    Great review. 👏🏼 I own an Eastman SB57. Best guitar I have ever played (and I tried several >£2000 Gibson, PRS, and Fender strats). Incredible built, feel, and sound. And as hinted in this video, amazing electronics quality: Lollar pickups in my SB57 with amazing clarity and if you open the back cavity, you’re in for a big surprise… orange capacitors and probably hands down the cleanest wiring job you could get.

    I picked up an Eastman T64 and I've so blown away Im literally speechless. Can't believe this brand flew under my radar for so many years.....i personally recommend you go for their higher end models if you can afford it. I paid $2400 Canadian for the T64 (about $1800 USD) and I can truly say it's comparable to a custom shop Gibson in every respect. The build quality, the feel, the way it all comes together is just fantastic. The quality and price almost defies logic.....

    I've had my eyes on Eastman for a while now and owned an E10? (rosewood OM) flattop and 515 mandolin about 15 years ago. Both instruments were good, with the guitar as I remember being somewhat exceptional. I remember back then, the guitars were about your only options for an all solid wood, Martin based instrument finished in nitrocellulose at a fairly affordable price. Looking at them again, not much has changed. Blue ridge is still around, (I owned one of those too, an all solid rosewood dread). Nice guitar, but not really in the same league. The only complaint I had back then is that some of their bursts look "splotchy" or "cloudy"? Tough to describe, but some of you might know what I mean. The antiqued varnish finishes (light relics?) look very interesting and well done. I also play mandolin, and can really attest that a well done spirit or oil varnish is the most beautiful and best feeling instrument finish you can get IMO. Besides Collings (expensive!), and maybe Martin (likely super expensive!) Eastman is the only one doing these on a factory level that I am aware. Although the prices are not quite as affordable as 10 years ago, they are still a strong value, especially when you consider a varnish. I am lusting for a LP jr and an arch top bad.

      Lollar p90s probably. That was a T64 I think. I have a vintage les paul but I've always wanted a hollow body electric. I don't have a huge budget so I started off looking at an Epiphone 335 equivalent. Sounded nice but the salesperson in the shop put an Eastman T64 next to me and said have a play of that once you've finished with the Epiphone. OMG. Chalk and cheese. The Eastman cost a bit more but I've never played a guitar I liked as much. I swear my playing immediately got better. Stuff the extra cost, still really affordable and so nice. I bought it on the spot and I am so happy I did.

    My personal experience of Eastman guitars is that they're on a par with the best that the west has to offer. In terms of Gibson, they're as good as most that Gibson's Custom-Shop is putting out but superior to regular American product-line guitars. They don't appear to have encroached upon Fender-territory so far, and PRS are safe too; but they're a force to be reckoned with. I'd happily choose any Eastman over a Gibson when it comes to internet purchases.

    I feel like in a lot of American brands a lot of the price tag is based around brand much like Levi’s and nike(which quality is usually worse than lesser brands)
    And Eastman bases their price on the quality of the instrument because they use better woods, better pickups, and better finishes
    For example a gretsch g6130 is $2800 on average or more whole a Eastman t58/v is $2300 and has maple binding and tv Jones with nitro vs gretsch buckers and poly with plastic binding to me the Eastman had a much better voice and feel and the gretsch feels too expensive for what it is

    Got a t64 goldburst (casino type hollow body)and had to sell my 1960's gibson 330...not even close..the eastman is far superior in every way...if you can compare it to the new usa epi casino for over £3k you will laugh out loud at how cheaply made and mass produced the epi is. These are handmade guitars made by master luthiers using traditional techniques..I'm a luthier and can tell tell how good they are. I'm selling all my expensive guitars (mostly gibsons)and replacing them with their eastman equivalent. No other guitar company to my knowledge does this vintage hand rubbed antique varnish finish (traditionally used on violins and cellos etc)..It is an absolutely stunning look...far classier than the gibson or fender custom shop's attempts to replicate age and wear..and it plays and sounds amazing..try them if you get the chance..they're a hidden gem.

    There is always a reason when something is too good to be true! Eastman guitars are made in Chinese factories under dreadful conditions for the workers, if you ever saw how they are treated you would never include an Eastman in your review again. Do your own research before buying an instrument because someone paid a price so you can get a bargain.

    • @letmeooze
      @letmeooze Před 2 lety +1

      I thought they had their own shop and were separate from the common Chinese factories most people think of? If I remember correctly that was the selling point when they started to show up on demo channels. There's no doubt they aren't getting paid enough for the work they do in comparison to other countries though, but I was under the impression it was significantly better working conditions than the factories putting out the $100-$500 stuff for Squier, Epiphone, and all the other budget line stuff. Do you have any information on Eastman's manufacturing? I'm gonna be looking into it myself now too.
      If you are correct, I'd recommend for all reading this to look into Godin guitars. Predominantly made in Canada with some production in the states. Very high quality for the money.

    • @johnblack4382
      @johnblack4382 Před 3 lety +2

      @@bazitube390 oh dear where to start, first I think you need to re look at WW2 how and why it happened and the atrocities perpetrated by the Japanese military let alone the culture at the time of the Japanese. Okinawa saw the deaths of over 300,000 people. Of the 120,000 Japanese soldiers only 3,000 surrendered due to Japanese culture. On mainland Japan there were over 2 million soldiers alone who would fight to the death. The carnage would have been horrific. The deaths of130,000 to 220,000 from the bombs whilst horrific were far less than an invasion would have been and that is on the civilian population. As for China not wanting to support a regime such as theirs goes way beyond a lad leak ( which they denied). The evidence shows in all probability that the virus came from a lab. Whilst I am sure that this was accidental closing down Wuhan but allowing flights out of China was NOT. Or we could talk about Tianamen Square or the persecution of minority Muslims, or the Social Credit System or the threatening of Taiwan or the Belt and Road programme, or the theft of intellectual property, should I go on. People had no issue with sanctions on South Africa to fight he apartheid regime why so reticent to do the same with China. Open to a debate any time.
