    I feel like the Pitch Meeting format is probably more accurate for James Cameron movies than almost anything else. Everyone know he's a terrible writer, but his movies look cool and make money, so the studios just go along with the idiotic stories and Sandy Frank dub-level dialogue. He's like the poor man's Michael Bay, but somehow richer and with Oscars.

    • @theperson8539
      @theperson8539 Před rokem +1

      That’s one take, the other is that he’s a pretty great writer who ‘generalises’ his work to appeal to the widest possible audience, as he needs to make money to be able to make the films he needs to make. His movies have tonnes of passion behind them, and he’s clearly worked hard on fleshing out the setting and spiritual involvement of the characters. Michael Bay is horny, explosion-loving maniac.

    I don't know why everyone tries to act as if no one cared for or liked Avatar and as if it was just a forgettable fad. Avatar was THE thing for months and years after. My favorite cinema had a weekly showing of Avatar for almost 10 years! Which other movies can claim such a thing? And if no one cared or remembered, how is Avatar 2 raking in 2 billion dollars in a month, in our economy and post covid theater condition? Well. it's obvious, isn't it? Bashing Avatar is the cool thing to do for all these edgelords, but way beyond the reality of the situation. I love Pitch Meetings, but this insinuation missed the mark by a planet!

      I agree entirely, but that’s not even the worst part. These people go out of their way to talk about how they didn’t enjoy something, they don’t say they hated it, but they try to make their indifference seem important. This is likely cuz most of the gen pop consists of vainglorious bastards who believe their stool should be in museums. Weirdly, not the worst part, the worst part is where they try to discredit people who enjoyed the film. I don’t know if they are jealous of people who simply had a good time, or if they genuinely get off on bashing decent people.

      At least it was only a whale hunter this time, even though it was again incredible stupid how they worked.
      The idea, that an army, which got a space ship in orbit plus all the high tech around it, would be unable to beat some guys with spears and bow is just ridiculous.
      Funny enough: they literally SHOW in Avatar 2 at star, what they can easily do and that with just some area cleansing tool. They also just build that massiv city and got super high tech drones who do that for them.
      Guess what you could do with such ultra high tech drones if you want to? Easily hunt down smurfs...
      Then the stupid Idea to not only bring back the most stupid marines you can find with no idea of how to actually work as a team and soldier, but give them such smurf bodies and instead of using ifiltration or whatever, it's just about that they are a bit stronger in that body. @@miriamweller812 Do you know what a Smurf looks like? At most, they are the same shade of blue, but that’s where the similarities end. They have yet to show drones on Pandora btw, I assume that’s because they haven’t figured out a way to make them work, since signals stop working in certain environments meaning that things need to be operated manually. That was established in the first Avatar film when the navigation systems stopped working.
      Quaritch was running the military ops for however long they were there, and he was fairly successful, until Jake and the like attacked.
      In the first film, Jake used bombs and guns to bring down their airships, bows and arrows partially helped kill a few helicopter drivers at most, same as in the second.
      In the second film, the humans where on a ‘whaling’ vessel, not a military one. They even said that they don’t hunt close to the Na’vi, because they likely aren’t the best equipped to enter combat, which is why they where slaughtered by the Na’vi at the end.
      So no, NO DRONES WORK ON PANDORA you f*cking moron.
