Thx, it really is sad that even by spending a lot off money, you do not get quality. Was going to buy this helmet, no longer. I got the Arai tour 4, first time in my life I spent that much money. It's good quality for sure, but no fireworks. Search continues.

Good review. It is not only after some mileage with this helmet. I have the same issues on my brand new C5. It doesn´t matter if the helmet is new or not. Truth is, you did not get what you paying for. Very sad.

Thanks for this review. You saved me almost 1300… helmet, custom long oval padding, cheek pads, and the sc2.

I bought the C5 2 years ago. I also bought C5 and extra padding. Now it's a paperweight and the SC2 will probably end up on eBay.
I bought the helmet from Champion Helmets and they don't cover postage back for them to "assess" the helmet as per Schuberth's warranty instructions. So why would I spend more shipping it back and take a risk that Champion Helmets will turn around and tell me that the C5 is working "normal".
I'm currently looking at the RPHA 91 or LS2 Advant X for replacement modulars and I just bought Airoh Matrix as a full face.
I'm pretty jaded with Schuberth and Champion Helmets tbh.

Morning bud. I spoke with our guy at Schuberth in the US because i was curious about the visor problem. It didn't make sense for a 1200 CAD helmet to have such a problem.
    Here's what we got back:
this issue is occasionally caused as the result of repeated opening on one side instead of thumb on one side and index on the other. A tiny amount of silicone grease on the chin-bar at both points of contact with those tiny latches souls cure that if the visor isn’t already warped..
Hope that helps and don't shoot... I'm just the messenger! Ride Safe, cheers.

Thank you for sharing an honest / owner’s review.
I was considering getting the E2, I really wanted to like it, but, I think I’ll upgrade my Neotec 2 and get the 3.
    Safe riding 👊✊

Thanks for your review. I've had the C5 for 2 years and can definitely confirm that it ISN'T an "occasional" occurrence. The detents are weak and will drop at a slight bump. I ride 2-4 times a month so it's not like I use it for a daily.
Maybe I got unlucky but the visor doesn't even sit on the chin part properly and causes whistling noise (LOUD) to get in and through to the SC2 mic. My group rides basically means I have no comms as have to disconnect to allow the rest to ride without the excessive noise. It's quite embarrassing as this is meant to be a premium helmet and others in the group are rocking 4-5 year old Shark helmets at 1/4-1/2 the price.
In addition, the vent on the chin just below visor fell off when riding in flip up configuration.
    Overall pretty sub-par quality imo.
I was looking at this or the S3 and keep it as a back up helmet only because I already have the SC2. Lesson learnt...pitfalls of getting integrated comms units. Having said that, I'll probably try and on sell the SC2 and get the HJC RPHA 91 or LS2 Advant X. I can't do the Shoei Neotec 3 due to head shape.

Yeah I hear ya, I've used shoei lids for year and other brands. But kept hearing praise about these for modular helmets. But now I wish I just stuck with the neotec 2. Looking at getting a neotec 3 once they come here to the US.

@@LookoutMoto I’ve been trying the Neotec 3, RPHA 90, RPHA 91, LS2 Advant/Advant X, Nolans locally. Unlucky for me, there’s only the LS2 that fit.
I’d love to try the Shark and Scorpion modulars too but nobody stocks them where I live.
So it looks like I’ll get the LS2 Advant X.

I had the C3 Pro which I liked and got the C4 Pro carbon on insurance when I crashed. Honestly, I think the C3 was better than the 4, or at least not worse. I was thinking about a new helmet for more airflow in the hot areas I often ride. The Shoei neotec 2 has a smaller visor than I like so I was considering the E2 because it has the larger Schuberth style visor, but after this very helpful review I will steer clear. Thanks!

Good review. I can confirm the E2 is very badly designed. My visor had the opening and closing issues after a couple of days. The flip was good without the commas mic, but with the mic fitted the face wouldn’t close properly as the mic snagged on the chin curtain! I managed it once, but the mic popped off and got run over by a truck. As for riding in the rain with this lid? Do not. It is positively lethal. The visor lets in a central waterfall. The water pools on the chin guard. When you open the vent to clear the mist (due to the pinlok failure) the super-efficient vent shoots the water directly in your eyes. Putting this lid on and then riding in wet weather is absolutely the most dangerous thing I have ever done in my 35 years of biking. Fortunately, I was able to return in to the shop as I was wishing 30 days. I traded it for a Neotec 3, which was even more expensive! I’m yet to ride it in the wet, but I hope it is significantly better than the E2.

Yeah sounds like the same conclusion, rain= deathtrap with zero viz. Glad you were able to return it. Im riding on a long trip and didn't want to deal with the hassle of shipping it overseas and the rest of the ordeal. if the neotec 3 was out when I was leaving for my trip that would've been my choice in a heartbeat.

Thanks for the honest review. I safe a lot of money. I will buy Shoei neotec 3 that is much better than Neotec 2

Vince the ShamWow guy use to tell us good stuff was made in Germany. Schuberth though is embarrassing with their poor build quality.
