Exactly what I was searching for!
My daughter planted 2 seeds from an apple she was eating straight into a pot and we now have two little sprouts.
I had no clue what to do next, so I’m very glad I found your video!
    Explained very well, thank you!

I seeded and potted 4 , sometime in nov dec

one survived through to the final outdoor
    in-ground planting, it is about 9 or 10 inches./
25cm tall now, and really looking good.

I would like to share some experimental germination methods with you guys.
I was trying to germinate some appleseeds and it seemd that only a few would germinate.
I then took some more seeds and started trying some strategies out.
And one seemd to work really well.
I started peeling of the skin on the seed, then let it soak for about 24 hours, then i would put it in a wet paper towl with some cinnamon and in a 1-2 week period i would then switch between putting them in the fridge and freezer.
Now a larger amount would sprout and when i saw the root beginning to emerge i would then place it in a dark location out of the fridge.
Now ive got a larger success rate than before and it has worked on peach, apricots and other fruits.

    Question 2;
Now that I have one tree planted,
in az (will be 120f 49c later this summer)
I flood it about 3 times a day as it is already
hot, do I need to add fertilizer or some kind of
'miracle grow' vitamin periodically? After about
three weeks now in the ground it appears to be
    thriving.

    QUESTION;
What is the max time frame/window
whereby I can pot a apple tree from seedling,
and NOT plant it in the ground yet,
but not interfere with its growth cycle
so that it won't have it's size stunted
due to being in a pot for too long?
Is it a matter of using big enough pots, to
    accommodate the growth till planting?
Is there a chart or rule of thumb to be sure we
are giving it a large enough pot till actual in-ground
    planting?

So after the apple germinate, do we leave it in the shade where it can have indirect sunlight or what do we do to ensure the seedling are comfortable? Pls I need your advice. Thank you

    • @GrowWithKit

Most of the ones you buy are refrigerated for long periods and they seem to germinate well anyway. They need as much light as possible really but not to hot, morning or evening sun but avoid full on sun if it’s hot. Hope that helps 🌱😊

At 5 months old mine are still the same height as yours are at 1 week, they have new leaves growing and seem healthy they just aren't going up and I'm not sure how to make them grow upwards. not sure if it is because I grew them through autumn and winter and that effected their growth.

@@GrowWithKit i addition to what he said, once your apple is 2years old, start applying calcium to it to stimulate fruition. You can get calcium from:
      1. Ash (simply born woods to ashes. Preferably do not add kerosene.
      2. Dental powder. Yes you heard me. Most dental powders sold in nigeria ( i guess you from Nigeria by your name, though cannot guarrantee you are based in Nigeria.) are just calcium.
      3. If you are in Nigeria, go to those that sell chemicals for paint making and buy calcium. It is white and in powder. Most should be edible so nothing to fear.

It will depend on growing conditions but I’d say around 3 years from seed. You will need at least 2 trees as they are not self pollinating.

That’s fantastic well done, they’ll be fine outside they are fully hardy, if they are quite small put them somewhere a bit sheltered, porch is ideal, you’ll do more harm than good bringing them in the house, they need to go dormant over the winter.

I planted pear and apple seeds roughly 15 years ago. Not one of my 70 trees is providing edible fruit. The apples are crabapples, and the pears are bradford pears. This may be fun, and may produce mast for wildlife, but you're unlikely to get fruit you want to eat.
