I was taught to prevent "bowing" when sewing multiple jelly roll strips to sew from one end, then flip the strips around to start at the other end, then flip again, etc. In other words, alternate the end you start sewing your strips together.
A bit like being told you must set your seams, or never use your mat to measure - but Donna’s quilts always turn out 😊
Mine always curve if I don't do it the way you described. Great idea that I share too.

I get so excited when I see you have a new video! Your a good teacher with lots of helpful tips. I always enjoy the videos even if they are a repeat with different fabrics and love to see what color your finger nails are painted and if you have any "Bling" in your manicure and painted finger nails 💅.
I loved the one where her manicure WASN'T perfect! I even e-mailed her how it made her more approachable as we ALL get so excited about a new pattern or fabric that we just can't wait to get started! Who wants to go get a manicure when there's a NEW JELLY ROLL?!?!?! Haven't we all put "self care" last on the list at some point? Either way, Donna, we genuinely love you and appreciate how your joy and enthusiasm come through in each video. Your patience in explaining things afresh that you've explained a kajillion times before is so appreciated because often it's the FIRST time your viewers have heard that explanation. Loves youz.
Hi Donna. I had burst blood vessel behind the retina and unfortunately it took out the central vision in that eye. It happened because I had high blood pressure and didn't even know it. So do be careful. Because the damage to my right eye is permanent!
But on a good note I do have another one with good vision.
So happy you are back, a month without you was horrid. Take all care.

Good morning Donna, Matt and John, Oh it is so good to see you back flower, it seems like a long time since i last seen your name come up with a new video. Funny you making this video today because i was watching the old version 2 days ago because it was one i hadn't seen and i was having palpitations with withdrawal symptoms with there being no new videos. I am not sure how i managed to miss this one, although i know that i came late to your channel, i thought i had seen all the videos you had made. I hope that you managed to have a rest while you were off our screens flower because i think Matt and you spend long hours at work. Boy am i glad that there is now some help to combat the plague that the world has been engulfed in and although i know it will still be many months before we are even close to before Covid life, please take care.
The Tradewinds pattern update looks lovely with the white background, although i think this must be the first time i have seen you use a white. You were saying about that pink being pretty dominant a colour in the quilt, but isn't it strange just what a border can do. The border that you have chosen has brought out that pattern to the fore in the quilt and totally changes how it looked prior to it going on. It was the green that i seen standing out, but that burgundy border just changes it and looks beautiful all finished. Thank you for our new brilliant video John, your skills could not be done any better by the so called professionals. You are shake free and so great at those tight angle shots, that are up close and personal and great to see so close up.

So good to see a new tutorial from you today. I anxiously watch for your new ones! I watched the original video on this pattern and found no fault with it, but this one definitely is gorgeous! Love the addition of the added border to use up the left over fabric. What a great idea! Thank you for all you and your family do to promote quilting and help us quilters out here to make the best possible quilts we can with your expert advice and wisdom on how to do it best.
This pattern and fabrics used are so pretty. I would take out that half pinwheel block set on the one end and make a pillow top out of it.

I am such a batik junkie..... I am making the sewsocialites sew along quilt using my stash and as long as I have them out I am going to make this one.
