Company Man, you probably won’t see this, but I used to watch you 6 or 7 years ago when you first started and would reply to every comment, you replied to many of mine, I was dealing with a lot of major life issues and your videos were a great little ten minute break from life. Recently thought “whatever happened to company man?” And was amazed to look you back up and see 1.7million brother. That is amazing. Well look he replied to you and most youtubers really don't engage much with their viewers.
One thing you didnt mention that I feel like factored in their post 2008 rise was the 2+ medium two topping pizzas for $6 each deal. As a high schooler and college student, me and my friends took advantage of that deal a ton. You can easilly get a small group of guys willing to toss in a few bucks each, grab a couple of pizzas, and split it between them, and that singlehandedly made us regular Dominos customers.
For me it was the 1 medium pan for like $8, but that price has gone up. Still good though

Honestly, other than the recipe change, the mix and match deal has to be credited for a lot of their recent success. It tastes better and is cheaper than the chain competition, its just the logical option when getting a quick pizza with friends. Me and my college roommates would split the mix and match at least once a week. Good times man
The mix and match deal is amazing. I've been able to redeem points along with it, so I'm able to get another pizza or dessert on top of it. It's one or the other elsewhere.

Yes agree. The deals I get for getting my pizza exclusively from Dominos are insane. I'm always getting a free pizza before I know it and the pizzas are really really good. I get Dominos on average once every two weeks and I've never been let down. Papa Johns used to have more and better tasting toppings but not in a LONG time, and Pizza Hut taking an hour to deliver pizzas where you can see through their crusts?! That's the last place I'd ever get a pizza nowadays.
When I was in college, Domino's had a partnership with the company that ran our campus dining service, where we could use our meal plan flex dollars at Domino's. Many of my classmates ate SO MUCH Domino's that they’re tired of it now; however, I only did this sparingly, so Domino's is still my favorite. The biggest reason is they have the best REHEAT pizza I've ever found; I would eat half of a small pizza & put the rest in the refrigerator. When I reheated the rest the next day, it tasted NO DIFFERENT than when it was fresh.
Once a week? That’s rookie numbers.
I got hired by Domino's about 5 years ago. Part of the orientation class consisted of watching a video about the history of the chain, which included a section that flat out said "our food sucked for a while" and then everything that's been changed since.
It obviously varies from franchise to franchise, but at least around here Domino's is both much cheaper _and_ better quality than the chain competition. If the guys in the store are doing their jobs right, the food is actually really good.
Oh, and people **STILL** think the 30 minute delivery thing applies. We'd have a customer bringing that up at least once per week.
The pizza at dominos in Carson, ca is lacking flavor now. Domino’s used to be really good when the pizza sauce had more flavor.

I live near by a location so I always go pick mine up, so I get it fresh and scurry back home. It's always hot and tastes so good!

One of the best things Domino’s did was acknowledge that their pizza wasn’t good. People respect honesty and it’s even better when you make changes from it and they did. I had Domino’s for the first years a couple of months ago and it was pretty good. I would gladly have Domino’s again after that. I’m glad that through all the ups & downs, they’re still here and here’s to many more years with Domino’s.

YES! I tried Dominoes a hundred years ago, and it was awful. I really couldn’t understand how anyone with a choice would order from them, and avoided them like the plague after that experience. Decades later, they ran that ad campaign where the company president said he knew how bad the food was, apologised, and asked people very humbly to give them another chance. My curiosity was piqued and I did.
I work in food manufacturing and I have to say, I was blown away by how good the pizza was! Generous toppings, great presentation, fast & accurate delivery, good deals and an app that makes it so easy to order. I’ve been a Domino’s fan ever since. My local franchise is particularly good- the staff are smart and friendly, the food is always fresh and hot. The pan pizzas are truly delicious with a buttery, rich crust. They are doing everything right. They deserve their success, and I am happy to order from them. Great job to the entire team!
I worked for Domino's back in 2000 for the first time. The deep dish and thin crust came in par baked and the only fresh crust was the hand tossed. When I went back to work for Domino's in 2018, everything was freshly made and hand made. Huge difference... We also had corporate come by to inspect our pizzas to make sure we had the correct amount of toppings and that everything was made correctly. Major difference from then to now!!
That ad in the early aughts acknowledging that we know our product needs improvement and following through was genius, that changed the narrative and for a chain their pizza is better since then
And importantly, they actually did make changes, it wasn't just lip service.
I contrast it to Wendy's a few years ago when they revamped their fries and decided to say they were better than McDonalds. They weren't better but they actually did improve their product. But they never acknowledged that the previous fries were meh and instead of emphasizing the improvement they targeted a more successful, almost cult following of fries.
That was in 2009-2010.
Pizza hut missed an opportunity to clown them by faking a commercial about to do the same and then saying they don't have to do that.

That Dominos campaign where they talked about how bad their pizza was and that they were making a change was exactly what made me go back and try it. I was really surprised how good it was and I've never eaten any pizza delivery other than Dominos since.
Absolutely. It took a ton of guts to be like, we messed up. We're trying to improve. People can get behind that especially when they see effort is being made to put truth to those words.

Growing up I *never* had Dominos - it was only Pizza Hut, Little Caesar’s, and occasionally Papa John’s.
A few years ago, my housing situation made it where Dominos was the only store that would deliver to me and I’ve fallen in love ever since. Their prices/deals, taste, and wide delivery ranges won me over totally
All I gotta say is this. Them 2 pizzas for $12 got me and my boys through college, Dominoes is the GOAT 🎉❤
if you want to puke you can just drink with the boys you don't have to eat this stuff. you can get way better quality for like the same prices going to Costco or on Papa Murphy's deals.

In NZ they had $5 pizzas til a couple years ago which got me through tough times lol. Bear in mind the NZ dollar is only 70 cent US (thereabouts)

I used to be hooked on their bread bowl pastas and then one day I tried ordering online and the pasta was only offered in a regular bowl. Fast forward years later and as I was talking to my gf about how great they were, I googled them to show her what they looked like and saw a page asking if they are available and to my surprise, it says they are still available despite not showing as an option or even showing on any advertising. So I called and verified and we’ve been hooked again lol
the bread bowls are SO good but def a hassle to make during rush hour lol
You glossed over their "new" CEO Patrick Doyle. The man literally saved the company. He came in when they were at their worst and took them from dead last to the number one pizza place in the world! He was also very vocal and open about their weaknesses and what he planned to do to improve, it really hit home with people.

They might have had more sales then something like Strawhat pizza, but in terms of sales per store they were struggling amongst the lowest. I currently work at a Domino's location and seeing things from the inside I say I like them even more now.
I remember when that entire Dominos revamp video they had in early 2010s where they read reviews and changed their recipe and it went viral. Them and Old Spice’s videos at the time was kind of the start of brands using social media platforms as a way to do marketing
There adoption of technology has really been huge. They were one of the first fast-food compies to implement online ordering, customer prophiles, and "easy orders." For a time in the early 20-teens they were a top 5 company for online sales.

It’s a bit corny but the commercials saying that they know their product wasn’t good and they were changing it was actually really endearing to me. Like when your younger sibling or friend fesses up to breaking your controller and promising to get you a new one and then ACTUALLY does it. Mad respect for them and they became my favorite chain ever since
I actually worked for Domino's as a delivery driver for a couple years around 2017ish and I've gotta say, I STILL love their pizza. I know some people who work for fast food really get sick of it or find it unappetizing once they see how the food is kept or made and Domino's (at least the one I worked for) was very very clean and sanitary. They had strict rules about food safety and cleanliness. Not only that, but the pizza is just good, so still to this day, I love Domino's and get it whenever I am able to choose when we order out.
Domino's isn't the best pizza in the world but its by far the best option for fast food pizza. It's priced cheap and totally edible. And the pan crust with extra sauce is 🔥

I was in the middle of reheating some slices of a Domino’s pizza in the oven when I got the notification! I had no problem deciding what to watch while I ate it haha. My favorite thing about domino’s compared to other pizza chains is their sauce. Personally, no other pizza I’ve had has the same tasty sauce Domino’s pizza does! Great video! Keep up the good work!

The crust was definitely a game changer. It's the ONLY pizza where I'm like, "can't WAIT to get to the crust" after eating the pizza.

I've been a fan of Domino's ever since that major ingredient update in the late 2000s.
Can they beat local pies? Usually not, however if a pizza is needed in a pinch they are the reliable go-to.
Domino's is my favorite pizza chain. I have good memories of skipping classes during college to go have some pizza with my friends. All of this was around 2009-2010, and I recall the new recipe being advertised a lot.
I remember when I had my first Domino's pizza with the improved recipe and instantly became my favorite "fast food" pizza right there on the spot. This episode REALLY made me hungry for pizza!
At one time, my local Domino's had a franchise owner that was not very good with customers. After it came under new ownership, I gave them another try, and it has become my go to pizza chain. Amazing what new owners and managers can do to Improve business

Their change of recipe did make a difference for sure. I used to despise Domino's pizza. It was my absolute last choice up until then. However, once I tried the new recipe with the improved crust I tend to choose them more often than not. I mean, I usually use a local Texas brand. But if they're closed or if I want delivery (the local place is pick-up only), I will more often than not use Domino's. They have the best online tracker as well.
They also seem to be better reheated the following day than other options. I dunno, their improvements were just really good.
Dominos has been my favorite pizza place for the last several years. Years ago (Like probably 10ish years ago,) they closed the domino locations near me. The closest to me was an hour away.
Now earlier this year they finally opened up a location about 20 minutes away from my house, and then just a week ago they opened up a location 5 minutes from my house. It's really nice to see them pop back up again!
Domino's is basically everything Little Caesars promised to be. It's fast cheap and tasty pizza. The tracker plus the in app coupons are amazing. It's time for Little Caesars to improve, and learn how to spread pizza sauce so that the middle isn't dry 🤣

Little Caesar's is mass produced meh pizza for fundraisers or a really quick family dinner, It's also best if you eat it right away because once it has spent a night in your refrigerator the pizza sauce turns into tomato residue and the crust turns into flavored cardboard. The toppings themselves aren't that bad for when they were $5 but they have since upped their prices without an increase in quality.

I've always felt they had the best pizza of the major chains both before and after the recipe change. Drove and ran shifts in the 90's and the food was good quality. We did lots of business by being known for staying open late, being fast, and being consistent. Can't go too far wrong with fresh dough, inoffensive tomato sauce and good mozzarella cheese.

As soon as they changed their recipe, it became my favorite pizza from the major brands.
I think an underrated part of their business is how dominos has a franchise on nearly every military base in America. When I was stationed at the marine detachment at fort Gordon a few years ago, the rec center was attached to a dominos and once dinner rush started they were pushing out pizzas like crazy all the way until closing time. At the marine barracks they’d deliver three or four orders and do as many pickups on the slowest day and we were one of the smallest buildings on the base. And they were always large orders, since barracks there were 2 to 4 guys to a room, nobody ordered just for themselves.
What I like about these videos is that they're concise for the average person to understand. I was a business admin major in college, and the course readers for topics like this--rise, fall, and turnaround--can get really pedantic with a lot of seemingly meaningless formulae and details. The business lessons that Dominos experienced, such as "curt delivery which ended up seriously hurting a person; the 'Noid' campaign that triggered that guy; and its admission that its pizza could be improved" are all very important. No business, big or small, can sustain its success in perpetuity without trials and tribulations.
Worked at a Domino's in the mid 80's. Fun times and learned a lot. What's always been strange to me is that the price per pizza is about the same as it was back then if not cheaper.

I love dominos so much. It’s cheaper than even little Caesar’s at this point and miles above. Their thin crust is fantastic and their Brooklyn style too and who can forget about the pan. They also have the best garlic sauce out of any chain. Very much appreciated to help out when it’s hard to afford anything.

They also seem to be able to retain people for a very long time, the local tiny Dominos has had the same guy flipping pizzas for 10 years maybe longer. As far as I lived here it has been the same guy! Always perfect too. I don't eat fast food very often since Seattle area has practically endless restaurants and many are even cheaper than fast food but Dominos and MOD pizza is the exception for me. Once in a while it is just easy and 2 pizza lasts us for 2 dinners so can't beat that.

Had Domino's last night in Australia. Ordered 2 meat lovers and a pepperoni. Received 2 butchers blocks and a pork and capsicum pizza. Should have checked before I left.
I used to order from them but local pizzerias just taste so much better. But their story is truly inspiring. I like that you mentioned that a lot of the downs were out of their hand so it was nice to see them rise back from it time and time again. It’s a shame Pizza Hut is almost dead tho

I gotta say... Domino's has come a long way in my eyes. Pizza Hut, admittedly, was my place of choice all throughout undergrad (or Little Caesars if I REALLY wanted to feel bad about myself). Then inflation happened, but Domino's was the ONLY ONE, to me, of the Big Four chains to improve (their pan pizza is a revelation), and it's the only one I've been to since. My main order from there is the reason why I, at least for now, don't frequent anywhere else

I've had Domino's Pizza dozens of times since 2017. It's my favorite pizza shop to order pizza from. Then, I stopped when I moved to a different location in August of 2021, then picked up again fairly recently late in 2023
They’ve had these 50% off online orders every once in awhile that really drew me in like a decade ago and I pretty much exclusively get Domino’s over the other big chains now

Dominoes was my pizza home when I lived in the northeast. When I moved out west, it changed to Papa John’s. Being back in the east coast makes me appreciate dominates so much more.

More companies need to do what Dominos did when they did their makeover in 2009.
Pizza hut needs to do a reverse makeover and go back to what their recipe *used* to taste like lol. I remember in the 90s and early 2000s their pizza tasted better than it currently does, idk if they decided to just start using cheaper ingredients or something, but the quality and taste has gone downhill.

A side note about The Noid--that was such an iconic character that he got a reference in the recent cartoonish video game Pizza Tower, as a stage boss called The Noise.
So that's where his name came from! I already knew about the real Noid from the nintendo game

Between Domino's and Pizza Hut, I've felt the ebb and flow between the two pizza chains. I'm a little older, so my heart's more with Pizza Hut than with Domino's. That may just be a coincidence because I've had Domino's since 2010, and their pizza's good. But all my early pizza memories were dining inside a Pizza Hut restaurant with my family.
Fact is, my heart's actually with a local pizza chain, which I may have to abandon because I'm moving soon... to a place so remote that if I were to order a pizza, I'll have to meet the delivery driver halfway!
I usually get Hungry Howie's but our local one has been closed due to the building being under construction so we have been getting Domino's instead. I haven't had it in years and i have to say i have been impressed. Its really good!
Here in Spain i tried domino's around the mid 2010 and i couldn't understand why it was so popular, it is cheaper than other places but the taste was pretty average (maybe it was because it was a pizza buffet and pizzas weren't made with the same quality), so i never went again. Years later, they opened a store near my place, i decided to try it (again a buffet) and i was surprised about the quality, they improved a lot, now is one of my favorites.

I respect a company willing to say, frankly, no BS, "Hey, our product we've been selling you? It's not very good. We're going to make a better product." Admiting to having a problem is difficult.

I may have to try Domino's again sometime. Both my wife and I separately had several extremely poor experiences with multiple Domino's locations in 2 different states in the 2000s so we haven't ordered from them in close to 15 years. Plus we live in a metro area that is LOADED with pizza restaurants with nearly all offering delivery. Heck, there's even 3 places I could get a pizza within walking distance of my house right now.
Me; personally; Domino’s is good, but I grew up with Pizza Hut.
Pizza Hut is all I knew growing up. Every Sunday after church; me & my family would go to Pizza Hut along with a few church members.
At that time Pizza Hut had jukebox & and arcade game. Me & few friends went over to the game & fed dollars worth of quarters in that game. We had a blast. We didn’t want to leave.
Pizza Hut is and always be my go to pizza place.

Man, I remember back in the day, Domino's was the only place you could order pizza from late at night. It was just passable if you were partying late with friends. Now days really an improvement. The stuffed cheesy bread is excellent. Pizza is good too. Reasonable prices with the app. 👍😋
I do remember that Domino's before the recipe change was... awful. Fast? Yes. Good? No. It was kind of just the pizza that you got if you just wanted to get something to eat and didn't care about the taste. When I first tried it after the recipe change, I was completely shocked.
And their $5.99 each deal is also pretty stellar. Now it's a good price for decent pizza. Not on the level of Round Table, but still pretty good pizza.
Funny enough, I stopped ordering Domino's RIGHT when the recipe change happened. I noticed it didn't taste the same and swore I wouldn't go back. Obviously, I did go back and gave them a second chance, and I think I was too critical last time because now I love Domino's more than ever!
I never had pizza from a chain restaurant until my 20s, which was a little after they revamped their recipe. I thought it was pretty good and I loved the deals they offer. I especially love how their bread bowl pastas are part of it, I cannot get enough of them

I was a big Pizza Hut fan in my teens and early 20s. In my experiences in the 21st century, Domino's destroys Pizza Hut most notably in delivery time. Both chains have many locations in my area and Pizza Hut routinely takes twice as long as Domino's to deliver. The updated ingredients at Domino's helped them as well. In taste, I am OK with both, but I pretty much only order Domino's now because I'd rather get my pizza in 30 minutes instead of 60.
I worked at Dominos 2016-2020. I even went to the dominos convention in las Vegas in 2018. I think the delivery thing is coming back to bite them… again. At the convention they talked about Uber eats and how they weren’t worried about them because we were number 1. I feel like people have more delivery options nowadays and that can hurt them again.
I'll tell ya something else that's going to hurt them is the rising prices of eating out, and I see a lot of people just getting fed up with it, and either cutting way back, or just saying no more, and cooking at home.
Also another thing is Home Run Inn frozen pizza getting into Walmart, and Aldi stores now, thus making it so much more easier to find, as I personally think it's the best tasting frozen pizza out there, and very close to ordering something fresh from a pizza chain, at a better price point once you either factor in your gas to go get it if no one delivers to your small town like me, or if you can have it delivered, and you have to pay the extra delivery fees.
It's an easy fix if Domino's wants to do this (I say this is a recent former & probably future Domino's driver): Pump up the pay and/or the benefits so they can keep more quality drivers. UberEats & the other companies will contract just about anybody, and it shows in the inconsistencies with their delivery experiences. I had more than one of our regular customers tell me they were actually in the mood for burgers or Chinese, but Door Dash kept screwing up their orders or UberEats always took forever.
My local Domino's doesn't have drivers to deliver half of the time now, they've lost business recently from me because of it. I'm never mad about it but I'm not going to pay double going through Uber Eats, I'd just rather get pizza from one of the dozen other places around.
Well Domino's uses Uber eats now to receive orders.

Literally my favorite Company of all time. No matter the industry or business Domino's Pizza is my personal favorite company I even worked for them twice and never grew tired of the food. It was pretty impressive in how it operated and was fair to the customers and workers.

as a kid, i thought dominos was cool because thats where they ordered pizza from in the first TMNT movie "pizza dudes got thirty seconds....". I remember their buffalo wings promo being huge. as an adult, i prefer local pizzerias for quality and taste.

A local pizza joint should be everyone’s favorite. Dominos is the McDonald’s of pizza, one doesn’t love it, but knows it is there when times are tough.

I was wondering if you'd mention the videos of workers doing gross things to pizza. The one thing that wasn't mentioned that perhaps isn't super important is that the Noid did make a comeback. They had the noid in at least one commercial a couple years ago. Great video as usual, keep up the awesome work!
I travel out of town a lot, and can only say this. When it's 3 am, and you're looking for food to be delivered to your hotel, Domino's got you! I have a ton of great independent pizza shops around me, but I will still throw my local Domino's into the mix of places I'll order from. They're fast, the app gives you a ton of great deals, the pizza is awesome, and that jalapeno bacon cheesy bread is out of this world! Domino's is doing everything that Pizza Hut ought to be, alas the latter is run by Yum Brands. They have this nasty habit of ruining every chain they absorb by selling the lousiest product possible. They had a great thing going when PepsiCo sold Pizza Hut, KFC, and Taco Bell to them. Within a few years, all 3 chains lost their edge due to subpar (at best) ingredients. How in the hell do you ruin Taco Bell? The ingredients needed for the concept were already cheap but design. We won't even get into that greased up frozen garbage that Pizza Hut calls a crust.
In the late 80s, I remember my family buying Domino's and none of us liked it. My father declared that he'd have preferred if the toppings were on the box's cardboard instead of their crust.
I then avoided Domino's when I became an adult for 15 years, until they changed the pizzas. Admitting what "everyone" already knew: the pizza was bad, and fixing it, made me try again, and I was surprised to find that it had changed to be actually good pizza.

Before their recipe change I'd never had Domino's. The only pizza my family ever ate while I was growing up was Little Caesar's (when Grandma was buying because it was cheap and so was she) or Husson's (local place with only 3-4 locations, but it is AMAZING pizza). When I started working and making my own money I wanted to try new restaurant experiences, and Pizza Hut was the first one I tried, I liked it mostly because it was different, and I stuck with it. But then the Domino's ads started advertising their new recipes and I thought it'd be worth a shot. Fast forward to today and while Husson's is still my favorite, Domino's is a VERY close second. (And Marco's is DEAD last - it's just a disgusting grease ball.)
I used to work at Domino's as a delivery driver, and have no complaints about the food. But I actively lost money at that job between wear and tear costs on my personal vehicle, regularly not getting tipped, and occasionally getting robbed. The lobby and kitchen in the store were separated by four inch thick plexiglass. I will never give that company a single cent from my pocket.

Domino's is legit. I don't have it often, maybe a couple times a year, but when that craving hits...it slaps.
Funny this popped up. I had Dominos the other night for the first time in years and it was great. Can't wait to get it again honestly.
I got so sick of studying Dominoes in grad school 😅 They are a star case study in business turnaround, growth, and pivoting. They overtook Pizza Hut so much so the Hut had to change their business plan to copy Dominoes. They call themselves a tech company that sells pizza. And there was a Dominoes near the campus.
Im due hard for Domino's especially 2010 pizza sauce, cheese, crust, rewards, Domino's.....Yet I missed the cardboard older pizza. They should bring it back as a tradition menu item ...prob call it old classic 😊!
What's crazy is not only their success. It's an intresting fact that Michigan is the origin state and location for the global headquarters of 4 national pizza chains. Domino's, Hungry Howies, Little Ceasers, Jets Pizza, and smaller companies like Cottage Inn. That's a lot of pizza for one midwest state.

Domino's is pretty OK, as is Hungry Howie's, but Jet's is the best pizza chain bar-none. An 8-Corner Super Special and some Turbo Stix is the standard family order.
What can we say? We Michiganders know how to make great mass market pizza, and a fantastic regional variation with the Detroit style.

@@xavierjuno4572 It would've been the big 5 with Tesla is the auto makers didn't lobby the crap out of local and state government to prevent Tesla on building a factory and offices here. He previously reported that he wanted to come to Michigan, but his attempts kept getting blocked.
