I am a staunchest supporter for public university. From my perspective, University of California, Los Angeles and Berkeley are the best while University of California (8 other campuses) overall is great too.
Having a Spirit of excellence !. . And making a difference in your world.
America's Top Schools.....
Harvard, Stanford, Yale, MIT, Princeton
CalTech, UChicago, Duke, Upenn, Johns Hopkins
UC Berkeley, Cornell, Northwestern, UCLA, Rice, Georgetown, Dartmouth, Brown, Emory, Carnegie M
Very accurate. I visited all but one.
Very good
Hi how are you doing?
I'm excited
Nice
Cornell amazing in every way❤

I wanted to study at Harvard University many years ago. Nowadays I am Bachelor in Physics and Mathematics, member of the Swiss Mathematical Society. When I was a student I discovered some formulas about partial fractions, now published and downloaded from several countries: Yale university, University of Toronto, Norwegian University of Science and Technology, University of Massachusetts, University of Cincinnati, University of Bogazici, University of Adelaide, universidad de Guanajuato; Russia, Serbia, Singapore, England, Italy and more. Mexican universities don't want to hire me. I have applied to work as a teacher at physics and mathematics careers to several Mexican Universities and they don't reply my emails, since many years ago. It always has been very hard for me to get jobs. I am working as vigilant these months . I studied at universidad michoacana de San Nicolas de Hidalgo , located in Morelia city, Michoacan, Mexico, and they never supported me for envy.
I live a mile from Syracuse University NY. SU is recognized as a student-focused, global research university renowned for academic rigor, richly diverse learning experiences, and a spirit of discovery. They also have a vibrant sports program. President Joe Biden is an alumnus of SU.

The best school is always the one where you graduate. Believe me.

If you believe Stanford shouldn't be there, let me remind you of what Stanford produced.
To name the founders of some industrial conglomerates, Hewlett Packard, Cisco, Google, Nvidia, TSMC, etc. I am sure that I missed many more companies.
California Institute of Technology is perhaps the best in science and engineering but that is all they have. If the rating is about science and engineering, CalTech should be #1. Besides, the student population at CalTech is minuscule compared to the schools mentioned in this video.
Is Ittaca a mashup between Attica and Ithaca?
The following three should be on the list : the University of Chicago, Cal Tech, and Swarthmore College.
Swarthmore is a college, not a university.
How much a university costs does not indicate quality of education!
The proof is in the pudding not the the buildings
Sussex University (UK), Harvard University (USA), University College London (UCL, UK), and Hiroshima University (Japan), where I was a tenured professor (of language and philosophy).
"Ithaca" has an emphasis on the first syllable. You might keep that in mind before making another video on US universities.
Cornell... in I-Tahk-ka, New York
A very solid list.. But Cornell??.. That's the only odd one there. Ivey or not.. Haven't heard anyone be like "OMG you went to Cornell!"
You probably had no college education!!!
I don't know what metrics were used to rank these top 10 in the US, but I would put University of Chicage at 10.

Mm ,mm,.
cornell is also a part of the state university of NY a major part is what used to be called the agriculture college , home economics , industrial and labor relatiions and the vetinary school
I don't think that your comment is completely accurate. Cornell does have certain publicly supported "contract" (or "statutory") colleges which means that those colleges (e.g., Agriculture & Life Sciences, Ecology.) receive regular public funding. Those colleges are also accountable to SUNY (State University of New York) trustees. However those contract colleges are not officially part of the SUNY and, moreover, the private colleges of Cornell (e.g., College Arts & Sciences, College of Engineering, College of Architecture, Art, and Planning) are definitely not part of SUNY.
Cornell is NOT part of the SUNY system. it's a private university and is part of the Ivy League and what samuelweir wrote....
@arnewhouse Yes, you're right!!! However, it is only for Cornell's College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.

I guessed 6 of the 10.
Major omissions: West Point, Annapolis, the Air Force Acadamy, Stanford, and Julliard.
Value for your money: the four service acadamies.
service academies aren't really first rate academically - and Julliard clearly doesn't fit the list
i wouldn't put the service academies at the top. they are great at what THEY do: produce military officers. but in terms of recruiting for business? I would choose graduates from other schools almost 100% of the time. the academy grads almost are never the smartest and they certainly are never the most creative. a lot of them actually have a very hard time with nebulous situations and challenges and have trouble adjusting to life outside the military.
and before you think "i'm crazy", ask yourself: imagine at 28 or 30 being thrown into a war zone in Iraq, given an M4 carbine, and asked to report to your platoon after having had ZERO MILITARY EXPERIENCE your entire life.

UC BERKELEY - first in the country in Chemistry and Physics- best of the best
Princeton is best

The answer is - UC Berkeley!!! You can definitely rate university overall, but if you in certain disciplines it’s all different.
@@___Anakin.Skywalker at what
Putting UCLA above Princeton and Yale is nonsense. Stanford graduate here. 😉
But you have no problem putting UCB above both? You're obviously old school; you see Berkeley as being ranked near the top and UCLA being a lot farther back and just being a university which is good at sports, basketball, etc. Times have changed: UCLA is the harder school in which to gain admission; it's effectively the first public university to have < 10% acceptance rate; cross-admits to both are more likely to choose UCLA; and UCLA pays its professors more. I'm not trying to denigrate UCB; it's just that UCLA has caught up, and in many ways surpassed it, some of which is related to academics. Additionally, both UCB and UCLA draw well from the international-student set, UCB a little better because of its international ranking; and both draw well from the other 49 states, with UCLA doing better with that cohort, because some national rankings have UCLA higher. In addition UCLA is more appealing to prospective students in living conditions, food, sports, surrounding area, as well as having a hotter, more appealing student body. The latter may not be important to you, but you did go to Stanford.
Putting UCLA above USC is nonsense to me.
Private schools like Stanford, Caltech and USC are infinitely better on the West Coast, just like private schools like the Ivy League are on the East Coast…
@@sandramiller1988 Which of the three doesn't belong? Your placing USC next to Caltech is a true juxtaposition; they are at opposite poles.
ucla is garbage, anybody can transfer there with a tag program...
@@jehehdjdjdjdjdj9772 The average gpa of transfers to UCLA is > 3.8, and even those who xfer from other UCs have a 3.8+ average. There is currently no TAG program at UCLA, neither for UCB and UCSD.

I love SFSU! I was going to UC Santa Barbara and my gf was going to school up there. Plenty of time spent
I get tired of them about classes with you all
Same with comments 107 Harvard, Standford, MIT, Yale, Princeton and so on...
Who comes with these nonsensical lists?
Lots of state colleges are as good as the private colleges.
U of Michigan, UC in California etc
As a UCLA grad, I agree that the top publics are amazing. But they are not equivalents of the top private universities in terms of resources. Princeton has a campus on par with UCLA's but for 8,000 students instead of 45,000. Princeton has an endowment equal to $4.6M per student, none of it subject to the political whims of the state. Most of the students are undergrads so they get most of the research opportunities. Etc. At Berkeley and most of the UCs, you aren't even guaranteed housing and some UC students are literally homeless and food insecure. Not an issue at the top privates. At Michigan, some of the students live in windowless rooms. The core educations and quality of students is comparable, but there are many more benefits at the top privates. Of course the publics are a great economic deal for in-state residents.
@@cranburydad no strong disagreement on that.

Old Blue '75 here and I disagree with you. Cal is way overrated. Housing is expensive and sucks. Berkeley is unsafe. People's Park is a 50 year travesty. Too many foreigners go there who don't assimilate or contribute anything of value to campus life. Full of foreign technology spies. The football team is pathetic. There is NO free speech. Horrible politics. Over-sized classes. Very few attractive women, if any. The worst government employees come from Cal. Berkeley is next to crime ridden Oakland. Tuition is ridiculous for an overcrowded campus. Class sizes are too large. Homeless beggars everywhere. The city of Berkeley sucks big time. Not a fun place to be. The problem with your presentation is that your narrative is less than adequate in structure. You ought to have a defined structure following subtitles. All universities u chose should have followed in a consistent manner the same subtitles of information. For example, u could have subtitles of information like: - a. Name of univ & yr founded, location, ownership, area of main campus, student population, endowment, achievements, important alumni, etc. You failed to follow a consistent structure through d narratives. Improve.
Univ. of Pennsylvania, founded in 1740, opened in 1746 as a Univ., is the oldest Univ in the US. Harvard was a College, i.e a boarding school for Indians. It did not organize iinto an Academic Univ, until around 1808!
That's some serious misinformation. Is that deliberate? Harvard was founded in 1636 as a college for training Puritan ministers. They added a small department for educating Indians which lasted for a couple of decades, but it was not the main Harvard.
U Penn added its medical school in 1765. I do not know where you are getting the date of 1746. It did not officially call itself a "university" until 1779. The Massachusetts Constitution of 1779 already refers to Harvard as a university, using the term "The University at Cambridge" at least 5 times and also using the term "Harvard-College". Harvard used the term "University" to refer to itself in the honorary degree awarded to George Washington in 1776.
@@jy7213 Did Harvard grant the Ph.D degree as the Main Terminal post graduate degree during the time period u defined? There is a real difference btwn an Univ. College and a full blown Univ. Did Harvard even have Doctoral programs then? Univ Colleges r not usu accredited to grant Doctoral degrees. If they r it is an extremely short list, btwn 6-8 Degree types!
@@anansi1641 You are talking nonsense. You can say whatever you want but at least have the decency not to make up false information.
@@jy7213 Listen, everything u say about dates of founding and name changing may be factual. However, I don't care what date Mass. Const names Havard as an UNIV.
U obviously don't know what a Ph.D is, the process of attaining one, nor the priveleges/dutes, and the implied powers!
I am a Ph.D. If u r a Ph.D u must have gotten it "ONLINE".
I stick to what I say' An Inst of Higher Learning cannot be accredited as an University if the Main Terminal Graduate Degree is not the Ph.D. The Primary Graduate Programs must confer a Doctoral Degree! This is one reason y some Univ lose accreditation.
Law, Medical, Business School degrees and others such, r not University Graduate School degrees. They do not require the research and completion of a Doctoral Thesis. Every step of the Ph.D process is a "One Shot Deal". There is no 2nd chance!
