Country #21 is SLOVENIA (!!!!!) 🇸🇮 After choosing to visit Austria, we spent several days researching its surrounding countries, and we quickly decided that we HAD to see Slovenia. As always, we believe one of the best ways to get to know a country is through its food, so we dove right in and ate our hearts out in Ljubljana. 😋 Have you ever tried Slovenian food? 🌾
Next week, we’ll be sharing our day trip from Ljubljana to the world famous Predjama Castle and Postojna Cave, so get ready for a video filled with adventure! 🏰 See you next Saturday! 😁

You dont show the best here!! I Dont want watch more. Is my country 🤔🇸🇮
Slovenia is the most beautiful country. Everyone could stay here for a long time.
You were so enthusiastic. I appreciate you joy for Slovenia!
As a Slovenian myself this makes me happy. I don't want tourists to go to McDonald's or something. I love it when foreigners taste our cuisine. Slavic food is just wonderful. Never underestimate a good Jota 😁
Yeah, but all these vlogers go to the same 3 spots for food :D
I’m going there too, many times. Great food @@TwistedFateism
You guys are so much fun. It is wonderful watching you grow as you travel! Thank you for sharing a few moments of your life's adventure!
Thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed.
Food that we used to eat in our schools or that our grandmothers used to make are now being sold to tourists at exorbitant prices.
True. Freakin 4 euros for that muffin-potica thing.
All of the world the dsame, not just in Slovenia.
In prodajajo jim suhe potice ki imajo komaj kaj orehov notri😅
Here you are again “korencek” …
Your videos are so peaceful and calming to watch. I get so much joy from watching ❤
The food looks amazing!
Slovenia is such a beautiful, unique, and peaceful country. 🇸🇮 You should visit these countries;
- Croatia🇭🇷
- Malta🇲🇹
- Serbia🇷🇸
- Montenegro🇲🇪
Great video ChadandClaire. I would really love to go taste Slovenians food. Greetings from Denmark 🇸🇮🇩🇰
Now in my bucketlist❤
Found your channel today via one of your Austria videos. All the best and save travel from Graz, Austria. Servus!
Welcome aboard!
Love from Slovenia ❤
Thank you!
A nice video and you did try very traditional food
Absolutely loved the vegan dish included!!! & the rest of your trip 😍🥰🥰
Yay! Thank you!
it's the very first your video that i've watched and it's so interesting, and you guys are so cuteee
Nice video!!!
You guys r delightful
Looks delicious
nice you enjoyed the food :), The Jota you had was with beets, that's why it tasted different, there is one with sourkraut (kislo zelje) though ;)
delicious food in slovenia wow...
It was fun to see you point out the manhole cover, since it's something I always look out for in my travels myself! Many cities in Europe have their coats of arms, other interesting symbols, or at least their names on theirs.
I agree! The covers are so interesting!!
Skoda, da je bilo dezevno, ko sta obiskala Slo, ceprav si slovenci mnogokrat zelimo dezja, da napoji polja in gozdove, da so zeleni.
Hvala za obisk in srecno na vseh vajinih nadaljnih popotovanjih ❤️
Nice video
I'm from Brazil and I love this channel, it's my favorite about travel!! If you visit Brazil I recommend visit the city Florianópolis-SC it's my favorite place here, the neighborhood Ribeirão da ilha have the best restaurants and the most beautiful sunset 💚💙💛
Hey Guys great food tour and sauerkraut is very popular in European dishes and so healthy for you too tarragon is one of my fav herbs adds a unique flavor glad you enjoyed it Chad! that prison was creepy especially with the sounds 😳safe travels you 2😊💕✌
Tarragon is something I’d love to incorporate into more of our food! It was fun trying it for the first time!
@@ChadandClairerepa is actually (white) turnip, not sauerkraut
Bravo bravooo bravooo ❤️❤️💞💞
Would have been nice if you had mentioned the restaurants you actually went to so we could try the food. Give a little support the the restaurants who made your video what it is.
While you say that you don’t know all that much about wine, you certainly have so much knowledge about all the different foods you discover on your travels! I love how open to trying it all, you both are. Do you speak to the shop and restaurant staff to find out what to order, or do you need to research before you choose what to eat?
We do both! So we always research but also ask the staff when we get there. The locals know best!
Watching you eat these various foods reminded me that all these dishes were made by my Hungarian grandmother. Potica next time needs poppyseed! Too bad you'll miss Budapest/not bad you'll skip Orban. 🤨 Really enjoyed the castle tour..thinking how impressive that whole cities sprang up and flourished from these remote locations. Lovely countryside! Onward and ahead...from Wisconsin 🍻😊
None of these food items are Hungarian, but there is a Slovenian minority in Hungary. Although Central Europe does have a lot of similar food.
@valentintapata2268 I compared this food to similar tastes from my grandmother 60+years ago...barley/mushroom soup, kolbasz sausage, poppyseed bakery and, of course, chicken Paprika. Like the fact that Claire and Chad cover so many different foods from the countries they visit...places I'll never see.
What month did you go? I am interested to plan a trip to Slovenia!
Everything looks delicious! It doesn't look too crowded/touristy there, but maybe that's just because of the rain?
As a slovenijan i personally think its because its just *not* a touristy country
Hello Claire, I love watching you international blog because me and my husband love to travel, but I do have a crazy question, I would like to know where did you get your walking shoes? Can I used on winter time as we are going to Budapest this December… thank you….
I love watching tourist videos of my City. It is obvilous that You really enjoyed foods and drinks here. I am glad and proud to see that. Maybe only "info" how to pronounce letter C in word POTICA (and all other slovenian words). Think about word PIZZA. So "C" here we pronounce C like you ZZ. Potizza :)
Thanks for the tip. What is mobile net work you are using in europe? Thanks
Google fi!
Slovénian local food is thé Best ❤🎉😊
7:28 Let me give you some advice. Every letter c in Slovenian is pronounced as tz, so pronounce the word "potica" as potitza and not as potikha.
Wellcome to Slovenija ❤🎉😊
Wonderful episode and thank you for including Vegan dining ✅ We're from California and many we know are vegans.
Yay, thank you! We’ll try to do that more often!
You are the cutest most sweetest couple ever
You should visist slovenian coas line.
i am Slovene and it is cheaper to buy from a farmer than a grocery shop, especialy in rural parts of my homeland where i live.
next thing for you to try are Vampi and Krvavica😅
Usually you eat jota and or ričet with klobasa.
You guys are to cute as a couple, must be a lot of fun in that beautiful country..
Ljubljana castle 🏰 is the Best ❤🎉😊
14:10 uff this food is fab. It gives you protein cereals and veggies. This is one of my fav food. Ajdovi zganci z obaro iz zelenjave in malo mesa. Cudovita, res tradicionalna slovenska hrana, se iz casa pred odkritjem amerike.
Buckwheat is very traditional in Slovenia and is gluten free. Ajdovi zganci, they give you a lot of energy and warmth.
There is an old story, that God said to Slovenian people:” Where buckwheat can grow there is your land!”
The jota you had is a fast food version of the real thing. The real jota is much more liquid and tastier. It's a shame you didn't try the real one from some restaurant. It's my favorite soup.
Hello from France
of the countries bordering austria, i thought that slovenia is the one where you would have the least chance of visiting
I dont know why, but i feel very happy looking tourists
visit our country and having wonderful time. Am i weird?
Niti slučajno, najmanj dva sva že :)
Nature honey video mind relax video god gift video thanks mother astro sundar
🇸🇮🇸🇮🇸🇮
The food seems to be quite expensive there
Why haven't you been to Mexico?
What are your guys zodiac signs?
They are both Gemini.
As a slovenian i honestly only eat balkan food probably because of my family but still almost everyone i know mainly eats only balkan food
Na obali balkanska hrana je mogoče 2 do 3 x na Meniju....balkanska ni nič posebnega in povrhu vsega še nezdrava....
Because of your origin. Majority of slovenians don't eat so much balkan food.
Zvezda 🌟 is thé Best ❤🎉😊
One of our favorite places. Very underrated. Mini Paris
I love the history of the architect who designed it for the people. This was not a town that was created by a church.
I was really interested in how you say the word Slow-vania.
We always called it loob lee ah na slo venia (like Venice).
I’m not sure we’re saying it the correct way.
The cake, it should be a roll, is pronounced POteecae. Not Potica
I live here all life and a lot of good food is not here! Dont do incomplete video! 🤔🇸🇮
ričet AND jota should have smoked pork or smoked sausage in them! and that jota looked rather pale... there'should be more beans and meat in it.... and I don't like the potatoes in it, it should be made without them
I always find it strange how foreigners (especially americans) classify food. I wouldnt call jota a soup or even a side dish. And i most ceirtanly would not say potica is a type of cake or bread. Very interesting to see how people try to classify new food in the categories that they know in their own culture
Cannot beleive howmlazy people are, taking lift to Ljubljana castle while it takes 15-20 minutes by foot.
The sausages turned me off right away. I eat healthy foods, not sausages.
Too many sweets. Where are the vegetables and salmon or fish?
It is absolutely not necessary to fill every video with admiration. Slovenian food, as everywhere in Cisleithania, is unimaginative and primitive. Cabbage soup, boiled buckwheat and refried beans - what can be more boring. Try to dissolve your monotonous atmosphere of super excitement with a spice of irony, sarcasm and mockery. I would even say: let the irony and understatement prevail. Be funny.
Well, traditional foods are made of ingredients that were traditionally available in the region... I've travelled a bit of the world and no real traditional food anywhere on the globe that l've tried has been a gourmet experience. Only when you add ingredients from somewhere far they become more tasty and interesting.
@@DamjanP-ik5bx In my comment I was advising to dissolve the atmosphere of exaggerated “super excitement” with the pinch of irony and sarcasm regardless the reason why Slovenian food is boring. But you are right, Slovenian food is boring because it looks like a food of commoners.
Talking about food in different parts of Cisleithania you can notice than not only traditional food there is boring. What can be more boring than boiled veal with boiled carrots in a broth they serve in high profile restaurants in Vienna? Or the breaded veal chop they are so proud of?
At the same time traditional Italian, French, Spanish, Russian, Thai, Chinese, Indian and many other cuisines are bright and diverse.
@@ErmakBrovar what is ltalian food without tomato sauce? And yes, Slovenian dishes are mainly those for commoners, but if any of these travellers would spend a bit more than a few € for a meal then they would have an experience you're talking about.
@@DamjanP-ik5bx but Italians had enought taste and fantasy to include tomato sauce, while Slovenians did not.
And it is, of corse, not only tomato sauce. Have you tried carbonara? Italian cuisine is the most brightest. My favorite.
@@ErmakBrovar It's clear that you don't know much about traditional food in general. Slovene food would be exotic for Asian people, for Central European people it is not, no wonder why. Nevertheless, does Edible dormouse (Glis glis) sound borring?, what about gibanica cake (several layers of apples, cottage cheese and poppy seeds), Soška postrv (marble trout), Bacon jam (bacon-based relish called zaseka), Blood sausages, Savinjski želodec (dried meat product named after the stomach), Kraški pršut (Prosciutto del Carso in Italian)? Considering the various geographical features of Slovenia and the influences from Italy, Austria, Hungary and the Balkans, we can say that Slovenian traditional food is very diverse. And then there are wines and brandys... Edit: we do use tomatoes you know. In Fact many Italians do appreciate Slovenian cuisine very much.
