This was THE FILM that got me into anime. I've watched this anime so many times, it never fails to give me those emotions of bittersweetness. She reset everything that made her who she was just to save him. Also I love how all it takes is the song playing in the background near the end of the film to remember those feelings. God I love this anime. Shame AO failed to deliver for me, it felt so confusing to me. The picture of them holding hands at the end is my phone background.

Hi evo 2 stated renton died due to them touching the silver box while in nirvash but that wouldn't make sense in the OG because nirvash left so there wouldn't ever be another chance for renton and eureka to touch the silver box, henceforth they lived on happily, it couldn't have been a dream if it actually was the happy ending. Besides, there's already plentiful of loop holes in the spin offs and I doubt any of these spin offs were planned from the beginning anyway so OG will always be the definitive edition of its own story
Actually they said everything outside of the original series was connected. In Eureka’s universe, Renton died because of her mutation, so she used silver box and created the THIS movie, the manga, the games, and the spinoff series.
I remember randomly picking up this up from my local library, knowing nothing about it and loving it. It was my first introduction to Eureka 7, and man what a wild ride that would be watching the series. man good times

Hi-Evolution 2 and Pocketful of Rainbows both end on a beach, like End of Evangelion did back in 1997. Hi-Evolution is just a bootleg Rebuild of Evangelion, just like the show was a bootleg of Evangelion itself. But nobody cares to think about that because "Bones can't do any wrong!"
@@TNTspaz Idk, the budget increase for PFoR, the music, the recontextualization of character motivations, and this *fucking* ending are always going to hold a special place in my heart. I'll give some leeway on AO, I definitely wish it was handled slightly better in the pacing department, and character motivations are a little one dimensional, but within the context of them all being contained in this one multiversal continuity (kinda like Gurren Lagan) it works. I would have paid good money to see this in theaters, and do think this is a great way to introduce the show to people...

@@phoenixdown69 it's been a while since I saw the movie but if i recall correctly the dates don't line up. the movie is still set in the 21st century long before the events of the show. If you look at it from that perspective(ignoring the obvious reuse of characters) there is little to suggest the two stories don't coexist.
I don't know where you got the idea if this being a prequel since eureka 7 the original anime was by all definitions a master piece for a number of reasons from how the creator used to tell a story that was a coming of age story but also end of an era or a generational gap story. There's a lot of ways to look at and interpret the original and like with anything that makes a big wave there will always be other inteepretstions to the story and whether they can deliver on it or not depends. It's been awhile since I saw this movie so I'd have to watch it again to see if there was a point to it but this is far from the only one that told a different version of eureka 7 given how the manga adaption was very very different from the anime both in tone and character. And as much you dislike or like this movie this hasn't been the worst thing coming out eureka 7 since far as most are concerned Ao already has that title of worst in the series.

@@omarawilson2853 Hi-Evolution 2 made everything prior canon, including the manga, the hair thing was not explained, but thats not important, In PFoR, that universe's Gekkostate was trying to get to "Neverland" that happened to be located in the original show's universe, Astral Ocean took place a thousand years before the original show, after Eureka time traveled back in time.... in Hi-Evo 2, there is a version of Eureka that lost Renton, and she was going through alternate realities to find a reality where her and Renton can be together, and she explains to Anemone that she has lost count to how many realities she has been to, and the movie shows pictures of a ton of different realities that happen to include every past media bones has made... so... every show/manga/game is cannon
Deathly Price I thought it was confirmed that the ending of the original series was just an alternate version of Eureka Seven the original Eureka had made? She said this to Anemone and even said that every reality she’s created had been a failure including the manga,the light novel, AO, the original series and PFOR. We even saw in the flash of all these things in Hi Evolution 2. I’m pretty sure it was big retcon with bones trying to fix what was canon and what wasn’t. I don’t accept Hi-Evolution as the definitive canon and was content with the original series. But you can’t really argue with the creators of the series.

I like to think of this scene as the aftermath of the end of the series when they fall back to earth.
