  • With the release of The Jinx Part 2 let's take a look back at the Robert Durst Trial. LIVE TRIAL: CA v. Robert Durst Murder Trial - Murder of Friend Susan Berman
    Robert Durst stands trial for the 2000 murder of friend Susan Berman. The trial began just before the pandemic in early 2020 and was halted two weeks in. The restart happened on May 17, 2021, with the same jury panel.
    The defendant’s wife Kathleen McCormack Durst went missing in 1982. Evidence and testimony would show that Robert Durst killed her, the prosecutor said. The defendant allegedly told Berman it was an accident and asked her for help. She served as his alibi.
    Berman, 55, was shot execution-style at her Beverly Hills home in 2000, and the prosecution suggested that it was because of what she knew about Kathleen’s death and disappearance. As defense lawyer Dick DeGuerin would have it, however, Durst is innocent. His client only came across the body, panicked, and fled, he maintained.

    Ya'll drag this trial out for 36 court days with a bunch of unnecessary witnesses and repetition ad nauseum and then you want a mistrial cause your client needs to be hospitalized ... rediculous ... why didn't that Dr who says he needs 2 weeks in the hospital get that done in the past months he's been charging hours for his work

      Because I think no one had the evidence as identified through the process and records that "The Jinx" (their Directors & Investigators) uncovered which I believe took several years in the making. As a result of the Jinx (not sure the timelines from investigation, recordings, and filming reels to that of actual final output and release of the HBO Series) but after the Jinx was filmed and Durst UNDERSTOOD that they had the two envelopes that had Beverly Hills spelled wrong (one envelope from Durst to Susan Berman well BEFORE she had been killed and the second envelope containing the "cadaver note" to the Beverly Hills Police sent shortly after Susan was murdered (which FOR YEARS Robert Durst denied sending which right before trial his team decides he needs to CONFESS HE WROTE THAT CADAVER NOTE), in my opinion, then jump started the investigation again with Robert Durst also taking questionable actions (making efforts and initiative to run again) which also demonstrated consciousness of guilt, again, did not help Durst and his case. Again, just my opinion but it seemed as if you legitimately were asking for answers ....🙂🙃🙂
      Hope this helps clear up your questions.

      I don't know if any good comes with prosecuting him at this point. I'm trying to think if I lost a family member to a murderer would I feel any better about tossing the frail old murderer into jail to rot and die. He's gonna cost taxpayers a fortune in medical expenses and he's no threat to society. This trial alone had to cost millions. Not to say I feel sorry for the man but just looking at the practical implications. Maybe he should just be on house arrest and pay for his own medical bills. It's sad that murderers in prison get better medical care than most of us hard working and honest Americans.

      @@darkwillow57 California is something like the fifth largest economy in the world, I'm pretty sure they can afford it & what makes you think he's no threat it looks like he was on his way to commit another murder when he was caught.
      If he is acquitted he will be back to health very quickly.

    • @darkwillow57
      @darkwillow57 Před 2 lety +1

      @@ezeddiev Well I am no doctor so I can't say is he's really healthy and faking it for sympathy or if he's deathly ill. Even the prosecution isn't trying to suggest that if he's acquitted he's gonna hop out of his chair laughing manically and going off to murder somebody else. Anytime people on CZcams see someone who is acting crazy or sick it injured at least half the people say it's legit and half say it's all an act. But do any of us armchair doctors at home really know?
      I'm not gonna cry about it either way. If the state of California doesn't end up paying for his healthcare I'm sure they will just find some other way to waste taxpayer's money.
