    After 3-years of car shopping, I finally did some test-driving. Lexus was our first stop. My friends and I were fortunate enough to take out the RX 350 Luxury on our own and enjoyed every minute of it! Didn't notice any 'lag', etc. that y'all talk about and drove all around town including the highway.
    Initially, I was a bit concerned the RX was too much car for me and planned to be open-minded about test driving the NX if that was the case (it's the same size as my current SUV). It surprised me that I pref'd the size of the RX. I felt safer and liked the openness in comparison to the compact NX (friends agreed). The dealership was kind enough to park the RX and NX side by side so we were able to do a comparison. We pref'd the RX hands down, but that's us!
    That said, car buying is personal and not every car is for every person. What one person loves another may despise. It's so easy to get caught up in what reviewers have to say (good and bad), and in reading the comments in the gallery, as well as in groups, etc. This is what delayed my decision to buy. Too many opinions and couldn't decide. My advice is, if you like the car, go drive one, it's the only way you'll ever know if it's for you or not.
    Kirk, thank you for all your videos. They've been incredibly helpful in learning more about Lexus. I put down a deposit for a 2024 350 Luxury with all the bells and whistles, and no lag, last week! 😉

    If you look up the current Venza and NX dimensions, they are identical in size to the early RXs. Having recently upgraded from a compact CUV(CX-5) to a midsize CUV(2023 Subaru Ascent), if I were to go to Lexus I'd probably go for the new RX. I just like the extra space(especially width) and the longer wheelbase really smooths out the ride. Yes, I'm single with no kids, but when I test-drove compact and midsize CUVs back-to-back, the midsize was a no-brainer for the extra money.

    • @naveenthemachine
      @naveenthemachine Pƙed rokem +3

      The dimensions are a bit surprising for the RX especially the wheelbase

    For me the 2023 RX 350 is the perfect size. the only issues I have are the Heads-up display casts a square shadow in the middle of the windshield that annoys me, and the front seats are a little too narrow, feels like I'm sitting on the bolsters. I'm 6ft 215lbs. As for the turbo 4, I have no problem with it, it has plenty of torque and the 8 speed is butter smooth.

  • @Mark-de4hj
    @Mark-de4hj Pƙed rokem +16

    The problem that I have with your reviews is that you seem to lack objectivity. We know you prefer the smaller NX, but lots of folks, including myself, prefer and have use for the larger RX. Additionally, while the NX is a good-looking small SUV, it does not fully display the styling innovation of the RX. I had the RX when it was smaller and the additional space it currently has is now perfect for my needs. I also drove the 2023 NXh and it does not ride or feel as plush as the RX. Just because it does not suit your personal lifestyle doesn't mean you should disparage it.

    • @MilkyWayGalaxyy
      @MilkyWayGalaxyy Pƙed 10 měsĂci

      The NX and RX are too small. They make the NX smaller to make the RX size more appealing which makes the NX much smaller than a Rav4 which is almost as big as the Rx and much cheaper than the NX!
      Makes no sense to buy Lexus. I am strongly leaning towards the Rav4 but I won't be buying until 3 years from now so I will see how they all look then. But right now, the Rav4 is not only bigger, cheaper but also looks better.
      The F sport looks better but then they don't offer the walnut colored seats. So you have to get the less attractive Lexus to get them. We need more options and more customization options!!
      We should be able to start with a basic model and just add whatever features we want instead of having to buy a certain trim for a certain feature.

    • @Mark-de4hj
      @Mark-de4hj Pƙed 10 měsĂci

      @MilkyWayGalaxyy The current generation NX is bigger than its ever been, and the RX retains its size in the class. It was not "made smaller". The NX is a much much more attractive looking suv than the RAV4 with much better materials (including what's under the skin) and is more powerful.

    • @MilkyWayGalaxyy
      @MilkyWayGalaxyy Pƙed 10 měsĂci

      @Mark-de4hj It is not "much" more attractive than a Rav4. The rav4 looks great especially for the price. Obviously it doesn't look as good as the NX but you have to take the price into consideration. The NX and RX are both much more expensive than the Rav4 so all things considered, the Rav4 looks better, is much bigger and a much, much, much better VALUE!!!!
      I don't care about performance, speed, power. I cre about value for my money, size and practicality.
      The NX and RX have less backseat legroom than the Rav4 and the NX has much less cargo space. And that is inexcusable considering how much more expensive it is.

    • @Mark-de4hj
      @Mark-de4hj Pƙed 10 měsĂci

      @MilkyWayGalaxyy When I buy a car I look at the best options available in my budget and since that is all you care about then that's what you should be doing instead of critiquing luxury cars of which you obviously know nothing. AGAIN, THE MATERIALS USED IN LUXURY AND UPSCALE VEHICLES ARE GENERALLY OF BETTER AND HIGHER QUALITY THAN MAINSTREAM VEHICLES AND OFFER MORE OPTIONS. FOR EXAMPLE, MORE NOISE CONTROL MATERIALS AND COMPONENTS.
      BUY WHAT YOU CAN AFFORD AND BE HAPPY WITH IT! Luxury cars are not a need. One could argue that a pickup truck also has more space in the back!

    • @MilkyWayGalaxyy
      @MilkyWayGalaxyy Pƙed 10 měsĂci

      @Mark-de4hj I am comparing SUV to SUV! And you bring an orange into the conversation. Smh.
      The rav4 compared to an NX which is equivalent. The rav4 is bigger, much cheaper and looks great.
      Of course a luxury car has better materials but at what cost is the point. It better have better materials and better everything at that price. But it doesn't have better everything like it is not bigger than a Rav4.
      Luxury or not, the point is that I want my money's worth and value for the dollar.
      I saw one Lexus suv sitting right next to a rav4 in a Walmart parking lot and that lexus was so tiny. I was shocked. I am not going to pay big suv prices for not only a small suv but one that is tiny even compared to a rav4.
      Also, the nx prices are too close to the rx prices, with upgrades. They should be in 2 different price points. I want the most for my money.
      I can afford a luxury car. I buy everything in cash. My house, my cars etc. But I want value and I want to my money's worth.
      I am open to an NX and RX but they need to give me more size for the price they are charging. Or make it less expensive if they are going to make them that small.
      The suv are getting shorter in height and length and cargo space for not much gain in the mpg. The rav4 is bigger, cheaper and gets better mog than the NX. And looks great!
      The point is the NX does not offer that much more and for that price it should offer a lot more than the rav4.

Superb quality, fit and finish and warranty. Way, way better than Audi, Mercedes, Bmw....at least, we think so in the Netherlands, as well as our car journalists.

      If it did, then therefore a bmw 3 series with leather and wood is deemed worse quality than a base Toyota Corolla L with hard plastics everywhere, a rubber steering wheel, and cloth seats 😂
      Also what warranty? Only 5 years. Genesis has 10 year 100k. More than double the RX.
      Besides luxury should also give you a leather dashboard, leather doors, lots of wood trim, metal speaker grilles and a leather airbag cover. It should be opulent and elegant. I tried for four months earlier this year and seven dealers told me to fuggedaboutit. And a 2023 RX350h was a 9 to 12 month wait. I was lucky to find an ES300h, Ultra Luxury with additional options and dealer add-ons in April. I disagree with you about the NX/RX. First both are smaller than average for their respective segments. Also the price difference between the two vehicles when similarly equipped is about $7500. That’s a pretty insignificant jump for an entirely different class of size vehicle. Additionally the interior on the RX feels like proper luxury whereas the NX has a cheaper looking dash than basically any car on sale today. Did they serious think slapping that massive peace of plastic on the passenger side was acceptable?
    $7500 is a cheap upgrade when looking at the GLC vs GLE, X3 vs X5, GV70 vs GV80, etc.
    BUT, when the TX comes out, I’d end up agreeing with you, especially if it’s priced only ~3K more than the RX. Then the RX doesn’t seem very worthwhile. You’re better off saving the cash and getting the NX or have a properly spacious and much larger TX.

    As a longtime Lexus owner of several generations it is funny you say what you say about the NX styling vs the RX. I will have to agree, we like the looks and styling of the NX better. Not long ago we drove a 23 RX350 with the turbo 4 and we were not impressed. Interestingly the dealership didn't push the car that much either and understood our take on it. Overall the mileage increase just isn't that impressive over our V-6 and definitely ours with the V-6 is smoother in overall operation. Plus the dealer was pretty set on getting at least a 15-20% over invoice, which as long as we have been with Lexus never happened.
