We use Illustrator at work. We taught ourselves but never learned how to use layers. We use the pen tool for lines and line-curves and it’s very time consuming. Layers seem so much easier! Hello! Firstly thanks a lot for providing great free content! The lecture+demonstration was very clear and easy to follow even for an Illustrator beginner as me.
    I have two questions:
1- is there a specific reason for mirroring every piece as the process goes, instead of drawing one complete half and mirroring it at the end?
2- how do you control scale on flats? I understand buttons and simple shapes, but I’m curious about more complex and 3D geometries such as the collar pieces.
Thanks again for the great content :)

I find it so useful ! I never got cad in design school so I leaned on flat pattern making but even so it was hard to find a job that didn't require this. I'm good at doing flats by hand using french curve. I feel I was cheated at that school who did not prepare creatives for the real world. I'm still in love with this process what do you recommend for someone who's been out of touch for more than a decade?

Choose the Anchor Point Tool (the upside down V shape next to the pen tools), and just click on the line you want to curve and pull it out. Another way to create curved lines is to click on one of the anchor points and pull out to one of the sides. You will see two arms coming out from the anchor point and you can use these to adjust the curve 😀 Love T

@@auroracortez2022 In order to create a curved line there are two ways of doing this: When you use the pen tool you click and make an anchor point where you would like to start. When you add your second anchor point you click and drag and you will see that the line you just created curves as you move your mouse. The two arms that come out from the newly created anchor point are there for you to pull and adjust the curve as you would like. The other way to create a curve is to use the Anchor Point Tool, (the upside down V shape next to the pen tool. If you don't see this you may need to click on the small arrow at the corner or side of the pen tool symbol). When you used this tool you can click on any anchor point and simpply drag it to curve the line. The two arms will appear from the anchor point and you can pull and move these around to adjust the curve. Love T
