NEW 2024 CGI Hazard Perception Test | This is what ALL Hazard Perception Tests Are Like.

- A quick run through of a CGI Hazard Perception Mock test, just to show you exactly what it is like in 2022. I'm not a big fan of the CGI, the hazards seem to take a lot longer to develop. They are more 'Obvious' than in real life. But are also harder to judge.
I score 0 points in clip 14, due to a wagon on a slip road around quarter of a mile away from me, the scoring system judges that the lorry is a hazard whilst on the slip road, but you actually would score 0 points for clicking as the wagon actually pulls out on you. I don't fully understand this.
Clip 19 in the double hazard clip.
I hope people find this useful as i did my Hazard Perception completely unaware that the system was now fully CGI.
Thanks for watching. Comment Like & Subscribe for more future content.
So if you spot the hazard 'too' early, you score zero? Thats just stupid, i would have thought the earlier you are aware of a hazard the better. Seems you have to spot it when 'it' wants you to, plus real life isn't a clicking exercise...
Agreed and Agreed. Stupid AF hazard perception tests.
I think language is an issue. I'm thinking potential hazard perception (the possibility of something goingwrong) and test in most cases say when it does go wrong.
The grey speeding to the junction to our left then ovr steps his give way line is only litte more of a threat than the cars doing the same at lower speeds.
you can still get 1 to 5 points depending on where you click though
Well said!
It’s not stupid it’s smart as hell, makes you pay more to do it again meaning the DVSA earn more money
At 1:50 there is some fella doing tai chi on the left. I'd say that was a hazard.
😂😂😂
teehee
I passed my theory test first time round from watching these clips
Congrats mate :) Happy Days!!
Well done where do u click on hazard perception
@@roberttasnier9894 just click on the screen when you see a developing hazard and onwards it doesnt matter where about's
@@davidmargrave511 thank you so nervous for taking it
@@roberttasnier9894 same here as well however good news is that you can do a practice run before the questions and again before the hazard perception videos and it doesnt effect your score, so it can help you understand and get use to the idea of how it works and bonus tip during your test on the questions they change voices every few questions so just beware of that as it threw me off a little
The cgi clips are way easier than the real life clips (did real clips 10 years ago for my car theory). There is an uncanny valley vibe to the cgi clips (they look real and unreal at the same time) and it's really easy to spot hazards before they happen in cgi because the hazard often look somewhat unrealistic. I think I got almost 100%.
Haha! That's brilliant. 😂 lol. I got my test tomorrow, any tips? :)
In a dictionary, we find that "hazard" means "risk of danger". The point is not if something represents a risk of danger or not, since this kind of judgement is subjective. The point is if you need to break or steer or at least leave some extra room in a certain circumstance. The test is basically meant to measure when you are taking your foot off the gas. However, this kind of experience you only get after you have driving experience. So, the "hazard test" requires driving experience... kind of chicken-and-egg problem here.
In the case of the truck joining the motorway, there's nothing which represents danger or even risk of danger in my opinion... but my opinion does not matter... what really matters is that we need to leave some extra room for the truck joining the motorway. In some other clips, I would employ the very same criteria and I would click in circumstances which would not give me any points really in the end... but we never know when DVLA considers "hazard" or not, since this judgement is subjective. And so, I would click on anything which could require some extra room (a "hazard"), wait 2 seconds and click once again if the "hazard" persists or gets confirmed. If gets confirmed, I would probably count 2 seconds and click once again.
I have 30+ years of driving experience but I don't have a driving license in the UK. My theory test is tomorrow. Let's see if my strategy happens to deliver good results. UPDATE: passed! :-)
in my opinion anything which can affect or change the flow of traffic should be considered a hazard and the van on the slip road is exactly that. it has to speed match with the flow and join the flow which can either go well or not well. it could be argued that this also applies to cars parked at the roadside, but the key thing is moving vehicles present more of a hazard than parked ones by virtue of increased unpredictability. your 30+ years if driving experience should understand this tbh.
Richard I think you raise some good points and confused me with others. Hazard Perception to me is fluid, as are the hazards themselves. In some cases a given in the video, the hazard turns from a Potential Hazard, to a hazard, to a full blown issue.
As pointed out, some of these full blown issues came about because our driver failed to mitigate some of the potential hazards and actual hazards (no speed change or change of road position). Depending on your own vehicle you may not recognise a hazard. A few wets leaves, a flattened drinks can or even an apple core mid corner would be a issue for a motorcyclist, but be insignificant to a car driver. In several clips we saw puddles of water, it is totally possible for there to be an unseen pothole under the water, a bent wheel rim for a car driver vs a crash for a motorcyclist.
I mention these things because you pointed out the Chicken and Egg scenario. This is where the driving instructors skill should play a part, @ashleyneal seems to be good at this.
@@georgecromar4094 True. A puddle of water may represent a risk for a motorcyclist. When I was young my father taught me that we should never drive alongside a truck (or lorry) on a highway, simply because anything going wrong, whatever it is, translates to tons of metal skewing on your direction. Potential hazard, perhaps?
@@richardgomes5420being along any other vehicle (even a bicycle) shd be avoided. Always stagger your road position.
you prolly dont care at all but does anyone know of a method to log back into an instagram account..?
I somehow lost the account password. I appreciate any assistance you can give me.
The final clip; jeez, no way would a partially sighted lady be out crossing roads in those heels
Lmfao!
Further to my previous comments, thank you so much for taking the time to prepare and put this video online. It has helped me considerably. Regards Mark.
Thanks for the help, I was so nervous about the hazard perception but thanks to you I passed first time.
Thanks for showing us. I've been practicing online with the theory and hazard tests, only 50 questions and 3 hazard videos to do but I'm going to purchase the full version and nail it over the next few months.
Thanks your videos on hazard perception just enabled me to pass my motorcycle theory first time. Your videos were invaluable, thanks again! 🏍️
Thank you so much for your your experience you had,I was really struggling with hazards not knowing when to click. After watching this video it enlighten me of how to do it.I have just passed my theory test first time.Thank you so much 👍🏾
Clip 14 is absolutely not a hazard, it's things like this that make the hazard perception test so stupid. Cheers for the video!
Had my Theory test today....watched the video before the test....and used a theory test app....nailed it ...thanks again
Is it same questions on theory 4 in 1
@@zizaboti6308 yes almost the same videos...very close to this and...just follow the video and nothing to worry
@@PabloEscobar-bg1os so u used the app 4 in 1 from play store n it is same questions???
The only video you need when it comes to the hazard perception. Calmed me right down and managed to smash my Theory thanks to this vid.
Nice one mate! 💙
I think you are 100% right. In all honesty it bears no reflection on actual driving. The way it is shown allows no allowance for peripheral vision, alertness or basic common sense. The fact that you can fail on a computer generated video beggars belief. Surely your examiner on the road is a better assessor as to whether you are competent or not?
Just to let you folks know that today I did my Theory test at Preston and NONE of these CGI clips appeared however I did score well so this video will help you...Totally agree with you regarding the lorry on the slip road as whoever decided that is a hazard neither has to get out more or have their Hard Drive checked by a Cybercrime Unit as that is anorak material !!!
Exactly. As a 45 yrs clean /accident free car licence holder, I would have in most situations accelerated into the outside lane to let the truck in.
Completely agree with you on the Lorry, however, these are example clips, they never were going to appear
I just want to thank you (and all in the comments) was really nervous about hazard perception but passed today. I have your video to thank 😊
These CGI clips are great we should really appreciate the use of CGI technology to help with our real life learning!
I was following along and clicked when I saw that houses on fire haha
me too cause of fuel in the car
Thank you so much for this video - passed my bike theory yesterday, and this new CGI hazard perception would have totally thrown me if not for watching this and getting a head's up.
Good luck mate 😁
Thanks for posting as it gives me a good idea of expectations,I'm on the road daily and never bat around as if your rushing you make mistakes👍
Many thanks for taking the time to make this video - I really appreciate it and hope that I am successful in my test on Thursday!
Did u pass?
Did u pass
I think it's the wording of it, it is a hazard perception test but it's actually a developing hazard perception test.
Thank you for posting this. It was really useful. Passed a couple of days ago.
Mate! What a class video got my theory test in about 2 hours and this has given me the bit of confidence I need it finally makes sense!!! Appreciate it mate!
Good luck mate!
among of all the messages on here yours show abit positive toward the video.cause I think it's really helpful
Jack Kail - did u pass buddy?
@@jameschapman3303 I did! Really helped
@@jackkail1224 that's great man! Soo happy for you. Was the hazard test clips similar to these practice ones? :)
Cheers Bro, I’ve got the DVD and am installing it now. Noticed on the front it’s says 2014/2015 Edition! I have also downloaded one of the apps which seems to come highly rated. My test is in 2 days at Lincoln so doing it all now. Thanks again for your uploads mate 😎💪👌🇬🇧
You have helped mate , I’m sitting for the test in 3 days and I learnt lot from your video , cheers
Hi did you pass and was the clips the same
I like your truck collectables there thanks for this video I'm glad I saw what it was going to be like before my test
Thanks lol, i've just made a cabinet for my Dads other 20 or so haha.
Good Luck with your test mate.
Yay thank you! I’ve got my theory tomorrow and was worried about the hazard perception section, but this seems a little easier then the non-cgi practice clips and the hazards are more obvious. Thanks!
BeckyAnn did u pass? I have mine tomorrow too I can pass the questions just struggling on hazard hope this helps me did it help you? Xx
Stephanie White yes I passed!! This definitely helped, I was getting either just 44 or just below so failing on all my practice hazards. The real thing is exactly like this video, I found it much easier then the practice tests! Just a reminder to not click more than 4 times in a row, and 11 in the whole clip. I forgot and clicked 5 times for one of the clips and got disqualified for that clip.
Good luck! I scored 54 in the real thing today, which is by far the highest mark I have scored on hazard perception, so don’t worry too much! :)
Congratulations :) Glad this helped a bit! I failed one of my clips for pressing too much haha! Doh!
@@beckyann4434 well done Becky ( New Certified Driver Now) , I actually haven't book my theory test but what startles me is the hazard perception test to be honest . Seeing the reviews on this video I believe it can motivate me into knowing I could do alright on my hazard practice mock test at home and future in the theory test exam.
Backhand. ... I passed too and I got 57 bonus! Good luck on driving and ur test xxx
Thank you so much for this! I am taking my theory on the 15th Jan. I have been consistently passing the theory practice tests, but hazard perception is something I'm struggling with, I am too over cautious, so this was a great help, good advice and I now have a better idea of what to expect. Thanks again! :))
How did it go? :)
Many thx my friend for this vid ,it helps alot , taking my lessons soon
God bless .love from MOROCCAN

Good sh*t. Was the hazard perception test anything like this practice one or not? :)
These are all the clips within my test and what I was practicing on before you are 100% correct regarding the vehicle coming down the slip road I thought the same but they seem it not to be Nuts thanks for video mate it has help me
Do the mock practise hazard vids come up in my test? Like out of the 80 cgi , do some of them appear, I wanted to ask you.
I had clip 14 on my test yesterday and selected the exact time you did. I still passed luckily,
Got my theory test in just over a week, very helpful Thankyou
congrats any tips please?

@@rhythmybari8487 is it same as this videos?
It's similar. But the actual videos are extremely hazy. So be prepared.
What you just showed and I’ve got the same clips doesn’t give any feed back as to what your doing wright or wrong...... I’m sure a few on a few to not possible to score any points it’s so frustrating
Got mine this afternoon
Had my theory test today and passed it
Am coming back here to say Thank you very much for this video.... funny thing is the actual videos at the test center is even easier.
Can you give me tips mate
Prabhdeep Saini all you need to do is practice mate, this video made it easier for me there was loads of things I was not too sure about it, by reading some of the comments on here made everything easy, for the hazard perceptions test I kept my clicks below 6 and I think it worked.
Cheers mate for the pass. Also nice model lorry collection
Thank you so much, it helped me a lot!
Thanks for ur help; it helps alot to learn and be confident, I passed in the first time.
It’s really handy and useful thank you for the video
This is great. I think the moment you saw the truck moving, that was a developing hazard, you needed to click there. Otherwise you did well and this teaches us well. Thanks
Very Helpful, Big Thank you for your honest opinion!!
Hai deedy it helped much I new to UK n I have no single problem with the practical coz I'm an articulate driver n this was eye opening for me
Thanks for sharing this video. It’s been very useful. I sit my motorcycle theory test tomorrow 🤞
Best of luck mate!
@@Deady2012 cheers Mate, glad to say I passed the theory test this afternoon. Now looking forward to my Mod 1
thanks really helpful.
Yes you were penalised for lorry joining a motorway and you are right it wasn't a hazard until he pulled out.
Really appreciate this and doing mine Mon 21 Oct 2020 so will let you know the outcome.
Hi, firstly thanks for your guide it really helped. I passed but like you I found I messed up on a few and I don't know why and it iOS pi55ing me off.
Firstly someone on You Tube suggested a 3 click method, this is good idea.
I found it relatively easy on the test of 19 clips. You get used to and anticipate people randomly crossing the road, cars cutting you off and emergency vehicles BUT beware. I honestly thought I had nailed it I mean 100% but got 72. I didn't miss a hazard not one. But what I think I did was click to early and didn't always follow up on the 3 click idea for a few. I didn't randomly click but I could of clicked to follow up up on developing hazarded and I think I just clicked too early and thought I had nailed it. Over confident in what I thought was hazard means I think I clicked too early and didn't follow it up with confirmation clicks. The only one when I was late (like 1 point) was a lorry on closed hard shoulder section of smart M Way in rain. The lorry had broken down, it was allowed to use hard shoulder in this instance but I didn't click until driver ( dumb F) opened door and just jumped on onto the road.
Don't get me wrong I didn't get it entirely right on the test but to cover what I perceive as the mistakes I made thinking about follow the 3 click idea. Click when you first see it, follow up closely afterwards and click again again to make sure.
This is exactly the same as the one I did for my car licence back in 2008. If this is it I've got this in the bag 😁
this is brilliant thanks for the upload.
Thanks mate. I had my test this morning and pass. Thanks for your advice. Did help.
Thank you for the video and advice. I’m taking my theory test tonight so I hope it would be of help
Did u psss
I'm studying for the theory test now and I agree about the lorry on the slip road. I do think the CGI clips are much clearer, though. I have spoken to my training company about the real life clips and how ambiguous they can be and how on a lot of clips the hazard is not apparent until the 5 second scoring window is almost expired (eg on a country road coming from shade into sunlight, because of the glare the pedestrian is literally not visible till the glare fades and the score box is on 1).
thanks a lot for sharing this video, definetly helps
Thanks mate ..it's really helpful.BLess🤙
well done sir , good lesson , thanks for your time,
Cheers for this, failed for a 2nd time this morning - aced the m/c but both times times failed by 1 point on the hazard perception...scored 1 on five clips....clicked on mouse as soon as hazard appeared, been a driver for 30+ years...I might bring my own mouse next time (bad workman etc...)...booked again for Oct 16th, my DSA1 3 days later!
Click the mouse multiple times mate. I click 4 times for each hazard about 1 second apart, worked well enough for me. But this CGI stuff is awful!
Good luck next time mate! Let us know how you get on.
Anyone with any real expereince will spot the hazard before the flag is raised, so you think you got it but not according to their timings. So many times I pressed prior to the first flag.
Thanks all repliers, I passed 3rd time but I know only due to the same random arbitrary nature of the test that caused me to fail the first 2 times..it needs a massive review...one could be forgiven for suspecting it an intentional money generator....anyhoo, then passed both parts of my test by Jan 20 and bought a Triumph Street Twin 2018 which I am in love with... spent lockdown using it delivering PPE and food to those who needed it...happy safe riding all...I don't need to tell you to stay alert ;-)
Thats been a huge help thank you so much ..
My test is on Friday
Good luck mate!
I agree with you regarding #14. Great video thanks
Thanks for watching!
Thank you for this video as I failed three times in a row by one mark after watching your video I passed and scored 73 points 👍

Just wanted to ask my theory is in few days and my question is if i pass my theory test and fail hazard does it mean i have to retake both of them?
Im new to this so not sure...

Thanks for the answers guys
@@lewisbates2150 are you sure? if i pass theory test but fail hazard perpection test, i have to retake only hazard perception???? have you been through it before?

Great video! Really useful!
Thanks mate for info.I am looking for latest hazard perception tests.I think new CGI is to much confusing
It was very helpful Thank you
Thanks for posting this. Very good.
Cheers mate.
These CGI renders are a joke. You'd see these kind of transgressions once or twice a year max. They should make them a bit more subtle. A tractor pulling up to a give way at speed is a hazard - you don't need to then go and make it pull out in front of you. But thanks for uploading anyway. Very useful practice, no matter how silly they are.
Theory test pro has all these clips my instructor gave me this content for free when I signed up to do my practical glad to hear this is what you get in the Ho test cheers
stewart soutar it is easier, but can be abit dodgy when hazards are taking so long to actually formulate. It can be difficult to know when to actually click.
Hope you do well, Good Luck.

Good
Passed my test 52 years ago. I kept clicking, and stopping the video almost a second before the "start of hazard" I had to restart the video on almost every one.
I did it because I am thinking of taking my M/C test. Before I had a car I had a 250 RE on L plates, in the days you could.
i done my first theory the over month and failed on my hazard perception, my second attempt is tuesday so learning as much as i can on it now, thank you for the video!
Welcome buddy!
Do you need to pass the theory again or just the hazard perception test?
@@eduardbogles6272 theory test is two part exam, so multiple choice questions and after a twelve video hazard perception, i passed on multiple questions but failed on hazard due to misunderstanding the video, so if you fail either one you have to retake both. which sucks but understandable.
Just today, I booked my Theory Test in Ilford for 10th of June with my friend, which gives both of us a wondow of 48 days.
Roughly 7 weeks, more or less. I've literally "youtubed hop to passm UK driving Theory Test" and came accross these beautiful and informative videos and the comments no doubt here add a lot of value. It certainly gives me a view of different perspectives, of the respective drivers, most of whom have already passed or have experience driving around UK roads for around 30 years.
P.S: By the way, could anyone recommend/suggest me the best way to pass the theory/hazard perception test? Should I just download the app and do the practice questions? Or should I read the book? I'm a bit stumped here, since I'm reeling towards all three; youtube videos, books and app test in phone.
Thanks very much mate.
Got mine in November thanks
Thank you.
They only become a hazard if they would force the driver of the vehicle 🚗 to #change_speed,#Direction or #stop. These are the Some of hazards you must click for. Thank you mate! It is helped me full.
Thanks ☺️👍 great job 👍👏👍😁
This almost caught me out. The website I used (DTS Anytime) has CGI clips but I'd been using the real footage until about a week before my test when someone told me it's changed. The tip I'd had was to click 3-4 times about half a second apart as sometimes you can be too early but I still ended up scoring 0 on a couple.
Still, got all my theory passed just before the November lockdown. Now waiting to take my mod 3&4.
Regarding the clip 14, I called it as I spotted it on the slipway as a developing hazard and did feel you was a bit late responding
I prefer the real thing, I hope it plays a lot smoother when I sit my test as I found it hard to watch compared to actual video
HAHAHA in Australia i kid u not the screens are 144p. I passed all my tests first time just i think the computers need an upgrade
