- This Homily was given by Father Tony Stephens C.P.M of the Fathers of Mercy at the Chapel of Divine Mercy in Auburn, KY. on May 7, 2023 at the 10:00AM Mass. Jesus shows us the way to the Father, He teaches us the truth through revelations made in Scripture and in nature, and He gives us a share in His Divine Life in the Sacraments.

The Congregation of the Fathers of Mercy, which was founded in 1808, originally under the title of “The Missionaries of France (SPM)”. The community was founded for the purpose of re-evangelizing the people of France after the Catholic Faith had been subjected to years of attacks and persecution during the French Revolution. It is now exclusively an American community. The Generalate of the Congregation is located in Auburn, Kentucky. The primary apostolate of the Fathers of Mercy is to conduct parish missions and retreats throughout the United States and other countries when called upon. The congregation also staffs rural parishes in the Archdiocese of Louisville, Kentucky.
I remember working with a woman that was the hardest person to get along with. I wanted to show her the love of Jesus but she was a tough one....not just to me but to everyone in the office. Another sister in the Lord in the office gave me the best counsel ever...she said..."You're trying to love her with your own strength. Why dont you ask the Lord to love her through you?" That totally freed me up. My attempts to love her were probably coming across as phony or insincere. But when Jesus loved her through me, it was a whole new ball game. He who created her knew what was needed to be done or said to reach deep down inside of her & He knew when to move me to talk to her. Only Jesus can reach deep down into the heart to change even the blackest darkest soul. That is the greatest miracle of all.
I want fellow Christians of other denominations to understand we Roman Catholics love Jesus as much as you do and believe in God's words as much as you do. Any problem that arises anywhere starts with a human committing a sin without feeling guilty. It can be anywhere. I feel, Judging Catholics are wrong is not right before God. There are preists like the one in the video shares the God's word in the way this world needs.
I agree. I was raised protestant, and told horrible things about RC. I eventually decided to look into it myself, none of the stuff I was told is true - it's just the same things that were said from the start (the rumors of Christians drinking blood and so on from 1 ad.) The same persecutions.
I think the biggest hurdle is being told RC believe it's works, not faith, which saves. I'm not sure of the official stance on that, but I see so many protestants posting things that imply a works based salvation, and RC consistently accrediting faith. I personally think it's not work when it's love. If we love God more than ourselves & our neighbors as much as ourselves, and surrender ourselves to Jesus - who would even care?
I think you're spot on, it's wrong to judge - or, if you must, then contemplate the best motive you could prescribe and apply it instead - because we all do that for ourselves, so why not our neighbors. I am guilty of spreading all the same junk I've heard in the past, I am truly sorry.
protestant or Roman Catholic ... if you have a repentant heart, and follow Christ as your King ... we are brothers and sisters in Christ.

You preach about sin yet when it comes to being gay lesbian or trans it's mental health ?? Can it not be exactly what is in scripture and it's a sin that you choose no one gets up & says hey guess what I want to do today I want to have mental health issues you blabber and cherry pick the parts of the bible you want to believe !!!
exactly. God never once speaks about sexual immorality as if it's "mental health", it's always an abomination and sinful behavior he commands people to repent from. In fact, "mental health" is a modern new age way of people making up a reason to excuse their behavior. seems people are more afraid of the gay mafia coming after them for calling their sin for what it is, so they water it down a bit.
