If everyone in your entire high school suddenly turned into flesh eating zombies, what would you do? The world as you know it has been infected by an deadly virus, and nowhere is safe. ah yes, another game that does false advertising
On an early note about the infection, it could be determined by bite mark placement, immune system and how fast his blood was circulating in his body.
Seeing as Hisashi was holding his arm, he could have been applying pressure to stop the bleeding and cutting off what circulation he could. He could have a good immune system response as well so that would have aided him in fighting off the infection, unfortunately what I think made the infection kill him was all the running.
Running from the undead is physically demanding and infections spread quicker if you're in motion, what they could have done to at least prolong Hisashi's life was have Takeshi carry him in someway or using Rei's uniform bow or a torn sleeve to make a better turnaquet
Finally something that I watch and is in my domain
Man, I loved this story, despite the extreme fan service. Real shame it'll never get a proper ending. R.I.P Daisuke Sato
And just to put salt on the wound the ova drifters of the deads end credits said that the story wasn't over so yeah I wish they could take what was left from the manga and adapt it to anime and maybe have someone make an ending for the manga I just need closure
Honestly I think the writer didn't have an idea where the story was headed. Back when they were still alive they used a earthquake situation in Japan as a huge excuse not to crank out any more chapters for the longest time, like an earthquake and a zombie pandemic had something to do with one another.

At 14:20 when they find the gun, revolvers typically aren’t ever equipped with silencers as the round is not in an enclosed chamber so the sounds aren’t funneled in one direction so a silencer wouldn’t do much of anything. I get it’s Japan and they have low crime rates but it does surprise me how a lot of police carry .38 special revolvers instead of 9mm magazine handguns. Never hurt to be safe imo

@@JerichoVR its true in japan the use of guns are rare and tend to be those who illegally got them from smugglers in china or Russia, those that use guns tend to be people like the Yakuza. An the use of knives for murder are somewhat common along side blunt weapons like baseball bats.

Even silencers are still loud, you gonna need a gun with subsonic bullets
4:19 silencers wouldn’t help, they are commonly misrepresented in media as significantly lowering the sound to a small tapping noise however their primary purpose is simply to dull the sound so that it does not deafen the shooter if anything you’d want to make it louder so that it might deafen the zombies thus making them completely directionless or at least making your location less precise to the zombies
Yeah but the problem then becomes widening the area that zombies are "activated" in and drawn to your general location. Honestly, the only time I would suggest guns as a effective tool for this type of zombie outbreak is if you can take over a gun and ammo shop and have enough ammo to handle the hordes your gunshots will bring in. Eventually you will kill all the zombies in earshot or your base will be broken into and you will get eaten. Either way, its going to be a LONG day.
they are still really useful with pistol calibers, especially mixed in with subsonic weapons
suppressed weapons also are viable in a long range, sniping scenario

Stupidity is one
Its the downside of zombie apocalypse movies. The need to gloss over the transition from single zombie to 95% of the population are now zombies. Because once they hit critical mass, they become a serious threat to the average person, but before then? Power walk to safety.

Tbh big and main reason Takashi's group survived was due to the fact that the zombies in their world were indeed walking corpses. They were totally blind, could easily be distracted by sounds and aside from their crazy strength, were slow and incredibly sloppy, unlike zombies from movies or games that could run, climb, and often even showed intelligence and fighting instincts. These zombies in this world were pretty weak tbh; which made sense, because a bunch of teenager wouldn't had survived against fast and crazy moving zombies. If the story ever continued, I could see humanity eventually making a comeback, taking huge advantage of the fact the zombies only react ed to sound. I also believe the blonde nurse's would eventually come true (the zombies rotting till they couldn't move).
Man to this day I still mourn the loss of hotd artist and writer Daisuke Sato. Hotd even incomplete is one of my top 5 all time manga and anime both. RIP Daisuke you and your legendary anime tiddies and ultranationalism were too pure for this world.

One of the things I loved about HODT is how well balanced their group was. They had a-
-Medic (school nurse)
-Two brawler / close quarters (guy with a bat and girl with a sword)
-Medium range fighter (girl with a polearm / spear)
-Long ranger fighter (guy whose good with guns)
-And a hoity toity rich gi..... I mean a strategist. (just kidding Takagi is my favorite character)
I REEEEALY wish the author didn't die (rest in peace my G) and the story could have been finished. If this was made more seriously... with less fanservice and more grit this would have been one of the best zombie related shows ever made.
Could you imagine this show with AOT budget and scope? Finally getting out of the city only to discover that it was some plot launched by terrorists...or an accident at some chem / bio lab... Spend a 6 month time skip training with the cops / military, the nurse's cop friend and Hirano's parents (if you pay close attention you to everything Hirano says he claims that when he was younger his parents took him to America where they ran training exercises with "special ops guys"..... Who the HELL are his parents to be training with spec ops?). The writer was setting this story up to be something AMAZING I could tell.

I mean 80% of this anime all the female characters are wearing bras... Then for specific shots the director was like... "ok we filmed you getting pushed up against the wall 3 times now and the jiggle just aint right... Go take your bra off and lets film that shot again."

Now as a 30 year old imagine telling your friends who are also in their 30s about this AMAZING anime you just watched. They head home and watch it and all they see is "jiggle jiggle jiggle" or "panties panties panties"... What will they think of you?

Ain't no chance. A co worker, I think the artist idk I have a horrible memory, said he wouldn't finish the show in an interview, because "it'd be like spitting on his grave". Yeah, that sorta things. I mean the respect is phenomenal.

So, one thing to consider is how the skin of an individual rapidly becomes a dark gray which could be useful to find out what is happening internally with the zombies. Examining our friends body is a good start, but ultimately we should be concerning ourselves with the immediate threat over the long term one. From information we've already seen age is likely a big factor in zombification time with the older teachers becoming zombies almost instantly while we see multiple younger students, not just our recently deceased friend surviving for much longer before turning. However, the most important part of this is finding a way to protect ourselves against infection first by finding out how strong they are because sure they are slow, but if they only have standard human levels of strength we should be looking to get our hands on some leather jackets or if that isn't available some bed liner along with other kinds of protection to prevent bites.
I say it again. How to survive the HumanvsChimera-Ant War would
make enough content for at least 2 videos,
especially if we take into account that the Ant King is it's very own Topic/Hurdle,
and theres also good reason to cover 'how to survive AS AN ANT' and 'how to survive AS A HUMAN'.

2:05 that's actually really smart, if you know what they are. Since they are slow moving, he could have easily Usain bolted down there with a weapon and killed them. Then barricaded the entrance. These zombies can't climb, so once you killed the few of em near the entrance, you'd be good. Takashi had plenty of time to do this, because it was several minutes after he made it to the classroom that the outbreak started to spread inside the building.
@Bread NeoNeo Well 2 things that sort of prove your comment false. At 19:49 in the video there are more than enough Zombies here that could stack or stand on one another. But they don't because these Zombies aren't that smart. #2 these Zombies can't run 1:57 confirms this, also as previously stated, Takashi had plenty of time to do this, because it took the Zombies several minutes after he reached to classroom to start eating people inside the building. He could have easily had killed the Zombies in that time frame, had he A) knew what they were, and B) went to the kitchen or tool area to get a weapon.

This anime is such an important one for me. I saw it as a kid and had my parents buy me the manga and would read it and bring it with me everyday at school. I loved this series, I was caught up with and bought each new volume at release and it broke my heart finding out why it'll never be finished. RIP Daisuke Sato, there was a genuinely great story here.

I can only imagine how epic the future chapters could’ve been with the introduction of Takashi’s mom and Rei’s father, other police officers, and them having a handful of firearms, as well as the SAT girl bringing an entire stockpile, that elementary school would’ve been a good fortified position than the mansion and we probably have some sort of war between the school and the neighborhood association that denied Rei’s mom
I dunno, schools are huge and have several entrances and exits to fortify. Also tend to have plenty of ground floor windows for zombies to break through. If you have a large enough group it might work out but I prefer second story strongholds myself. Destroy the staircases so even if they get in zombies cant get up to you, and put together a ladder or other system for getting up and down at need. Those classic fire escape stairs for example would be excellent for stability. Dunno if they had setups like that in japan though.
As much as I love this anime, you do have to admit that these are the easy mode zombies. They can't even see. This should, by all rights, be just about the easiest zombie Apocalypse to survive.
so, the reason a lot of media don't call them "zombies" is because zombie is a term referring to a voodoo folklore and involves the practice of putting someone into a death-like state where their mind becomes incredibly suggestible. They were never intended to be undead and George Romero calling them zombies offended some cultures the word originated from. Since then media has tried to avoid the term, using similar names like undead or walkers.
They need to get over it.
5:50 The zombie cases at the gate were bitten in places that had major arteries. Along the wrist and on the neck. Which may be why they turned as quickly as they did. In most zombie movies there are two parts of the virus. The part that animates the corpse and the part that prepares that body (killing the infected person). In HOTD it seems the animation part is quicker than the killing part.
Using a gun is lunacy. You kill one so ten can take its place.
In my opinion, the best tactic in this situation to eliminate zombies would be to use their hearing against them, i.e. making deep pits in which there would be objects that cause noise, and as such a pit fills up, set everything on fire in order to make some delicious zombie-BBQ.

I LOVED this show. It's a shame we didn't get more seasons. I gotta be honest, the string and the coin were a clever idea when Takashi was going to save the little daughter.
I have some slight issue when you were talking about the gun more specifically the revolver. Too my eyes it appears to be a .357 caliber snub nose, which do to the fact of its stub nose which refers to the short stubby barrel it suffers in accuracy and power. The main character would have to get that close to the gangster to make sure he did not hit Ria and get enough power to drop the gangster.
Out of curiosity, have you read the manga or seen the anime? Cos the fat dude with a nail gun is actually a gun Otaku, and often names and describes the weapons he uses in-universe. That _might_ help settle this issue for-sure, so if you aren't 100% sure, I highly recommend checking out/revisiting either version of HotD. Shame we'll never see it finished, though.

It's a .38 Special revolver, S&W Model 37 with polymer grips. But yes, a newbie trying to shoot a snubnose revolver with a heavy trigger isn't a good combo for a hostage scenario. Also, snub noses aren't really less accurate but suffer because of their generally lighter frames and less polished triggers which means more recoil and muzzle flip.

Its a sin that this manga never got a proper ending.So many interesting plot points,new characters,etc.If it had continued ,it would have easilly been one on the best manga out there.A cult classic.But that is the cruel world we live in and the author sadly died.RIP.
It’s funny how this is the only zombie anime that actually goes for the survival genre like the walking dead for example and not the whole their zombies but they still have their minds or are pop stars or other anime tropes OC that nature this anime may do some hilarious fan-service🤣 but it still keeps to the overall survival horror story that zombie movies/shows are known for and is truly a shame that they couldn’t continue the series despite the death of the creator😔

I think the school nurse not bringing up her friend's appartment before was actually a smart move, because as we have seen, the other teacher in the bus is a scumbag, the type of scumbag you don't want around firearms and he already had those vibes around him from the beginning, but that's just my opinion and what I would have done in the nurse's place at this exact time

to be fair takashi or whatever couldn't have known it was a human that made his GF scream like that, since he knows its a zombie apocalypse, he could just assume a zombie could've took her by surprise, and it was all so sudden, so takashi's actions are logical.
Adding a silencer to your gun doesn't help /that/ much unless you use subsonic bullets too (it reduces the overall decibel level, but the bullet still breaks the sound barrier). Plus with that type of revolver the silencer would be far less effective either way.

Nah, I love the bounce, but watching a bullet be dodged by swinging boobs shattered all suspension of disbelief to me. It was hilarious yeah, but still too much.

I always prefer the zombies that don’t attack animals. If there is a zombie that eats human brains or flesh, why would it eat dogs or birds or cats? This is why I prefer zombies that don’t eat animals, it is more logical that way.
But if zombies happened in real life did happen it would still eat anything cuz the virus would want to spread so it wouldn't be picky this would mean most pet animals would get eaten horribly if you leave them alone also zombies would literally starve to death in like a week also they would die of dehydration cause just cause your a zombie doesn't mean there body's suddenly don't need water so yeah zombie apocalypse would just die out in real life

Imagine being a disorganized military with all the enlisted soldiers being selfish and only care about their families while the commanders die off one by one while the military is being deployed through the entire NATION and they get overran by those zombies. That is the sad reality of a weak nation amidst the apocalypse.
Essentially to create drama the military is always either 1 ass whopping in, quarantining the area where the show takes place without going in or just completely split up doing random stuff. Now the military being on the ropes does make a lot of sense in cases like say L4D when it's pretty obvious almost all of the army were in the original infected and those who weren't were gonna have a pretty hard time but in caces like this... Yeah that's not gonna happen. At all

You failed to mention the OVA where they actually got on a boat and fled to an island off the shore of Japan. There's almost NO way the zombies could have smelled them from across what I'm pretty sure was supposed to be at least a 1 mile gap between Japan and the island. MAYBE they made their camp where the light from the fire was visible from the mainland which drew in the zombies. But due to the zombies being attracted to the shrine PLUS them somehow following the group across the ocean indicates the zombies have some other way of tracking people. Even if you chalk it up to mutated super smelling, even a dogs nose can't track a person across a salty ocean, they can barely keep a scent across a river if it gets too wide, how is a mutated human nose gonna get even better than a dogs? Maybe the zombies eyes changed to work based off heat signature of infra-red or something, but I don't think it's smell they rely on, Im sure it's one thing they use, but not the primary people-locator

I can understand how difficult it can be mentally and emotionally since they have the face and body of the ones you love, but when it comes to these situations you have to be full on ruthless and I don’t mean you have to be heartless but more, efficient such as if you see your family surrounded by zombies vs say a bunch of well equipped survivors and you have to pick one or the other or when even if it’s just a single bite you have to be ruthless enough to know that they are essentially a dead man walking.
As for groups, small to medium sized groups are best due to their lower resources cost as well as maneuverability as well as the simple fact that the less people involved the less likely that someone is to mess up, also whenever searching make sure to travel in pairs or threes and always have an exit strategy

On the splitting up to get on the bus idea, it would not work because a singular group may die and therefore either kill the rest and make them wait, or the first group would just leave because that is the most likely way to ensure your own survival. Therefore it is quite and if I say one of the most unreliable strategies, sorry for the harsh words.
We all know why we watch this. . . . lets just say it wasn't for the zombies.

Today I came back to this particular video again for a few reasons &those being
1. This is by far my favorite anime of all time and I have literally watched it over 10 times in the past
2. I was too lazy to rewatch it now so I thought this will be a fun way rewatch it and simultaneously support u guys
3. I was way lonely as I am away from my family this year
4. Lastly I was under alot of stress because of u my exams and suffered depression, but man u guys actually helped me go through everything and gave me joy every week

14:20, you can't add a suppressor to a revolver unless it's a Nagant revolver. Not just that, most revolver barrels aren't threaded for a suppressor and it's also Japan... one of the strictest countries in the world for gun laws. Also, the cylinder gap means most of the noise is coming from the gases escaping through there instead of the end of the barrel.
Oil can suppressors. Or a bottle. Not the best but it can get the job done
@@jorgecabrera3694 The noise from a revolver comes from the open cylinder, not the barrel. Adding a suppressor to the barrel can be done if you're really that adamant about it, but it does almost nothing

Honestly, I always thought that these zombies were super easy to beat. Just get some fireworks and lure them away, thats it. They are slow, sloppy and lack any heard mentality. Thats actually what I loved about the Night of the living dead: Realistic ending. A few people just kill all zombies around and over. The social commentary in the piece was a great bonus.
Love this series though. Would have wished to see them reunited with their parents (that are still alive) but unfortunately not even the Manga got there. I wish there was less fan service. I do not mind it that much, but at some point it just got in the way of the quite good character development and social commentary.

This anime was so good. It really hits the itch for a zombie apocalypse show, its right up there with the top movies of all time for the genre
Honestly when it came out in 2011 I waited until 2012 to watch it because I didn’t believe all the hype but I miss the feeling these chapters had on release and this anime had when it first came out the perfect combo of raunchy and horror with actual government inflicted plot it’s amazing!
you know i can never understand media when it comes to people getting infected, much less bitten, by zombies. I mean fast zombies are one thing, and if you're stuck in like a skyscraper with hundreds of zombies on every floor, then yeah, that too, but what is with people dying to SLOW MOVING zombies of all things?! I mean seriously- you see a zombie. it bites someone. Ok. He's infected. He dies and starts shambling over to you. But that's it! He's just walking VERY SLOWLY towards you, the reality is he should never catch up at all! I mean seriously what's so important that idiots keep getting themselves killed when there's plenty of moving space and a single or even a crowd of zombies heading towards you?!

One thing I really loved about H.O.T.D. was that it was the first zombie related media I seen that actually shown little kids, like ages 12 and under, as zombies.
Seems like, aside from the random zombie kid in the beginning of the series/movie, kids are some untouchable thing that zombie movies can’t show and we only see teens that would be in their junior or senior year at best

How to beat Highschool of the Dead.... I've thought about this for years...and here's what I got.
First, be a consumer of zombie media, literally, it's like a strategy guide for all types of undead.
Second, cliche as it is, cardio. In this regard, I'd fail miserably, but it's not to out run the undead, it's to outrun the schmucks running with you.
Third, small group of allies. Assuming this started and we're highschool kids, it's not necessarily hard to believe you'd have one or two homies. Apes together strong after all. But even if not, being with people you can trust will ease tensions, I'd say a maximum of ten so you can move in five pairs of splitting up is necessary
Fourth, assuming you survived long enough to find out about their blindness and hearing, take it slow when dealing with the undead. Be the tortoise.
And finally, this is the big one. Assume everyone outside of your immediate allied group is the enemy until you can confirm their intention, and even then, mentally separate yourselves.. your group is your 'family' the other group are just random strangers
This will help you in nothing in life, but it would save your butt from becoming a tasty cake for a zombie down the line if these scenarios happened.
Ah I almost forgot. Always save one round...you never know.

As absurd how Highschool of the dead is animated it's a bit refreshing seeing a zombie outbreak taking place in the city

The first gun the main character had was a snubnose pistol. It is made for close quarters fire. It can hit about three feet… but you need to know how the gun fires to aim it any further than that.

I really liked the premise of the series. Too many zombie films go from start of outbreak to "safe" spot where they fort up, skipping over the dangerous time dodging zombies and chaos. This series LIVED in the chaos. At best they would get a nights sleep then be forced to move of for various reasons. The fanservice was honestly so far over the top it became hilarious rather than annoying. So that didnt bother me much. Sure it was powerful enough that I felt a breeze from my monitor, but the story itself was good enough to make up for it.
I really love this anime for it being the first zombie anime I watched. It’s just too ecchi for the older me today but it’s still fun remembering it.

@@Lybrel That’s why it would have made sense when the girls where having their bath in the friends apartment the guys should have joined them also it’s cause like you said the water could run out in a few days max so they shouldn’t even feel embarrassed or uncomfortable about bathing together at that point they should be thinking about survival.

14:20 adding a silencer wouldn't help a lot really since all it would do is instead of every zombies in a 250 meters radius hears the shot and come to you it would go down to around 150 to 175 meters radius depending of quality, or in this case since you probably wont find one, you'd end up needing to adapt a oil can that would reduce the sound to about 210 to 235 meters.
And if we are talking about weaponry you're better off trying to find a police station, weapon shop or military base with weapons with a integrated silencer, and you would want to extend that silencer even more so only zombies in a 50-40 meter radius or less would hear the shot, but we need to remember ammo ain't easy to get nor make, so its better to stack on plastic, wood, curved metal bars, steel shards, paper, rope, nails and string just so you can make bows and CQC weapons that are more effective against zombies. I would also recommend using rain boots cause usually they aren't as loud as other shoe when it comes to footsteps. Enjoy!
