    Just did mine today. 2019 Civic ex-t . 54,000 miles. Got mine from O'Riley's. I like O'Riley's over AutoZone because the guys at O'Riley's are actually knowledgeable, helpful, and know about cars. They aren't trying to sell me a bunch of crap from the front of the store. They don't burp, swear, and fart and act like they hate their jobs 😆. The local AutoZone here is a friggin joke. Anyway, super quick job, mine looked exactly like yours when they came out. I also picked up the 14mm spark plug socket from O'Riley's. I was surprised they had it. They even have new oil drain plugs, transmission plugs, etc. It's funny you use the 303 because I do the same thing. I like keeping my engine bay super clean. I also used some electric grease with the coil pack plugs. Then some copper anti seize on the coil pack bolts. I actually used just a tiny bit of the copper anti seize on the plug threads too. I know it's not necessary with modern NGK plugs, but figured just a small amount isn't going to hurt anything.

      54k is early to swap spark plugs, better to swap at around 90k or just wasting money

    • @Zspeed
      @Zspeed  Před 6 měsíci +3

      54,000 is a perfect time to change out your plugs! If you're running a aftermarket tune they recommend changing plugs between 30,000-50,000 miles! Even without a tune I would recommend changing your plugs at 50,000!🏁👍

      @@Zspeed yeah, I like doing everything early and often. Especially on relatively inexpensive things. People give me lots of crap for my 3500 mile oil changes. Oh well!

    • @Zspeed
      @Zspeed  Před 15 dny +2

      I changed my oil every 3,000 Miles on the Civic SI. You know about oil dilution right, I'll be coming out with a video on an oil analysis after 3,000-mile oil change soon!

    • @vermontvermont9292
      @vermontvermont9292 Před 15 dny +1

      @@Zspeed I do. It's even worse up here in the north. Where it's friggin winter most of the year. I run 93, and change my oil every 3500. A catch can will help too. I never short trip it, and always let it get up to temp before I drive, and never just shut it off after a long hard drive.

    Just thinking and maybe it's not a good idea but could you put the feeler gauge between the gap and then close it? Maybe this could risk breaking the electrode?

    • @Zspeed
      @Zspeed  Před rokem +1

      That should actually work, just be gentle with the plug when closing the gap!👍💯🏁

      Not sure if the gap size is the same between a 1.5 liter and a 2.0 liter Civic!

    • @Zspeed
      @Zspeed  Před rokem +3

      If they are gapped correctly you will not need to adjust them, but you should always check your gap before installing new plugs!

    I just installed these “Si” version ngk plugs in my 2018 Si. What’s strange is that the original plugs that were in it are the “non Si” version. They were installed at the factory. Strange

    • @Zspeed
      @Zspeed  Před rokem +2

      They short-changed you from the factory, sad😪! Maybe some rookie working that day.

      @@Zspeed I’m amazed just how easy this motor is to work on. I did the plugs, pcv valve, cabin filter, air filter with an AEM dry flow filter, oil and filter with Mobile 1. The only negative thing I found was the underside splash guard was completely missing! It was there the last time I did the oil change at the dealership, they must’ve forgot to put it back on or someone stole it? Either way I’m buying a new one.

    • @Zspeed
      @Zspeed  Před rokem +1

      Good luck, I tried to buy one at the dealership and they said they were on back order with no real time estimate on when they would be back in stock! Some one probably stole it, I would hold the dealership responsible for replacing it!

      @@Zspeed Hi brother, sorry bug you again but I really value your opinion. Ok, so I installed the ngk laser iridium Si version plugs, as said, the previous plugs in it weren’t the Si plugs,which was weird, but anyway I installed the correct plugs and all seemed fine initially but now a few days later and about 100 miles my car is now sputtering and backfiring substantially and the turbo isn’t building proper boost. It seems the correct plugs are making it run like crap. I’m going to toss the old plugs back in today to see if the car goes back to normal.

    • @Zspeed
      @Zspeed  Před rokem +1

      Good idea, let me know what happens, if that works, then buy new non Si plugs and try those!!

    Damn the engine bay is bland on the 10th gens. Anytime I pop the hood on my 9th gen with the K24Z7 the engine looks so much better, and sportier. It looks more fitting like it belongs in a Honda. This 10th gen engine, it remind me of the NA 2.0l on my moms ford focus... 💀I guess in other words there's not much "personality" in the 10th gens engine bay.
    But hey it's 1,000x easier to change the spark plugs on this car than my 9th gen. Gotta removed the wipes, and cowl just to do mine.
