjohn8733 shes improving and is faster now
@@gee9290 good to hear..🙂
Katelyn was born amazing! But it's not magic, folks- it's damn hard work and sheer guts. Total respect, Katelyn !
Sheer guts and knowing.
genetics play a part
Yea sure. But she’s able to do something most are not simply due to her talent. You can train hard but youre not able to do a 15:37 as a teen girl with just dedication.
@@kalevala29 bro this is a national record. Not a WR
@@samfinnerty7326 this isn't a world record
As a wheelchair user, I can only watch people running. Katelyn's running action or style looks BEAUTIFUL. It looks as if this is jogging and effortless. What a wonderful talent. Oh what a pleasure to watch athletics as fine as this. I understand there have been injuries and COVID which we have worried about for all ages. I do hope Katelyn continues running and youtube captures her success. Go, go Katelyn. Wonderful talent.
Covid19 is not that dangerous, quit watching the news many money making headlines out there. There are many doctors that are on the other side with evidence but know one wants to lisen.
@@SuperYoungblood123 The evidence the 'doctors on the other side' usually looks pretty plausible and convincing on first look, but once you look into their evidence, things start to fall apart. I've seen a ton of evidence using known-wrong data, studies that were carried out without regard to scientific standards (might as well call them biased because the data base isn't usable for the study), or draw conclusions you can't draw from the data they present.
If you look at the hospitals in hotspot regions and ask people who work in an icu, they'll tell you how their situation is. I've read a lot of reports from ICU nurses, doctors, and other staff who actually do work with the covid patients and these people confirm that it is serious. I'll much rather trust people with hands-on experience than those with questionable sources who don't even work with the patients anymore.
It is not that dangerous. The whole thing has been exaggerated. You need only compare it to numbers of others diseases, or respective deaths. About 700 thousand die each year from pneumonia; they should input those number into the COVID deaths, because these people would die anyway. The vast majority os the people of the world did not, and would not get the disease, and most of those who get it, have the same symptoms of an average flu or whatever. But, anyway, it´s all somewhat part of the same idea behind car safety, or any other social safety measure, in terms of diminishing the amount of people getting hurt by things. But the media and propaganda are too intense, the fear factor and psychological hammering of this virus is disproportional to the harm it causes, it has caused, compared to "regular life" harm. It´s just other diseases and accidents don´t get reported in a scrutinized way daily on every minute of every hour.
@dima m which doctors?
@@CzechRiot People forget things really fast...when the movie Jaws came out people started to panic from shark attacks but nobody read anywhere until many years later that bees kill more people yearly than sharks and many other "dangerous" animals...
Can't imagine being in that good of shape.....ever. She's incredible.
What was incredible is that she was so far under the record yet didn't lose form. Stride length and cadence just seemed metronomic and very little tension, very efficient, a joy to watch.
This woman is a machine. She lapped everybody it was no freaking contest. I can't believe it.
The track officials who do not force the slow cows into the second lane for the entire race should have their balls kicked in....
I think she lapped everybody at least 3 times.
This is not a world record
Just announced: To make it fair in the future, Katelyn has to run against horses, and the horses are scared.
This young woman is a joy to see. But I worry about what will happen to her if LBGTQ forces her to compete with young men who "Identify" with being a woman and because of their larger muscle mass, etc. will win, It would seem that every parent who has daughters would hate to see these daughters penalized and possibly lose out on performance scholarships because the "playing field" had been changed.
I could watch this girl run all day. What a fluid, flowing style she has!
I swear, it looks like Tuohy is sprinting the whole time.
It actually looks like she’s doing a training run, if you were trying to keep up it would feel like you were sprinting 😂
Looks effortless but the speed seems like a sprint to us normal-speed distance runners.
For me, the best moment was at 11:10 when she seemed to be keeping pace with a long jumper who had to run only 40 yards in 10 seconds. When you can run 5.0k at the same speed as someone running 0.04k, you're strong and fast. I also noticed at 11:26 some boy in the background tried keeping pace with her for 40 yards, and he certainly did, but that was all.
He was just striding and happened to do it when she passed
Bro stop imagining 😂
she averaged 19.2 kilometers an hour... Haile Gabrselassie, perhaps the greatest distance runner of all time, set a mark of 21.6 km's when running for 1 hour on a track and had a 5000m PB of 12:50. This girl is freakishly good.
@@bgardiner3354 no woman has ran under 14 mins tho
@@benkelly8938 Not Yet!
Also take time off for the fact she was constantly running wider when lapping other runners!
She is in a total zen mode, nothing but the moment counts. How wonderful to be able to see that. The consistency of her movement is stunning. What a champ!
She’s honestly one of the best athletes I’ve ever seen, moon is the limit for her! She’s amazing!
I've watched this before, several times. Thus far in her career, this is my favorite race of hers. Her running style was smooth as silk, and like the announcers said, a machine. There were great announcers too which made watching this so much more enjoyable. They apologized to every other runner because all they could focus on was Katelyn. After her knee injury and now maturing, it's great to see how she has started her college career.
I’d get sick and tired of running in a circle 25 TIMESSS!!!
Just see how quickly Katelyn recovered and got her breath back.
This was PHENOMENAL! She ran a masterful race. This was amazing to watch.
I am from the UK, and if Katelyn doesn’t get at least one gold medal in the next olympics, I will be very disappointed. She is such a great talent and has a phenomenal future ahead of her.
The fastest I've ever run a 5k is 20:30.... and that was d@mn hard. I was sprinting the whole way until I felt like I was going to puke at the end. (Granted, I'm outdoors jogging with wind, traffic, and an uneven surface but still.) I'm not a pro runner by any means, but to run 5k in 15 minutes is incredible.
I pulled it off once in high school. It's a rush to cover 3.1 miles in such a short time.
Took 19 years off and ran a random 5K at a go kart race weekend. I won it with a time of 20:30 and penguin walked for 10 days. 2nd place wasn't even in frame when I finished. Worth it.
One of the truly great performances in US high school distance running history, a complete solo effort.
She runs like a gazelle. It seems effortless for her but I reckon she worked very hard to get to this level and will work even harder to run on the world stage.
Seriously, watching her do this takes my breath away.
I know the dad of a girl who raced Katelyn earlier in the year and spoke to him about his daughter's thoughts about racing her: it's not easy for all of these other girls psychologically. In a more normal time, there would be perhaps a few slightly better runners than the rest of the pack, but those would not be unbeatable at all times. But Katelyn is a once in a generation - at least - athlete that exists in a realm different to that of her competitors. When I asked the dad what his daughter found the toughest part of her race against her, he said it was towards the last few minutes or so of the race: it's not just watching the pace of Katelyn, but her composure: the technical perfection of her stride, the discipline, the focus and the look on her face when she goes past you - the ease of what she is doing is what is so numbing for other runners. With everyone else, there's the legs slowing down, the arms dropping a little, slightly less co-ordination...and pain. Katelyn seems like a CGI animation done to perfection, start to finish.
And she's still a kid. There is of course the chance that as her body changes it may have the impact that it has had on so many other great female runners, but if she simply becomes stronger...you are looking at a legend of the 2020s and beyond.
Curious how much she will be vaunted by the worldwide media.
Love her relaxed style. A beautiful running action.
You can’t teach this she was born with this greatness I don’t think you will ever see another God bless katelyn Tuohy me I think
He already did wish her nothing but happiness and success
This young woman is poetry in motion. She is a machine.
You know what’s nicer than watching katelyn win is just experiencing that smile and hearing a very balanced well raised young lady, that’s success right there! But man can she run.
This has to be the twentith time I've I've watched this run and EVERY time I'm stunned at how this woman runs. I watch her arm swing, the leg stride, the relaxed shoulders.....she's a prodigy. I hope she takes good care of herself and continues to amaze us as she did in this race.
This young girl is so special and so down to earth.😊I will follow the rest of her accomplishment for many many years.Alot of track records are going to fall
I watched the entire video, now I'm out of breath
Katelyn may still have the face of a child but her performances are beginning to look grown up. It's a truly massive jump from where she is now to a world class adult athlete but I bet that she is more than determined to get there. She has loads of heart! We all wish you well Katelyn.
Katelyn is such a wonderful runner to watch. I wish her all the best in her running career.
I think this is the 3rd time I've watched this event. It just doesn't get old. Congratulations Kaitlyn.
Having Katelyn and Katie Ledecky in the endurance sports (running and swimming,of course) is a blessing for the US.
I've watched this so often, I still find it joyful to watch. How wonderful this is. A prodigious talent.
Katelyn is a massive inspiration! I hope it can get a great olympic coach.
This came up on my feed, I have never seen anything so compelling to watch, its pure art in motion, made it look easy. I hope she never looses her focus and works as hard as she did through her whole life. Bravo Bravo young lady. ~Trooper
This was January 20, 2018 when she was a High School Sophomore. Not a Junior. January 20, 2021 will be 3 years later and she's currently a Freshman at N.C. State.
Watching this race from the beginning has me so amazed that I put it on the same level as when Secretariat won the Kentucky Derby by 23 lengths. This performance was beyond amazing as I have never seen any distance runner lap the field so many times in one race. She will be unbeatable for the rest of her career, as she can only get better as she gets older, stronger and more determined. Someone should give her ONE MILLION DOLLARS for this performance.
You are welcome to donate ONE MILLION DOLLARS!!

Pocking an early lead like this is a risky move for a long distance runner, WOW I am impressed with her run. Breaking so many records in a run is amazing.
What a performance... the form is textbook.

That was amazing! So glad that popped up on my CZcams. A treat to see. I won't forget the name Katelyn Tuohy.
Wonderful run! God Bless and continued successes!!!
I have watch track events all my life and I just cannot recall witnessing such an amazing feat of endurance and athleticism. At this point she is so young and already has such a smooth stride that produces such steadfast power over distances. Her body which is really not that tall with a thin muscular frame, how does she do it. She is amazing!

She is an amazing runner. Really.
I like just after 2mi when she was running with a triple jumper
These girls are amazing!
i saw this among the other videos that the youtube bots show in the main screen and did not know that it was to be so exciting an incredible moment in sports history. my God Ketelyn Tuohy is a robot runner! she is just phenomenal, stupendous, magnificent, crazyyyy! how in the world she does this? she runs like a machine and even the commentators said it. they had no words for what they were witnessing. i lost count of how many laps she did and how many times she went passed all the other competitors. the camera also forgot the other runners and just focused on Ketelyn. she did not paused and she was like the Energizer Bunny that just keeps going, and going and going nonstop. indeed she is a champion, an exceptional person. the other girls were slow and tired, but hey let's give them an applause for staying in the track and not giving up despite knowing that they would never catch Ketelyn. the camera did not showed it, but the girls were not trying to beat each other to the finish line; instead they seem to just be hanging around, presenting challenges to Ketelyn who had to pass them. Ketelyn's pace was continuous, yet passing the slower runners may have caused her to slow a bit. each lap that she made seemed to be better than the previous. the audience were supporting Ketelyn and you could hear the announcer saying something like "let's give a round of applause to Ketelyn Tuohy." the title of the video should say "Unbelievable Ketelyn Tuohy Breaks National 5K Record!" anyway, this video was enticing and i enjoyed every minute of it, could not did not want to pause it. Congratulations to Ketelyn and all the girls who participated in this historic event. ok that's all folks, enjoy life! thanks
This woman will break many records. MANY!
Katelyn is now running for NC State. And yes, she's still a beast. 5k and cross country also.

She is just an incredibly beautiful Runner and I'm talking about not her looks I'm talking about her style she runs so beautifully it's it's like poetry
Brilliant young lady and I just hope that she is allowed to develop naturally without too much media and other unnecessary pressure placed on her. Her winning time ranks around 1 300th on the list of worlds' fastest 5k times for senior women and 56th for U18's. All the very best young lady and just enjoy your running!!
