This quilt is fabulous. You are the best teacher. I started quilting in 2017 and learned more from you than anyone. I would like to see how you load the longarm!
I cannot believe how different the quilt looks from the picture on the pattern. Had I not looked at the video, I would have simply passed on purchasing the pattern since the colors in the picture did not allow my brain to really see the quilt's pattern and I personally do not prefer that color palette. Well, not that I have seen what the end product looks like with the different color scheme and THAT backing, I am sure I will purchase the pattern and make this STUNNING quilt for myself. THANK YOU DONNA!
As a nurse and amateur quilter, I love watching your videos and trying to make them just to get my mind off of work. Thank you so much for doing amazing videos!
Being a nurse during "covid" is so stressful. Keep watching those quilting videos, girl, whatever gives you the "get up and go" do your very important job.
Wow...Merveilleux...Le choix de couleurs est tout à fait à la hauteur du patron choisi...You are amazing Downa...the colors are amazing...Wow...Wow...Wow!!
You are a terrific teacher. Thank you so much for all of your videos. I just started quilting when I retired in 2013. Your calm voice is very comforting.
You have such an eye for color. This is absolutely outstanding. I am beginning with a lap size jelly roll adjustable size...I am so happy with my first because it is a small size I can learn what I should not have done. It still looks good. Now I need to decide if I can quilt it on my machine. Thanks for your wonderful tutorials.
I love watching your videos up to the point where you pick the thread, and I try to guess what color you will pick. I get it right about 1/3 of the time.
Wow! Your choice of fabrics was outstanding, the black thread use, the quilting pattern, and the lighter border and back, was simply, beautifully understated eloquence! You have such an eye for color and style! Thanks again for a great tutorial! Your son's videography skills just get better and better! Blessings to you, Donna, your family, and all who work at Jordan's Fabrics!
Donna, SUPER-DUPER! THIS POPS! The change of color and the darker quilting make such a beautiful statement! I just love it. You are so at ease with all your work, you make it relaxing and fun to watch. Thank you for sharing this with us 😊❤🎉✂️🪡🧵🍀🤗🦓Liz
Thank you for the tip of using coordinating scraps or yardage to make up the strips that make up the necessary quantity to make the size quilt desired-it certainly is cheaper than buying a second jellyroll. Your talents & wisdom abounds😉👍
Hi Donna! I absolutely love love love this Spangled Quilt Pattern made up with the exact colors you chose in this tutorial. It is so dynamic, classy, and, at the same time, it is refined , and confident. I absolutely will be making this quilt for my 32 year old son this summer. His birthday is in September and I know he will be so happy to make this his bedspread on his king size bed. Not long ago, I was sure on another quilt you had demonstrated. But now, after seeing this one, I will still make the other quilt of yours, but for Christmas instead. Thank you for being an out-of-the-box creative! Demonstrating super patterns in different color combinations than are used on the pattern cover widens the range of suitable applications and personalities that would be attracted to that particular design. 💖💖
Hello, greetings from Germany. Thank you for the good explanation. I could follow you easily. This quilt looks very complicated. But with your explanation I think I am able to sew it. Thank you for your videos. ( And please excuse my english)
i really love "jelly roll" quilts. for those of us with limited time or physical abilities its nice to be able to sew a fancy LOOKING quilt... i gave up quilting when my hand tremors made cutting accurately (or safely) too difficult, and was limited to JUST pre cuts, but i got a die cut machine and started again! however... i freely admit that you have so many gorgeous pre cut options that i could get by just with that!
At first I wasn't too sure about your choice of jelly roll for this quilt, thinking the quilt might come out a bit on the drab side. However, the end result was ABSOLUTELY STUNNING! I bought this pattern from you recently during your pattern sale and now I can't wait to pick my fabric and get started!!!! Thanks for yet another amazing quilt video, Donna! 🌼 BTW: I love that the machine quilt pattern design that you chose is so similar to one of the fabric strips. Looks great!
If you look at the fabric at 14:56 in the very corner of the quilt, it’s like the quilting pattern was lifted out of that fabric. Love the black background and the lightning look it creates. Thanks for another great tutorial.
I wasn't really sure when you said you were going to use black for the quilting, but you're never wrong. It looks amazing! Like many of the previous commenters, I love to binge watch your videos in the evenings, as down time, especially when my husband and sons are watching whatever sporting event happens to be on, which seems to be most of the time, (is it just me ?) I love your videos and learn so much. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful knowledge and experience.
I know that the fabric you cut the extra strips out of is printed on the fabric. Doesn't the fact that the print isn't straight on the grain drive you crazy? Love your videos. Your a great teacher. I have been watching you for a long time
Could not believe how one block could make such a stunning pattern. It’s brilliant. Thanks for sharing how to cut strips from yardage. I just loved your choice of colours. Thanks for sharing 🙋♀️
I'm not a quilter, but I've made 3 since I started watching your tutorials Donna, and after watching this I now want to make another one. I love how this one turned out!
I have a new grandson coming in the beginning of November, and my daughter has chosen a "Woodland" theme for his nursery. This quilt would be PERFECT for "Baby Max"! Best of luck to everyone, and God Bless!
I love your idea about turning fabrics over and using the 'wrong' side if the 'right' side doesn't work in a given quilt. I'm making a quilt that uses low-volume fabrics for the background, and I discovered that I have a lot more such fabrics in my stash if I just turn over some of my more foreground-y fabrics and use the 'wrong' side instead. Woo hoo!
Jeanette Paris. I couldn't find the give away button to enter but I would love to have that beautiful quilt. It would fit my bed well and matches my room colors too. Thank you for all your wonderful shows
Donna thx for that pattern! Love it! I must admit I always cringe when the black machine is crawling toward you like a giant praying mantis. I yell 'Donna, run!!" My son with Downs just cracks up!
Their shop is closed with no plans for reopening. They did talk about that in a video. Think the online sales have grown so much with Covid, that there is no need to open to the public. Very sad as I think MANY of us would love to visit!
This quilt looks amazing. I love it shame that I live in the U.K. can’t get the material, you are so lucky to be in the USA, there are so many different beautiful fabrics to choose. Love watching Jane x🇬🇧😊❤️
Couldn't agree more! I'm only a beginner but I feel like we get the leftovers here. I live in Lincolnshire too which always seems to be a bit cut off from everywhere else. Maybe we should get our heads together and set something up to satisfy what must be a growing hobby?
I've bought fabric from Jordans earlier this year, postage wasn't too bad. It's was the waiting for it to arrive. You can put what you want to buy in the basket, click through to payment to find out what the postage will be, if its too much just empty basket.
This is one of my favorites; I love the color way you used. I just entered the giveaway for this one and I really really hope I win. Thank you for all your great tutorials.
You are such an inspiration to those of us who are "newbies" to quilting in the way you choose fabric to make such a different look. I have coffee "with you" every morning, as I watch your videos creating amazing quilts!
I didn't think I would like this, but it's very sharp looking. Great choices all the way arounds. BTW, I love your boxes of thread. I'm sure they need to do some traveling, and I'd give them a happy home. 🤣
Donna I usually like your colour choices better than the pattern original . Same with this one. I have been a satisfied customer of yours several times. Your service is great and the Canadian version of your website is very helpful.
I was just thinking to myself. When is Donna going to post another video on how to make a new quilt pattern. I woke up this morning and I had a notification on my iPad!!! I so love your videos! I have learned so much about cutting fabric, picking fabric, how to make a pillow, binding a quilt, laying it out. You rock Donna!!! Thank You for starting this channel and your continual support to the quilting community. Thanks also for your family, Matt and your son the camera man. Blessings to you and your family! PS. I really like your fall nail color. 💕😀
Donna, I must say, i just love the back of this quilt. It Is another quilt by ITSELF INDEED!!!! I am not very keen on dark colors , but this is nice. It Would be better in Dark Navy Blue, I think.... anyway, another Wonderful work once again!!!! xxx
I am so jealous of your work space. I am a RVer. I iron on a electric heater thing. Lay things as flat as possible on my bed. I've been thinking out other ways of making a flat space... Love your videos. I've learned so much! Thanks
Wow, the quilting on the boarder is breath taking. I have been making quilts for 30years and still haven't figured out how to free motion quilt and can't afford to take my quilts in so I love getting to the ends of your videos to see all the amazing quilting that handy big ole machine makes. 😁
Hi From Australia. Loved this quilt in these colours..wasn't sure about quliting in the black thread but of course it looked fabulous! PS have just finished the 'roundabout ' quilt.. really pleased with it....thank you so much for your wonderful tutorials.

Normally I like the colorful colors but this is very nice and elegant looking. Would make a good man quilt.

Excellent chose with the black thread for the quilting.

That is very nice. You make beautiful quilts. Thank you
Great tip about using the wrong/back of a fabric!
That's a beautiful quilt. The black stitching came out perfect....makes me want a longarm machine.
You are the best ever teacher! I recommend people to your channel all the time for new quilters.
Thank you for the tip of using coordinating scraps or yardage to make up the strips that make up the necessary quantity to make the size quilt desired-it certainly is cheaper than buying a second jellyroll.
Your talents & wisdom abounds😉👍
I also forgot to mention that I liked your colour choice better that the picture on the pattern…as always 😉
Black thread was exactly the right choice for this quilt!
Donna , I don't like dark colors but , I LOVE THIS QUILT WITH THE BLACK THREAD SHOWING !!😍😀♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
I absolutely love this. Fabulous colours!
This one is really a stunning eye-popper! I would call it African Safari. The black thread is perfect.
Me ha encantado Donna, como todos tus vídeos, un saludo😘😘😘
Donna, your hair is beautiful!!!
I love your version so much better. I'm glad you choose to use the black thread when quilting. It readlly made the quilt!
Am learning...thanks for Jordan fabric for making it possible.

This looks like it would be a fun pattern for Halloween! Use the black, but also some orange & yellow
Oh that's very interesting, what an excellent idea.
Or use a purple background with orange, black, & green strips!
If you look at the fabric at 14:56 in the very corner of the quilt, it’s like the quilting pattern was lifted out of that fabric. Love the black background and the lightning look it creates. Thanks for another great tutorial.

That turned out really neat. I really like how the black thread shows up on the cream. Very striking!

We're planning an American road trip to see the next Solar Eclipse and I'm putting Jordan Fabrics on the itinerary 🥰🥰🥰
Is it because there are fewer quilt shops, too expensive for manufacturers to ship or not a lot of appeal to local quilters?
Couldn't agree more! I'm only a beginner but I feel like we get the leftovers here. I live in Lincolnshire too which always seems to be a bit cut off from everywhere else. Maybe we should get our heads together and set something up to satisfy what must be a growing hobby?

LOVE the thread choice!!!
Loved the colors! And the black thread was the right choice. :). Shows well in the border which gives some life to the beige border.

I'm not great with colour so I'm learning from your fab videos. This one is stunning! Greetings from across the pond 🏴 ❤
Really brave using a plain border and back, but the quilting really makes it gorgeous and compliments the whole quilt.
Great choice for quilting pattern. It mimics the prints in the fabric. It's a beauty...
What fun, very beautiful and I agree that the black thread was a good choice!
Donna, that is so pretty!
I envy you being able to get up from the floor. Blessings on you and your family.
