Dyson studies the science of pet hair, and how to remove it.

  • Dyson's microbiologists study how bacteria spread from pet hair, helping to develop better ways to trap them.
    Dyson's design engineers and microbiologists have spent years helping to develop innovative vacuum-cleaning technology.
    In Dyson laboratories, design engineers use high-speed cameras and Dyson-developed hair-tracking software to better understand how hair behaves in the airflows of our machines. Helping to develop the hair removal technology in Dyson's Motorbar™ cleaner heads, and the Hair screw tool. Also the Dyson Pet groom tool, which can capture loose hairs before they fall around your home.
    Dyson microbiologists study the bacteria, allergens and pet dander that cling to pet hair, leading to the development of Dyson's fully-sealed filtration system. Helping to limit the spread of potentially harmful microscopic particles around the home.

      I'll eat my hat when any vacuum manufacturer can devise a machine to deal with Newfy undercoat walked into carpet without resorting to the 'chicken scratch' to mechanically rub the floof out the carpet.
      All the dog hair demos are of hair loosely dropped onto a surface.... Not like the real world.
      We took our big fuzzy dog to the Dyson demo, stripped a little of his coat and dropped it onto the short demo carpet, stood on it and went over it with a v15. It picked it up but got wrapped up on the anti wrap brush bar!

    We got the V8 stick vacuum and it is great even though a bit weak. I apperciate to see all mess that is collected in the bin. However, after having used the V8 for a few months I understand why Samsung has developed a special dust collector bin for their stick vacuum. Emptying the V8 bin is a dusty mess. I have to emty it in the garage.
    I hope Dyson will develop a smiliar bin in order to keep the cleaning chain clean. There is no point in awsome cleaning if the mess is dispursed in the air during emptying of the bin....

    I went from a dyson v10 absolute to a karcher WD3 (literally 10 times cheaper) it's so much more convenient not having the roller pull wires, toss big objects away from the vacuum, the fact that you have continuous high power (and not 6 minutes on dyson). You also never get hair tangled as there is no roller (for carpets I bought a 15 dollar roller that does the job (same if not better than the dyson)).. It's way lighter, has a much bigger tank and can be used as a blower. I don't think I'll go back to a wireless vacuum any time soon for house cleaning. I'll still probably need a wireless vacuum from small vacuuming (like crumbs next to a table or cleaning, etc) because the karcher is bulky and not practical if you're going to use it 10 seconds.

    I can’t believe how flimsy the trigger mechanism is on the Cyclone V10. Broke in less than 1 year. Is that something you spent some R&D on?

    Shop vac works better for knocking down dust. Just run a pipe to vent the exhaust outside. No special filter needed

    So, Dyson, I am sold. I have a husky and a cat (shorthair). My apartment is tiny but my current vacuum does nothing for it. What do you recommend that’s compact, under 200$, and does well on laminate floors? The only carpet is the single rug in my bedroom. I don’t have a lot of storage space but I have a huge hair problem. Bonus points if it can handle the remains of dog toys as mine is a chewer, but I am okay just using the shopvac for that and the potential new one for after.

    They also get stuck in the bearings of all Dysons I've had so far. You can't remove it because the gear that rotates the brush is molded on the axle. Over time this overheats the bearings and it actually melts the gear. In 8 years I've went through 4 motorized specialty pet brushes. So yes, it removes pet hair from the couch, but it wrecks the vacuum cleaner. Now we use a Philips which costs a third of the price with a simple static strip on the end and that removes hairs more efficient and doesn't break. No more Dyson for me

  • @Spheredalai

    aren't you the one that made that propeller-less fan that turns out to be incredibly loud and less efficient than conventional fans?

    • @stxrrynight0089
      @stxrrynight0089 Před rokem

      1) it's literally just as loud as a dishwasher. 61.5 decibels.
      2) you can't go "oh it blows less wind so its less efficient" ofc the air is going to be slower when you pass it through multiple stacked filters
      3) its WAY safer than most fans with their blades exposed
      4) it cleans the air (ref. 2)
      so yeah shut up 🤡

  • @cimapiusmaliakal4900
    @cimapiusmaliakal4900 Před 2 lety

    Yeah it’s great and all at cleaning and keeps all the dirt and dust inside….that is until you try to empty the container. There’s no bag so emptying it shoots out all the dust you justcollected into the air and everywhere! We had this for a little but eventually returned it because of this flaw! I hope they fix this on the next version. The science is cool but in practice could use some work.
