- When it comes to splitting firewood there are a few things to do for increased production and decreased effort. Splitting up a pile of Red Oak rounds with the @EastonmadeWoodSplitters 37D log splitter.

You have a good looking log loader.
That 37D does produce, and effort reducer....BUT...You dumped it all on the ground, now you have an extra handle. Great machine, certainly pays for itself.
Not really, he's just breaking the process down into steps, and doing each all at once.
As per Shifty himself, he sorts through all of it, as there are several purposes for it. Thus, he has to handle.it all again, no matter how he goes about it. This way he can just sort it all INTO totes or whatever, to go where its going. Rather than digging through full totes. ( Which he'd periodically have to stop splitting to move around). Then simply scoop up the leftover debris with the loader and dispose.
Looks counter-intuitive, but really isn't!
Not unlike Chris in the woodyard. He can smash through truckloads of logs fast, with the processor- but then has to go through it and resplit much of it to the size his customers want. The downside to multi-wedges... And if, like Shifty, you're making 4+ kinds of firewood, that just makes it more "fun". Lol.
Having it on the ground in a pile actually works out better for sorting and getting the scraps and slash out from being mixed in with the splits.
So nice when Amanda is helping you with the Eastonmade! Amanda does not look like a large girl, but she is in great shape. I don’t know how tall, but she can move those large rounds easily. She is also looking nice and warm in her winter outfit! Amanda is great boss who helps out her wood guy!
Amanda is in Great shape hope her back holds up. Those are big rounds she’s moving.
Hi Dan!!😀😀
That's a pretty strong log loader and darn good looking too!! LOL!!
Take care guys!!😀😀💚💚

I love it when my bride helps me out splitting wood. I always let her run the splitter and I do the heavy lifting. She weighs 110 pounds soaking wet and doesn't have the muscle to move those rounds.
Good looking ash rounds…yes you have the exact equipment and help for efficiency 👏🏻🇺🇸, just this weekend we commented we need a log lift for our heavy rounds👏🏻🇺🇸
The log lift works great for bigger rounds or any round...lol...can either bring the round up or can be used to put a pile on for a staging table.
Those are oak rounds. 😀😀
Must have been some pretty dry wood, you could hear in the background "bowling pins" hitting the pile off of the conveyor. Nice splitting 👍
Hello Dan & Amanda, The two of you make a great team, Those rounds are a real challenge, All three aspects (Amanda, Dan, Eastonmade) excelled at performance. Well Done.
The heavy lifter doing most of the work! AA for the win.
Dan, have you thought about sharpening the box wedge? It would make the rounds push through faster and probably cut down on the amount of shredding / chafe that you end up with also. I know that Andrew purposefully doesn't make the wedges real sharp in order to keep his crew from getting injured during the manufacturing process.
I've thought about it, just haven't done it yet. Many of the bigger pieces of 'slash' actually come from just the wood breaking, not even off the wedge itself, just like from the wood fracturing apart.
Hi Dan That 37 D is a Game Changer for sure Wow 🤩 does that get the job done 👍💯
That’s pretty good size log Amanda’s moving
Good Morning Dan and Amanda. Your Helper is great one to have around Dan. Moving those Big Rounds of Looked like Oak and Ash. That Eastenmade Splitter is a great one for Production of Firewood. I am getting there and Still recovering, 3 Heart Stents, and have been given the OK to do some Cutting this coming Monday, for a total of 1hour only. See you on Friday Night Live, I hope. Ron from the Woodyard in Duanesburg NY.
Your pushing levers she is rolling rounds. The world we live in.
I know, right...a crazy world indeed. One where a woman can be given a choice and what she wants to do she can do.
Also 'your' is a possessive adjective used like this. Your comment should've started with 'you're' which is a contraction of you and are. Basic grammar. The world we live in. 🤷♂️
@@Back40Firewood very true and I stand corrected just like “you’re” should have been capitalized because it was the start of a sentence.
Really like your videos, but not sure what is was but this one was really beautiful 😊. Great job always awesome to see amazing Amanda back.
Amanda is handling those big rounds. She is a big help. Truly. ”The Amazing Amanda.”
Best way to decrease effort? Let Amanda do the hard part. It appears that no car ports were damaged in the making of this video. lol
Bill
There was one close call on a toss, but skimmed it by no problem...lol
Watch for hernia- young strong and beautiful- but some out way by a lot.
Good thing you have the boss there to keep things rolling along
Ha...yes, she keeps things rolling along for sure.
You keep using those big rounds and your going to break your log loader(wife)
If you'd see some of her workouts you'd know those rounds were a long way from breaking her...lol 😀
Amanda is staying in shape and Dan is....well I think he know (opposite of getting in shape)
Soon she'll have to tie his laces or he'll only wear slip-on footwear..LOL
Good Video.
😆👍🤷♂️
Dan...Great video with Amanda showing her physical fitness! You are one very lucky man!! That splitter hydraulic pump must really generate heat if the oil cooler fan is running. I would think a 25 gallon aluminum fuel tank would have enough surface area to keep the oil nice and cool with snow on the ground. Or does it just run all the time?
Those rounds definitely outweigh Amanda- Careful
Great job Dan & Amanda!! Is she one of those terminator robot gals? Like I could probably move most of them, but I’d also wouldn’t be able to move the next day 🤣🪵
Good thing Amanda helped, you wouldn't have gotten anything done!!😂😂😂😂 Stay Hydrated and Have a Safe Day
LOL...well I would've gotten the smaller rounds split! Hahahahaha
Magnificent!👏🏻👏🏻👍👍🇺🇸
Should move the medal buckets at the end to fill them save a step .
Did anyone else notice how much the radiator shakes on the wood splitter engine?
It's actually designed to do that to absorb the impact of the push plate coming back. The radiator is on rubber mounts that allow for and make it flex or shake.
Good show Dan, but Amanda’s production is above yours 😂 good podcast also🤘🏻🪵🇺🇸
I'm not sure what you were watching, but my shoulder had to push those levers many, many, many, MANY more times than there were rounds to roll to the splitter! 😆💪🤣
Hey Dan, have you ever used the axis style vertical splitter and if so is it more advantageous to use the box wedge splitter to blow through all the wood quickly and resplit sizes in the end or to use the axis vertical splitter to split to the desired size as you go so there is no resplitting?
Works pretty good.
You need to give her a tool to help her out. That 37D just chews thru that big stuff like cheese.
Dan,it seemed like the amazing Amanda wasn’t going to put up with your nonsense there was work to be done ✅ 😮😊❤
Great teamwork and production. Enjoyed the grammar correction on one of the comments, oh the world we live in😂. What was the reasoning for working from the log lift side?
Thanks Obie! With the pullback arm for the box wedge it's actually easier and you have more room to operate from the log lift side.
Always better than doing it yourself 😜
And she only has to do half a workout for legs day! 😀
😊😊😊😊
Seems like a peavy for your daughter could be a big help.
It probably would be for sure...that is if I had a daughter...lol...that's my wife. 😆🍻
check your radiator mount it looks loose have fun
To take your premises one step further,
The more you can get her to do, the less you have to do.
But the ratio of lever pulls I had to do compared to the number of rounds she moved is WAY higher...and she was using both legs, I only had one shoulder doing the work! 🤣
Dan, shouldn't you be loading the log lift and have Amanda split the wood?
She prefers doing what she is doing...have given her the choice every time...she doesn't like to or want to run the splitter.
You don't really need a log loader using that really slow box wedge, you can load the next one during the cycle.
lol..."slow box wedge"....tell us you weren't paying attention to the log splitter without telling us you weren't paying attention to the log splitter! 🤣
@@Back40Firewood It takes 3 or 4 hydraulic strokes to split a small/medium round and 7 to 10 to split one of those big ones while a splitter with a 6 or 8 way wedge will split it in one stroke. One stroke is much faster than 4 to 10 strokes plus the box wedge tends to create more waste.
@@larrycrain5650 but with a 6 way wedge if the splits sizes are not the size you want you end up having to re-split...which then comes out to just as many if not more cycles of the ram. Not to mention you have to move the splits by hand to re-split instead of letting the machine pull the wood back like the box wedge.
Are you both hobbiests?
Whats the name of it
Why splitting it onto the ground instead of Tote/trailer ? Thnx…
It is actually just easier this way to separate out the slash and waste and then sort pieces that I want to keep for my personal burning use and those I want to sell.
My log loader is old and worn out. Were can I rent a new one.
Got any perpetually broke teens or young folk around?
But, But, But, look at all the extra hours and diesel being used between the splitter and tractor..
My Ax won't use any of that stuff. 😆👍
And the hours put on the engine!!! 🤣
hi there if you dont have one get that hard working lady a fiskers pickaroon . so it will eaze her a bit feeding your . good show best to all john
I once heard never give a woman sharp pointed objects when working with them....lol...but actually I think with bigger rounds it's easier to just roll them like that, would be tough to get them up on the log lift using a pickaroon, and then if you don't get the point in and you go to pull and it pops out it swings back at ya...plus she likes the workout. 😆
hi there you roll them to the splitter with the pickaroon then push them onto the log lift , you should never lift logs with a pickaroon it will screw your back up . john@@Back40Firewood
37D IS A SPLITTER AND A HALF, FER-SHER... WACK-IT AND STACK-IT... I COULDN'T HELP NOTICEIN' OLE WONICA OFF TO THE SIDE... I THOUGHT I " SAW-ER " GIVE A LIL SHIVER. MAYBE YOU CAN THROW A BLANKET ON HER AN GIVE-ER A LIL SNUGGLE... WELL, MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU MY BROTHER... PEACE...
Wonica is getting ready for a nice meal coming up...lol...she's gonna have some snarly chunks to split through.
This machine laughs at other log splitters and takes their lunch money.
Some of those hunks were double her weight.
Those rounds are actually nothing compared to some of her workouts she does...lol
Where's the butt cam 😅
Big deal, it can split wood. Let's see it split garbage trucks
😂😂😂
Garbage truck? Pfttt....light weight stuff. Let's see if it can split an MRAP or Abrams tank.
😂😂😂
This thing eats garbage trucks for breakfast, with a side of Australian Dargonite wood!
But using my axe and cross guard saw is the best part in gathering wood. These dang city farmers are getting lazy.
Shift, get going on the carnivore diet and you’ll be splitting by hand and Amanda will be soooo happy!!!
