the scene when zoro made his promise to his captain is legendary in the anime... you'll get goosebumps and tears at the same time. I still remember the dialogue "I'll never loose again....untill the day I fight him and win and become the greatest swordsman...is that okay Pirate king?"
Yeah bro it was also good in the live action. But it pisses me off that he didnt say is that okay pirate king. Why did they left this out😭😭
Even luffy giving his hat to Nami was iconic. I wouldn't say they ruined it here but Nami's desperation, her anger and most importantly that voice acting was peak.
i actually think they purposely made the iconic scenes "inferior" in a sense to the anime/manga, it's servicable on it's own but the live action was made to attract new fans to the series. Wouldn't it be great when the people who haven't read/watched the manga/anime finally do it and be surprised at how much better it is than the live action?

It's always a problem with western directors, They don't understand emotions. In the anime, when Zoro was being insulted, Luffy was angry, but was holding himself.
Its always fun to see new people getting introduced to the world of one piece
Guys don't spoil the experience for them, let them enjoy, and let them make theories, cux that's still what we do as an manga/anime fan...

Mihawk is one of the strongest character in the entire verse. And his introduction so early in the story is clear way of telling how weak our straw hats actually are compared to big baddie that we will see in the grandline.
About mihawk , i think they should've mentioned his name 'HAWKEYE'....

i mean he is the strongest swordsman so yes he is very strong, also i liked his entrance in the anime better where he just enters cutting a ship into 2, I'm glad they still kept that scene where he cuts a ship in 2 easily like it was nothing big for him, also i like that little boat he moves around in, in the sea

About "hawkeye" mihawk. There was someone who came into baratie hungry and said 50 ships and 5000 men destroyed, it was mihawk lol. He killed their captain don kreig in his intro. mihawk's character design and portrayal is very anime accurate, cocky, serious and also wise and cool af. Achara is right, he is a one man army, only pirate who doesn't have a crew. Also you can see young mihawk and shanks in the episode 1 intro during Gold Roger's execution. His fight with zoro in anime and the promise he makes later is legendary. You can watch the clip on youtube.
I love how Jaby predicted Mihawk probably knows who's hat it is after he says Luffy has a nice hat, not seen any reactors able to read between those lines, awesome work!
Mihawk introduction is just a glimpse of how powerful the one piece world is with countless powerful character that is yet to be introduced.
I love that they put in the bit about Zoro getting lost on the way back to the house, because getting lost on a driveway is very much a Zoroism.
Mihawk's actor in the OPLA has a similar vocal style and tone to Japanese voice actor Junichi Suwabe, who has a very charming and attractive vocal style himself

He’s one of my favorite seiyuu!!!! But he isn’t the voice actor for Mihawk. He does however voice Vergo.

OnePiece has insane World Building, Eiichiro Oda is delivering more than GRRM since last 26 years on a weekly basis and still Peak. The Live action is successful in bringing a new audience to its world.

what i like more about this show is that they made every transition shots feels like a manga..lots of manga shots here...thats so cool
yeah, it was manymany years ago since i read the early chapters, but i got nostalgia flashbacks and remembered certain manga scenes when seeing the live action. Even certain characters that i forgot about i remembered when seeing the live action actor in custome.

Also, regarding Zoro's swords. This is the stuff they left out in live-action. He first used only one. Zoro's biggest goal at one point was defeating Kuina and surpassing her in combat. In total, he challenged her 2001 times and lost every single battle. During these battles, he kept adding swords assuming it would help him to beat her. He learned to fight with 3.
It is very interesting how you talked about Aesop's Fables. While it hasn't been confirmed, there is speculation that Usopp is a combination of Pinocchio and Aesop. If you look up a picture of his anime counterpart, you'll know why

I actually really love the wide angle close-ups, it's a cool way of isolating our character in the shot, and the way it warps the image a little adds to the sense of surrealism.
I feel like it could be used alittle less but I do like it.

@@SolitaryLarkApparently the reason that is so prominent is because they filmed during COVID, and did what they could to stay socially distanced. According to what I heard anyway.
As a One Piece fan, I cannot stress enough how much I'm happy about the results of the first 8 episodes. Sensei Oda's finally doing it. They're going to have wayyy more budget on the next season! I'm so happy because it goes wayy wayyy better. Trust us when we say this, you're on this ride, there's no getting off now and you're absolutely gonna love it.
I like how Mackenyu went from the final antagonist of Rurouni Kensin to
Zoro, one of the most beloved character from One Piece alongside with the protagonist.
I love the comparison of Mihawk to one punch man. It's so freaking accurate and I love that people can get that simply by what the character does and how he carries himself, the scriptwriters and actor really nailed Mihawk
Honestly, it warms my heart seeing people who've never seen the original actually like the live action. Really shows it's perfect for seasoned veterans and newcomers. Also, fun fact the reason he wears shoes and not Sandals is actually because it's against filming codes to film while wearing sandals, too dangerous
I love what they did with Mihawk in Live Action. However, I wish Mihawk told Zoro, "Time to show you how big the world truly is," as he does in the manga because Mihawk is one of, if not the strongest character alive in the series, so his appearance in East Blue and the realization that even after 1000 Chapters Zoro is still not stronger than him in retrospect is one of my favorite quotes in the series.

The actor who plays Mackenyu is the son of a legendary action star "Chiba Shinichi"; who's famous for his martial arts and his sword fighting for films and theatre. Chiba trained Sanada Hiroyuki among many big action stars. Watching Mackenyu using the Japanese 'Tate' style of sword-fighting is wonderful to watch. Rip Chiba.
No matter how many times or in whatever form I see Zoro's promise, it always hits. Jabs got teary eyed as well.
Dracule Mihawk (Hawkeye) is part of a group organized by the World Government called Shichibukai ( 7 Warlords of the Sea), Oda took some historical reference on this one, these pirates are called "Privateers", in exchange for safe passage in the sea, they do some illegal stuff for the authorities, while they turn a blind eye on their activities, Mihawk is but one of the Seven. Netflix must not fumble on this anime adaptation.

25+ years of work 1090+ manga chapter and it's just a introduction to this world now the real story begins The One Piece.
I love live-action Helmeppo so much, they handled his character incredibly well and his relationship with Coby is perfect (better than anime). The actor playing him is probably the best cast in the series alongside Buggy and Kuro.
As a die hard one piece fan who has cried multiple times watching the anime.
The first episode of the live action I was like "yeah it's okay but not that great"
Then it started to really grow on me, after episode 2 i binged the whole thing. It is surprisingly a incredibly well done adaptation💯❤️
In anime luffy deduces that the cat guy always warps in a straight line. So he predicts his trajectory in the end and whoops his ass. This is based on what i remember about the first few episodes so dont quote me. I have watched 1074 episodes and read 1091 chapters so its been a long time.
2:48:25 yes in One Piece most of the chracters have a tragic backstory, in anime we will see backstory of majority of character, whether its hero, or a villian, or a side chracter we will see why they have become like that.
Probably Luffy is the only character that have uplifting backstory

Niten Ichi-ryū is a Japanese sword fighting style that uses two swords. But it uses two different ones a katana and a wakizashi.
Edit: more precisely in this style there are techniques called Niten Ichi, which use two swords.

I know right!!? I was wondering the other day about how cool it would be if they put few soundtracks from the anime and boy it had me emotional when they did😭😭
it's good you guys are enjoying it, this live action was very well made, also lots of people have been confused thinking some characters have powers or ate devil fruits, but in this world if you train hard enough you can get super strength, it's just that in live action it's hard to show it like a natural thing to have, mihawk cutting the ship in half for example, was just him using his body strength to cut air to send the cut flying.
The Robin Williams one was called "Hook". It was the first Hollywood movie I ever watched. Also Peter Pan was my first fairy tale book, it was massive and it brings back some of my best childhood memories. :')
The actors gave their best, the visuals are breathtaking and they cleverly chose from the manga that which scene would be the best and appropriate for live action(Like Ussop's nose etc)!
And looking at the results I am overwhelmed.
It is #1 trending all over the globe and in Bharath too and broke the streamers smash hit record held by the stranger things and Wednesday!
And i am sure people will go nuts when season 2 and 3 releases because the storyline is breath taking(Those who have seen anime can understand what i am saying)!
I would like to appreciate Netflix for bringing my favorite show into live action, Even though many big OTT's had the record of having series of flops and delivered mediocre live actions, Netflix took all the RISK for one last time that to with a freaking 144 million dollar budget(which is greater than Game of thrones season 1 budget).

I take this as evidence that Mihawk has never been to Drum Island.
Throughout these episodes "Garp" is shown as very serious person even the signal for rogers's execution felt evil.
Hopefully as new seasons will come they show more light hearted + somewhat laughs are necessary for this character otherwise this "Garp" wont be THE GARP from manga which we love😊

So far in the live action series Luffy has only fought one other Devil Fruit user: Buggy The Clown. Everyone else are just skilled and fishmen are naturally stronger and faster then humans.

Honestly I love serious garp. I dont think i would enjoy him quite as much if he were as light hearted as Luffy at his age

In LA, he’s more worried about Luffy and really needs to do what he can. Time is of the essence and he can’t play around. But when he has that reassurance, he can lighten up more.

2:43:00 i dont think it's a japanese style either, back when zoro was in training, he wasn't able to beat kuina in one on one combat so everytime he loses he just increases the amount of swords, thinking that it would help him to beat kuina, at one point in the shonen manga he used 6 swords style, if i recall correctly, and of course it didnt work out for him, so he quickly realise that he can't wield six swords at the same time, and thats how he stick to the three swords style.

OK, so Devil Fruits are not the only way to gain Power in One Piece. You can gain different types of Power by training too like in Kung fu movies. Like Mihak being able to cut Ships and Mountains easily was due to sword training for Years.
Just a little bit of intro about the power system since Jaby and Achara seems way too confused about it.
The manga is actually fairly digestable compared to the anime, since you can read the manga in like, 5-10 minute chunks if you want instead of tying yourself to a chair for 300 hours like the anime.

That's a fair point, and the One Piece anime is certainly worth the watch, I love that we have three versions of this story and all three feel like the same story and characters, but are different enough to have their own pros and cons.@@sarveshsinha1530

in the anime, they have given more in depth details as to why Luffy got them in the crew; every member in the crew has got its perfect role, luffy being the captain, he thought zoro would be the perfect rightin hand, asked nami to join cuz she was good at navigating, ussop for being yassop' kid and in way being the owner of the ship and sanji when he was looking for a chef

Usopp is an incredible marksman and can multiple shots with a slingshot almost like a machine gun and every shot can match a rifle.
Disappointing that we don't get to see that in the live action.

Hyoho Niten Ichi-ryu is a famous Japanese dual sword style conceived a famous swordsman - Miyamoto Musashi. That said, it is usually means using a katana and a wakizashi (a shorter sword) instead of 2 katana. It is very much the origins of dual swordplay in anime and manga.

@@shraddha29 start from 1st episode you will feel like watching same thing with more scenes. Also you will connect more with character and understand them. Live action did a great job but still some aspects people didn't get of main characters
For manga/anime fans, watching higuma threatening shanks is the most hilarious thing. Knowing what we know, shanks and the red haired pirates were genuinely amused watching the whole thing, it truly was entertaining for them😭😂😭😂

Let me just tell you how crazy mihawk is and how crazy it was to introduce him so early. Even after 1000 episodes, even after zoro facing off emperors, admirals and warlords and commanders, mihawk still solos zoro pretty easily.

@@sogekek he cant be better than mihawk. Mihawk is considered the strongest swordsman despite there being swordsman like shanks and figarland and one being in gorosei itself. One piece is far from ending and zoro being par with mihawk or surpassing is an end of show event. Zoro doesnt even have a black blade.
I guess that's one thing I notice in this series. while they are not afraid to show violence and injuries, they are not generous with showing blood.
