Hi guys hope you are doing well. In this episode I will take you to the early 19th century Saheb's Bunglow. Tumsong Tea Retreat at Darjeeling.This is an authentic planters bunglow with the century old colonial charm. In this bunglow the Burra Saheb’s of the Tea Estate used to stay. When you check in you will feel the same charm that the old british planters used to feel. It’s a two story bunglow and I find this bunglow very interesting like when you climb the stairs you can hear the sound of the wooden staircase.
The rooms are pretty big and spacious . Well Mr Sanjay has arranged our stay here for 2 nights 3 days the price is pretty competitive compared to other Tea bunglows.
For 2 nights 3 days including food (Breakfast, Lunch , evening snacks and dinner) it cost us around 22 thousand. There are 3 rooms -two mountain view rooms and one garden view room each with a cozy sitting arrangements in front of a fireplace. If your idea of a great vacation is to be among nature re-living a bygone era, this is the place where you can stay like a Maharaja and nothing beasts a holiday in one of the heritage bunglows that has a vast tea plantations surrounding the bunglow. This is TUMSONG Tea Retreat an hour drive from Darjeeling. This bunglow offers a lot of stories and once you sit with Mr Williams he will tell you old stories of Tumsong and its rich History. Trust me you will feel goose bumps when you hear old stories of Burra Sahebs.
In the early 19th century the British Planters started planting the garden and this bunglow is still in its original avatar. We reached here at 12.30 pm and quickly freshened up and was served with lunch. The Food is brilliant and since our little daughter is just 1.5 yrs old they made khichuri for her which she ate gladly.
