I read that Dan was totally different from the characters he played. He was married for 35 years to the same woman... his time was spent quietly gardening, boating, community service and Boy Scout Master. His headstone reads: "DAN DURYEA 1907-1968 OUR POP A MAN EVERYBODY LOVED. 😊
Yes indeed. He did not permit his children to view most of his movies n other movies of violence, gangsters n robberies etc. He was a Christian and a very humble man. I would say he acted because the $ was good n he had the means to provide his children with a good education. Love GODJESUSHOLYSPIRIT with all our heart soul mind n strength always n forever and ever y que DiosCristoEspirtuSanto nos bendiga siempre y por vida 🙏 Amén. Pasa bien OneTrueChristian
He was in "Appaloosa", but my friends saw him with a horse trailer here in TX and said he had the most beautiful Apps ever. Can you believe I was too tired to go to the the Restaurant in town when my friends called, knowing I love both old movies and Horses? He was there for 2 hours, talking and signing autographs, but nooooooo- I was the only Ultrasound Tech within 150 miles so I was always on call. It's been over 40 years, but it still sucketh.
I googled him a long time ago and found out those same neat things! A good actor, and a good man, husband, and father. Makes me wish I had known him and his family. I try to watch every old movie. I can find that has him in it and Richard Widmark.
Dan Duryea has always reminded me of Richard Widmark and I found how alike their marriages were. Richard Widmark was married to the same woman for 55 years until she died and 2 years later he married again and was married to her until he died. So there are wonderfully faithful marriages among some of the Hollywood actors and actresses. I love to read about them. Another actor who I admire was Jack Elam. He married one woman and stayed married to her until she died. Then he married another woman and they were still married to her when he died. 😊😊😊❤❤❤
What a treat. Watching Dan on Memorial Day
Wish Dan Duryea could see the comments to see how much his work is respected. The so called "character actor" can carry any picture
Always enjoyed his movies even as a kid! Glad he was a good guy!❤
What a man Duryea was! Under-rated but loved, a family man with values and morals... not many really great actors can say that. I like to watch his face as he constantly shows the exact reaction he should have in response to the action or dialogue- never exaggerated or delayed. TY Broken Trout!
Why would an actor's personal life be relevant?
@@david-joeklotz9558 Because a lot of us don't care to watch or support sleazeballs. Like my Father not 'inviting ' rotten people like Desi Arnaz into our home, I do the same.
He was never under-rated,.
Wow !Lou Nova! Can never get enough Dan Duryea.
Been reading a lot of the comments, I guess I'm not the only Dan Duryea fan! LOL! I think he's really at his best when he plays the bad guy, his acting is simply great!
He chewed the scenery in "Scarlet Street" @My My
@@BrokenTrout Yes, he did! So sad he died young, early 60's I believe.
I've always liked Dan Duryea. The Scarlet Street has long been one of my favorite movies.
Yeah..he was a good guy in Korea...officer in war time..
Kinda bland.
He was a bad guy in Night Passage, with James Stewart and
AudieMurphy ---(I believe).
@Alieff Farwell No, I haven't but will check it out one of these days. I think Bette Davis is a super actress, she's the only actress, to me, who can overact and still make it look real, she's fantastic. Of course the overacting in those days was simply the way director's wanted it. You can easily see how off the charts of an actress she was by watching her later movies.
Dan Duryea was a very fine actor who successfully played many menacing and vicious film roles. His snarling looks and threatening voice made him one of the most sought after actors to play serious and nasty villains.
great film! Always loved Dan Duryea films. Never dull and always plays a character you can love or hate! Glad his love interest turns out to be what she was. He deserved batter!
Thanks in advance for what looks like a terrific movie. This was when movies were worth watching.
I think you will like it @

Dan's incredible talent made him the best rat in the history of movies. He is always a joy to watch.
As a slimy, sneering weasel, he has no equal.
@@ThePlataf exactly 💯.
Sorry all I see is his Star Trek character "p
Tied with Widmark
This is great! A taut little semi-noir that I've never seen or even heard of...and what a cast. Duryea, Reginald Denny, Nigel Bruce, Keye Luke...love it!
Dan durea was one of the most under rated actors who ever lived. He was most accomplished playing the heavy simply because the villain is always the most interesting character. With no moral compass and no boundaries he gets to do whatever he wants. And no one did it better than dan. Thank you so much for the beautiful memories you provided.
I saw an interview with Dan Duryea and he said, "Some people act for the sake of art and starve. Not me, I can't afford it."
I only clicked on this one because Dan Durea is in it!!!
He was never underrated. He worked all his life and was a popular star and favourite villain.Nobody under 60 would know who he was.Who remembers Ronald Colman and Irene Dunne?

Dan Duryea is such a good actor. I thought I had seen them all, but 'Broken Trout' keeps delivering the goods. A great film to watch on a raining morning in Finland.
Thanks for the nice comment Vello. @

And a cold night in Cairo.
And a sunny day in New Zealand.
Retro critics of this film are far more appreciative of this fine film than a few in 1954. Thank you.
The critics in ‘54 couldn’t know that Hollywood 70 years later would be a crap factory.
a film with Dan Duryea is of course a very good film..
Yes, a great actor.
I didn't think that I could stay up and watch the whole film tonight. I did. Great movie!
From a Dan Duryea , he can raise a movie 3 stars in whatever he is in. Thank you for sharing.
Over (poorly) acted by Dunyea
@@jcjensenllc I think he was in the midst of an alcoholic period in his life
I think Reginald Denny raised this movie 3 stars
@@jcjensenllc Are you kidding? He held that whole garbage mumbo-jumbo together with his performance. - And that Marian Carr! Please, please say she retired after this. Ghastly!
@@jugheadsrule The plot didn't work. I think he and Denny just kind of fell into that scene together and they pulled it through. - But he did look kinda scruffy. - And what about the Atom Bomb and the guy at the Colonial Hotel? Jeesh!
Love, love, love Dan Duryea!!! I have never seen this movie. I'm looking forward to watching. Dan Duryea never disappoints! Thsnk you so very much for posting. Blessings🙏
Great film with many unexpected twists & turns. Enjoyed Dan Duryea very much, as always. Hard to believe old Singapore was ever really like that. Thanks for this one...
Thanks for sharing another gem. I've never been disappointed with any of Dan Duryea's films.
Drinks all around at the Golden Poppy... Great flick. Dan certainly holds own , as he always does..
Dan Duryea how could anyone not love this actor. I luv the way he delivers his lines and when all other actors where saying "sweetheart" in varing ways, he used kitten. I kinda like it . lol
I fell in love with Dan Duryea the first movie I ever saw him in which was Scarlett Street.... He definitely has sex appeal unlike all the other film Noir Stars!
He and Elizabeth Scott. what a pairing.
Well i am one that dose not like him
@@gibby7233 good morning Gibby(cute name), please tell me why you do not like Good Old Dan. You should watch the movie Black Angel.... I believe he was at his very best in that movie and it's a great movie!
He's a decent actor but no looker.
A genuine classic. Good to see Dan Duryea on top form with Nigel Bruce going full 'Watson' just with whiter hair. I think there's a small part for Rod Taylor in this playing the Corporal with the radio also. Thanks BT.
Your welcome Tom @Tom Alexander
Dan Duryea was Film Noir ! So versatile in his many roles always gave his best! Whether it be playing a frustrated "Burglar" or pairing with Audie Murphy as "Whitey Kincaid" stealing scenes just with a grating laugh or a look ! Any movie or TV show with D D in it is worth a look .RIP Mr.Dan Duryea
✌
Some of the best noir cinematography I've ever scene.
It seems like Dan Duryea is bored or hasn't his heart in this one.
Still enjoyed it, Thanks!
Thank you for watching it @tpe54
tpe. You made me laugh. He’s so effective with his ‘don’t give a damn bout nothin’ attitude. If it was an Oscar category he’d would be shoo in nominee

Really nice to see Dan play a good guy. From what I hear he was a very nice person in real life. Great actor.
Yes, he appears to have been nice and a proud American.
... and a decorated veteran.
BT, you've done a big favour with this one - thought I'd seen all the great Noir. Very much appreciate it.
Excellent movie. Dan Duryea was a great actor!!
He didn't let his kids see his movies as they might get ideas...........he was GREAT
Few actors can guarantee box -office success, Dan Duryea certainly was one.
Dan Duryea in top form. Very engaging from start to finish. Kind of a precursor to some of the story lines found in the Bond novels.
I hope Dan Duryea won some Oscars he was such a good Actor. He was married to his wife a long time, you don’t see that today.
He was outstanding in "Scarlet Street" with Edward G. Robinson @Sandra Kennedy
@Broken Trout he was great in that. Hated to see him get the chair
I love Dan Duryea, thanks Trout.
Crisp dialogue, tight plot, and innovative cinematography. Terrific film! ☆☆☆☆
Dan Duryea my favorite bad guy. Ok hes good this time. He deserves to be the good guy once in awhile.
A classic Robert Aldrich film of dark shadows. Excellent!
I thought I had seen everything worth watching but you never cease to amaze! Thanks BT!
Great movie , first time watching this movie , good story . I enjoyed watching this movie . Thank you Broken Trout .
Film Noir is alive and well thanks to Broken Trout,
where else can one find a movie with /Dan Duryea as a good guy. Now Broken Trout has answered that burning question .
All round fantastic noir, Aldrich loved making this and you can see why...
Great addition to the channel ,thank you once again Broken Trout.
The plot of this movie is so full of holes and lacking basic logic, that I'm surprised this film mas even made....BUT, it is still fun to watch and it is certainly appreciated. Thanks.
There is a serious sub-text to this film from the beginning which ought to matter to many who care not about the history or the politics but do care about how our world works.
BT does it again giving us a fantastic film! It’s Christmas Eve and everyone is tucked away for the big day. I’m just sitting back with an adult beverage watching this great Christmas gift! Thanks again BT! Merry Christmas to you and yours-everyone else too!
An adult beverage? A chocolate Frappe?
This was very good. Took me awhile to get into the story but it was worth the time. Love black and whites. Never saw this one before !!! ♥️♥️♥️
This a great film noir---With a great score too.
Duryea stellar role;very good!!👍👀🌹🍃🌹🍃
Like Warren Oates, Dan Duryea can single handily carry a movie.
That's right
Warren Oates! I'm glad he's remembered.
Dandy Durrell is an excellent excellent actor I really enjoy his movies and what a handsome hunk too thank you
Imagine him playing a character in a Tarantino movie .. written in a 40s style... with support at a talent level of reservoir dogs or pulp fiction.. or just a group of top notch contemporaries bogart ..Lorre.. Powell..I think he’d shine and hold the screen.. as he does here as the leading man.. the casting is impressive..well written
A good film well acted and plotted a perfect ending.Nigel Bruce's final film thanks for posting.
Really enjoyed this! As usual, BT comes thru. Dan Duryea is always stellar, Thanks!
Mmmmm
What a great movie that was. Thank you so much for posting it. A pure pleasure.
This appears to have been one of Nigel Bruce's last pictures: he died in 1953.
Dan Duryea, the Actor I Loved to Hate!! No one did it better!. He deserved an Academy Award for ALL his works. On the Screen he was always bad. But in reality, He was a Wonderful person!. I miss his Acting.
Exotic, Sophisticated, Hard Boiled and only 15 min. in...☆☆☆☆
Thanks Broken Trout!
Whoa! That was stellar. Thanks, Broken Trout!
Dan was not only a brilliant actor, but also someone who dominated every scene he featured in the camera was rolling. I would have loved to see him in the theatre, as live audiences would have appreciated his skill as an actor.
Dan was always a very good extraordinary actor. Smile
Thank you for uploading this movie.
It's my pleasure @MomscookingTofu
I haven't seen this in a long time. great viewing.. Thanks BT
Dan Duryea , one of the great versatile character actors ! No one played a scheming con seducing player better than Dan !
You got that right ☺️, love this guy

Dan Duryea AND direction by robert aldrich = 100%
I very much agree @agent x channel
Its definitely a very good start.both of them are among my favorites in there profession.
@@randquadrozzi1280 their not there nor they're. Learn the difference.
I agree too! He is a very good actor..
There seemed to be a contradiction in the script. After Keye Luke takes the photo of March, Pederas want to kill March because March can lead authorities back to Pederas, the next minute Pederas is outing himself to the Governor.
A most interesting film noir set in Asia! Enjoyed this. Thanks.
Thanks BT,you sure know how to find great noirs and we are sure glad that you share them with us!! Every actor was chosen perfectly for their respective roles and convincing in their portrayal of them.(was nice to see Reg Denny as an older gent, with some spunk left in him!)Take care BT,and keep up the good work!👏👏
I am bbc a bit fan of film noir and crime noir. Such good filmmaking. You may not have all the visual effects of now, but the filmmaking is awesome
Dan Durea good as always
Can't go wrong with Dan da man. Well done flick with excellent photography. Tku for post.
Very interesting seeing Patric Knowles in a villain role.

Thank you for the great movie.
❤
Dan Duryea acted excellent in Impact 1949!
Love Dan Duryea! I might be mistaken but I think his first big role was in a movie called Scarlet Street which is one of my favorite movies with Edward G Robinson! Dan was very young in that movie but he was the typical bad guy that you just loved!
I don't think he was in "Impact".
Thx for the great quality of your uploads appreciate you man 🖖🏼🤙🏼✌🏼🙌🏻
Your welcome @Mad Dog
Excellent print, my man! thq
Thank you
I wonder, was this Dan's first movie? Thanks so much I thought it was predictable except that they didn't say what happened to the injured cop.
I'm surprised that Duryea shouts most of his lines...he was too good an actor.
Thankfully he tones it down before the ending
Nice film thanks for sharing
Anybody else have trouble following the plot on this one? I was surprised since it's rated so highly on the IDMB database ratings thing
Dans son was a neighbor
Great story ❤
In the end, it was a satisfying movie.
Film noir and peliculas negras are my favorite Dogma.
Somebody compared this to a China Smith episode...the movie was made about the same time as the second China Smith TV series by many of the same personnel, using the TV sets. Supposedly the whole thing was shot in ten days and cost only $90,000. It's basically an extended CS story with the hero re-named. I presume the producers saw a way to make few extra bucks in their spare time.
Bitter end great work
Superb performances Oh Lord!
This film introduces carr, I believe she was the female lead in the 1947 film RKOs San Quentin with Lawrence Tierney .
Pretty deep!
I complement u where do I find so many great films I haven't heard of
Great Movie.
Profuced by credit but no Directed by credit ...strange.
