    Very interesting that he said that we're afraid that our families are going to cut us off. but they already have emotionally in many ways. a long time ago. Learning a lot about narcissism

    This counseling works for me! Thank you. I am 88 and struggling with cptsd and physical health issues. But Jehovah and his written word give me hope and then incentive. I once used the illustration that putting on the Christlike personality is like Wearing a new dress while dieting. It may feel uncomfortable for a while but if one keeps trying to improve, it eventually does fit and feels comfortable. ❤

    Wow. When he talked about his mother having a panic attack on the mono rail at Bush Gardens, I had completely forgotten about a similar experience when I was a child. My father was sitting next to me on The Scream Machine at 6 Flags. My sister was in the cart behind us and slipped underneath the safety bar and into the floor board. It was a wooden roller coaster. When the father realized he started panicking. Reaching around behind him trying to get his hands on her to hold her down. I can remember his eyes bulging and not being able to reach her. We never talked about it afterwards.
    I have had a fear of bridges and I know it was that experience that has not been healed. How could it, it was buried. Thank you for sharing. You were heard.

    I have a hard time accepting the “fake it til you make it” idea because I faked being ok so much as a kid. Is this really a healthy practice?

    • @TheIntimacyGram
      @TheIntimacyGram  Před rokem +5

      @The Zack, you raise a good point. I think it depends on if you are "faking" what and how others want/expect you to be. On the other hand, if you attempting to ignore negative self talk, and are "faking" the confidence you wish to attain, then that is a different scenario.
      Did you like the presentation? This was the first time, ever, that I gave a speech in front of a large audiance. I was used to interactive seminars, which is much different than carrying an entire presentation. I sat down with my sponsor the week before to do a trial run... and nothing came out of my mouth. Total blank. I became terrified that this would happen on the night of confrence. How did I overcome this? "Fake it 'till you make it." I emulated the great speakers who I have heard before. I chose who I wanted to be, and faked it until I got there.
      It's like a Dumbo feather. You have the ability to become your own Loving Parent. You hold onto that feather until you realize you really didn't really need it all along. :-)
      Thanks for listening!

    Is it me or did the opening split second of YMCA come on around 8:41? Must have taped over it when they made this.

      @TheIntimacyGram  Před rokem +1

      No, I ended the presentation by inviting everyone to stand and join in a little YMCA fun with me. The intro you hear at 8:41 was just a tech glitch by the sound person. We got there eventually!

    Love this, Thank you! Really great!
    Side note: Have to mention that gas is higher in places (countries) where healthcare and education is more accessible because of the gas tax. Gas companies profited $200B in 2022 in the U.S. We might be grateful that we have the option and privilege of complaining to our politicians 😉

    So another expert speaker ...so much influence/ control over a group of people which gives the authority to tell peeple what to do..
    when a speker says 'all raise your glass' l think three things..control/arrogance/and lack of humility...
    so, sorry to say...there is NO message here for me..
    Ps..good luck with that speaking career..

      I couldn’t have said it better. 30 years ago I discovered ACOA . Here in Ireland, And it has changed my life. That support group is no more. What’s ther now are control freaks from AA and Alanon. . Tony A would be ashamed of the control structures . So as a result, I set up a group biased on a 30 year old format. Which basically says this . Yesterday’s pain is today’s lessons . Today’s lessons are tomorrow’s blessing. I have been reparenting my self with gentleness , humour-love and respect.
