I saw it at The Game Awards a couple years ago. SO hype for that game! 😊
The gameplay looks fun but I feel like the game should be better looking. Especially running on PS5. The colors are so flat looking and dull with no interesting lighting and shading. The graphics have no depth. If the actual game looked as vibrant as the concept art, it would be gorgeous. However this reminds me of the old 16/32 bit bait and switch era when box art would looks awesome and the actual game would be a jaggy, low poly /low resolution mess.
Unironically buying Bugsnax day 1.
I'm going to watch this with maximum expectations and ignore what sony said to expect because I'm a high IQ free thinking gameR and no one will tell me what to think and expect.
One thing that I've learned after watching this state of play is that people can't read.

I prefer these extended looks at gameplay. Compare the difference between the original Crash 4 trailer and this gameplay demo; this actually gives me a good sense of how it plays and has me excited, while the original trailer really just showed the art style and skipped far too quickly to get any investment. The Pathless may have been a bit long, but I'd rather be able to skip ahead than be left having no idea.
I definitely agree here. Part of what's turned me off of so many reveals of the last decade it seems is they're primarily all cinematics/prerendered stuff as opposed to actual in engine gameplay. While I'm not necessarily a huge Crash fan, what they showed has me significantly more interested now.
State of plays are too short, not enough gameplay. Now its to long and to much gameplay
I always liked the "there's too much gameplay" argument, considering how anal people get when there's no gameplay.

State of Play was excellent - tons of gameplay. Stoked for Genshin Impact, The Pathless and Godfall. Great mix of games something for everyone!

Yep, I think the only reason anyone is talking about it is that it was the first PS5 game announced and an exclusive launch title... that alone will make some ppl over hype it. Hope we are wrong and its actually decent.

Gameplay is everything. Cinematics in games are usually misleading. In my op 9/10 state of play.
I judge state of plays by how much they make me want to play a game. This SOP did just that.

A bit long winded at times. Let's be real though. Content wise, if this were an Xbox event, everyone would be absolutely shitting on it, but since it's PlayStation, suddenly everyone is happy with what was shown here. If Bugsnax was an Xbox game, people would be tearing into Microsoft, 100%. The double standards are unreal. This is coming from someone who owns both consoles.
I don't even own an Xbox, got no affinity for the brand, been a PC and PS4 player this generation, yet the agenda against Microsoft and Xbox is infuriating. You're completely right, had Xbox done an event like this everyone would be rinsing it on Twitter. In fact, the Inside Xbox episode from back in May was no better or worse than this State of Play episode and it did get shat all over. It's pathetic.

Aeon Must Die devs quit a week before this aired, citing that they were not paid, exploited and mistreated, hope you guys will cover this to bring more light to this matter.
Still no SSX Tricky Remastered
This was a state of play, not a reveal event so I don't get people being bummed about the lack of reveals. I wasn't even expecting anything new and with Hitman VR and the Pathless I thought this was way better than the usual State of Play showings. All you guys saying it went on too long, State of Play is supposed to be an extended look into upcoming games so its supposed to be long, no?
if this was xbox's show, we would not hear things like: "decent show", "not the worse and not the best", "it was pretty interesting" :)
I thought the exact same thing, their 3rd party event was not nearly as well received
The difference is that sony already said that this event would focus on indies and minor games (no big games), wheres microsoft kept raising the hype telling it would be mindblowing
@@LluisMA True but when xbox showed a ton of awesome exciting games or games that we havent seen this whole generation like avowed they also proved that they listen to people as much as vitualy possible but someone made a meme out of one frame of the gameplay from the game that ia not finished and the whole show suddenly is shit. Ps Spiderman bonus mission Miles morales or Horizon 2 are so mediocre yet everything they show keeps making people lie about how awesome it is. And despite all the efforts of xbox it will still be hated.
Lluis M.A. they said no PS5 hardware news, that’s different. MS never said ever it was going to be mind blowing, that was the audience hyping it up.
@@MrDixieNormus they had been saying how powerfull the console was, with all the teraflop and 4k talk, and the footage shown didn't look bad, but it was something that could have well been released in 2015. There was also a huge lack of real gameplay in their presentation (I only recall Halo)
I’d love to see smaller shows focused on smaller titles but I don’t think it’ll happen, you can see with the Nintendo and this show even when the companies set the expectations they still get shit from people who were expecting big announcements
It exceeded my expectations, more information on Crash 4 was great, Hitman trilogy in VR WAS AMAZING and Pathless also looked really interesting.
Overall really enjoyed it.
22:40.. so down on Aon Must Die? The animation actually looks really frkn good. Like pretty much the opposite of crappy flash games. Probably because this is 3D model based, but still... the animation is really frkn fluid in this game. Not sure if its fun enough and if the style can carry an entire game, but... I was pretty impressed with the animation.

Just want to remind people that Imran Khan was 'hinting' that there would be a big 3rd party game at the State of Play last week. Looks like he just reads Reddit (i.e Silent Hills rumour) & repackages it acting like he has insider information

This was a great presentation in my opinion. Sony tempered my expectations and it turned out great because i ended up lovijg almost everything here. If it wasn't for the announcmemt i think i wouldn't have like it

Y’all talked over the dev for Godfall talking about the lore and customization. It’s probably more like Dark Souls (not in difficulty) with some dungeons but a mostly linear path with bosses and an end.
I wanna play Vader:Immortal right now. And let my dad try it(he's who got me into star wars as a kid) but I cant afford PSVR and the ps4 pro upgrade. (Heard running psvr on the base ps4 is not the way to go at all)

Yeah. Exactly. Don't know why people are disappointed when PlayStation was clear on what to expect from this event.
@@overshot8331 I'd say most of the disappointment comes from people not being sure if they will get any further PS5 announcements in this whole game of chicken between Sony and MS. I'm personally a more Xbox leaning fan, but it's essentially the same story from both sides. Drip feeding hype slowly across the year rather than the usual big blowouts at E3 and maybe Gamescon.
So now we're all left feeling like "Well they've shown good stuff, but it feels sort of incomplete", but there's no roadmap for when we will get that news and it's getting more and more frustrating.
This particular event did what it set out to do well I'd say. Crash being a highlight. Godfall looks a touch lackluster on the otherhand, though maybe it'll be more interesting to play than it was to watch.

Godfall looks decent. I was really high on the game before seeing this. I'm still hopeful and it looks amazing. The combat seems a lil stiff. But I think playing it will feel better as well.
Weird how the comments on this were, "it was alright.." Where on the Xbox one everyone just talked mad trash. To be clear I like this better where you guys found the positives in a sea of negatives but maybe do the same for every conference.
Funny since PlayStation people were saying the Xbox event was trash. You see how console wars work?
Sony set proper expectations for this event and even then, what they showed is decent with lots of gameplay. While Xbox was supposed to show their 1st party line up and while Halo had gameplay, everything else was mostly CG or cinematic trailers.

I think Call of Duty is way more likely to associate itself with Xbox this time around. Mainly because of Xbox's focus on low latency, high fps, and esports.
PS has most customers so more money to be made.
@@preyingocelotgames4397 That doesn't make a difference to Call of Duty, they sell their games on all platforms. It only makes a difference to MS or Sony. MS are focusing on low latency, high fps and esports, so it's likely that MS will pay for exclusivity.
Good lord The Pathless looks incredible! I think I completely missed that game being announced before, but it's definitely gonna be a sweet PS5 launch game.
I know this wasn't a exclusive show, but this might be the first generation I buy both consoles PS got the mad exclusives and xbox got power for the 3rd party games. Xbox is going to be my main console, but seeing the stuff Sony's putting out is and has been calling to me. The VR support is crazy and they are making I want to play.

Why do I get the feeling that I'm supposed to like Godfall more than I do? I just feel like Sony keeps putting this game so heavily front and center, saying "care about this! Please care about this!" But it just doesnt look that interesting. The game still hasn't shown any exploration. It hasn't shown anything of the world itself. It hasn't shown any epic boss battles or great sense of scale. Its just the same old boring footage of close quarter combat in the same boring looking halls and courtyards. Every trailer looks so similar I cant honestly tell one from the other.
Well they paid Gearbox big money to get it to launch console exclusive on PS5 so of course they want you to care... but yeah, I agree, the game has not shown anything to be excited about really.

Theres also the fact that both MS and Sony are kinda lacking in the 1st party console launch games so they gotta go find some 3rd parties to fill the void and hope for the best. If the rumors are true Sony is spending a LOT of money on tons of 3rd party timed exclusives so this wont be the last...

Losing interest in Godfall everytime they show it. Weapon system seems really lackluster. 1 light combo and 1 finisher plus 3 supers. Big focus on shield which seems shared between weapon classes. If you're focussing on offense why is there even a shield? Just seems super simple. The gameplay they showed also didn't look too slick. Hyped for Crash 4 and Bugsnax though along with The Pathless
Did you not watch the video? It's as much a weapon as anything else. It's also used for parrying. Having it there doesn't negate the offensive style if the offensive actions reward you. The weapon systems looked pretty robust without being overwhelming. Looks like they're aiming for that God of War kind of area. Bless' basically hits the nail on the head, we really need a demo. This will all come down to how combat *feels* .
@@Hoopla10 yes lol. I agree I just mainly think the ability to block shouldnt be there if the focus is on offense. I more so don't like how every weapon will have the shield. This makes me think the different weapons will feel samey. Yeah a demo is much needed to see how this will all feel. Not trying to knock it I just am not really feeling it based on what they've shown us so far.

Crash 4 looks amazing, as long as they don’t pull a Reignited trilogy and omit 90% of the game from the physical disc I’m all in. Day 1 purchase.
