  • With the release of The Jinx Part 2 let's take a look back at the Robert Durst Trial. LIVE TRIAL: CA v. Robert Durst Murder Trial - Murder of Friend Susan Berman
    Witnesses:
"BD Story"-Durst's Writing, Prep For Galv Trial
Robert Durst stands trial for the 2000 murder of friend Susan Berman. The trial began just before the pandemic in early 2020 and was halted two weeks in. The restart happened on May 17, 2021, with the same jury panel.
The defendant’s wife Kathleen McCormack Durst went missing in 1982. Evidence and testimony would show that Robert Durst killed her, the prosecutor said. The defendant allegedly told Berman it was an accident and asked her for help. She served as his alibi.
Berman, 55, was shot execution-style at her Beverly Hills home in 2000, and the prosecution suggested that it was because of what she knew about Kathleen’s death and disappearance. As defense lawyer Dick DeGuerin would have it, however, Durst is innocent. His client only came across the body, panicked, and fled, he maintained.

Durst is toast. Him taking the stand is the dumbest thing he will ever do. Lewin’s cross may seem all over the place, but he knows exactly what he’s doing. My money is on Lewin for the conviction .

So if you want something, you can just take it from a store without paying because you're not going to stand in a line? So he was taught that's OK? Maybe his father did that? Asperger people I know, know that's wrong. He's entitled.

So confusing following this trial from the very start. Today the 4 videos are 2 on Law & Crime channel, the other 2 on Law & Crime Channel B. There has to be something I’m not understanding 🤷🏻‍♀️? Durst is too much that comment people on the street trust me & I trust them. He’s so full of himself.

I just wrote this feedback on one of the feeds (somewhere). The live feeds are confusing enough but it is ridiculous to not take care to label the videos (once no longer “live”) properly for continuity. (I had no idea there is a channel “A” or “B” but that probably explains why I keep finding what I think are “new” videos to find that I had already seen them)

This is a prior recording of when Durst spike to the police. This is not the prosecutor asking him these questions in the courtroom. (That hasn’t happened in the trial yet.) I think the detective has really done his homework & he’s a brilliant interrogator.

My take away from this interview is that the DA is very difficult to listen to. At times, he seems to seek approval and validation from Durst himself, “I’m the reason they’ve opened the case in NY, not Jarecki” “Do you know why I didn’t call [sic]?” Then tells Bob in a ‘I’m so bright’ tone, “because they would have called you”. Just say what you need to say without asking a rhetorical question. So much of this recording is about the DA talking about himself. And as a psychiatrist, I’m not pleased to hear Lewin define autism spectrum disorders and conclude that bc someone can exhibit wit at times, that would preclude a diagnosis on the spectrum. Also, why would he ask Bob about what defines autism spectrum disorders/Aspergers’? As though patients who have this diagnosis are going to say, “yes, that’s me!’ Or that the patient having insight into that diagnosis is a criteria for diagnosis. How simplistic and untrue. That whole segment only adds to the stereotypes about people with autism spectrum disorder whom DA Lewin has zero credentials to diagnose or rule out a diagnosis of irrespective of bob durst.

My son has aspergers and when Bob talks about what he supposed to do or say it is because people with Aspergers are constantly asking themselves what normal people would do because they cant read cues or social situations. It is clear he has it, not that it excuses what he did.

Lewin is all over the place. He can hardly finish a complete thought before moving to a different thought or question. It’s very annoying because some of the questions he starts to ask are actually very important but he moves on and doesn’t come back to them. I don’t like saying this because I know Durst is guilty.
