DK's singing VA Sterling Jarvis was so ridiculously good. I only found out about this show like 5 years ago, and was immediately blown away by both how unexpectedly good the songs were and how amazingly Sterling sang them.
I agree. He's a legend.

Tried searching for a Smash mod that replaces Donkey Kong’s ape sounds with this voice actor and while I didn’t find that, I did find Vinny’s voice over Terry Bogard.
Now please tell me there’s a mod that gives Terry the Item Block icon on his hat. Because that would be perfect.

I'm not autistic but it hit me just as hard and it's been hitting me hard ever since I started adulthood.

Despite it being outdated in the graphics department, the show is such a gem sometimes
I feel like its part of the charm as it was mean't to emulate the graphics of the early snes trilogy it was tied to in the first place. But by season 2 it got... a bit rough since they got rid of some of the better shadings and such of the first season.

And admittedly sometimes seeing DK move so…flexibly is a little odd. Gorillas are fast but he’s so floaty, it’s like he weighs nothing at all.
If you can get used to the weirdness it kind of becomes charming and amusing though.

Watching this as a kid always tripped me out: First part of first episode was literally the story of Samson from The Bible, 2 songs each 30 minute episode that were usually pretty damn catchy, cursed facial animations (ESPECIALLY any monkey grinning), the canonical introduction of an ‘important’ item in DK64, casual use of the name ‘Dix,’ Eddy the Mean Old Yeti... So much craziness.
I cant WAIT for vinny to see Leo Luster when he checks out season 2 of this...
Artists always somehow manage to bring out the best songs when they're depressed. Donkey Kong is no exception...

Context in the show: One of K Rool's minions can do a very good DK impression and uses it to make DK look bad. Somehow DK can't hear the impressionist speaking in his voice.

And also no one notices that when they hear the fake DK speaking, DK’s mouth isn’t moving.
Like the Kremling hits on Dixie in DK’s voice and she’s of course upset because she thinks he’s trying to open up to her so he can snatch her from Diddy, but she doesn’t notice that his mouth isn’t moving.

0:52 - Yes, some kid's shows go this hard. There's a certain other cartoon that has alot of songs in it where many of them go this hard. Not sure if I should say the name of the show here, because I honestly don't know how ok people are with the series. But most people probably already know what I'm talking about. Here's a hint. It lasted 9 seasons and was a huge hit.

well there was also phineas and ferb in the 2000s but ya
Everyone was giving all the other characters shit for singing in their character voices but unlike DK they didn't get the benefit being able to use their actual voice when singing.
Also this song feels extremely heavy for something in an episodic format. This feels like a song that should appear 2/3 to 3/4 of the way through a full length movie through the deepest part of a character's struggle.
This show was probably responsible for my taste in music today.

@Lyric It's weird, because the graphics in Season 2 onward are "technically" better, but I just don't like them as much? I don't know, for all its jank there's still a charm to the late 90s CG look of Season 1, but after everyone just becomes weirdly smooth and don't look quite right
