Bargain Supermarket Fruit Trees | initial thoughts & repotting
zhlédnutí 1,1KPřed 4 měsíci
Whilst at the supermarket the other day I saw these small fruit trees at a bargain price, I decided to buy 2 of the varieties I’ve not heard of before. Honeyberry & Aronia. I’ve later found out the Aronia is commonly called Chokeberry. I’ll be giving you my initial thoughts and repotting both the trees, I decided I needed to bare root them in the end. Anyway, thanks for watching.

I absolutely love that bird bath! Size, shape, depth of the bowl. Many thanks for sharing how you did it.
Do you give them water after potting? Or because they are dormant it’s not necessary?
What size pot should I put a small fig cutting?
Love love both...but my favorite is the square.....great job
Someone gave me a bag of presumably raw hazel nuts yesterday and I've been excited to try this.. I didn't know they need stratification.. oh well.. I'll try anyways.❤
Ive started in coffee cans and yogurt dishes and styro coffee cups
I just got 6 to feed my tarantula's but I actually like them to keep as pets. The store has never sold them before. Thank you for this thorough video!
I have the same eggs from my super narket abd there is 60 in each package
Beautiful. .will add some glass decor to mine. Thanks for sharing
Liked it
Very nice ❤ it
This is done with string?? How? How do you avoid needing to replace the string 1-3 times in a job like this?
Hi, It’s thick high quality strimmer cable, I normally have to replace about once a week, I do this sort of thing for a living.
Perfect...
Hello hoping you can help me. I’ve got my beloveded grandads very old plant. But the stem is rotting & keeps falling over as it’s too heavy. There are no roots on the stems. I’m completely lost as what to do. I don’t want it to die as it reminds me of my grandad.any advice would be great
Your scoops of cement are much larger than your scoops of sand.
Wow, they look beautiful, I have done a few Bonsai in my time, including a couple of Silver Birch trees. My first was a Japanese Maple, in a pot, a beautiful red one with dissected leaves, started in about 1998/9 & is doing very well indeed. You can use any wire, not too thick, that will hold its shape when bent, try not to wrap it too tight, you will dent the branches, you can add more wire as they grow. I bend mine a little bit more every few weeks, till I’m happy with the shape, less chance of snapping/splitting the branches 🫶
Where do they stay in the evenings?
Thanks for the video, this year for my figtree it has been a very slow start with wet cold spring and not much better summer St ofar .. i have been looking for cutting or in a pot fig called. Dessert King. Early variety braber crop only .. Do you have this variety in your collection, or know where i can purchase one from Thanks Geo
Beautiful!
Hola que tal yo tenía igual una plantita de Arce rojo y media apenas 6 centímetros pero ya había sacado sus hojas pero desafortunadamente se la comió mi cotorra y solo le dejo el tronco será que todavía puede desarrollar o ya no gracias
Thank you
Howdy, Kit! 👋 I always enjoy the pruning videos. Thanks for taking us along.😃 Those are two nice looking trees. Very interesting trunk on the first one.👍 Till next time!😃
Cute cat
Really enjoy the pruning videos!! Cheers
Cheers Kit!! Great content as ever!! Hope youre well!
Great content!! 2 top lads!!
I’ve got this on my list of projects I want to do, and you did a fantastic job of demonstrating how to do it. I didn’t know about the air bubbles. Thanks!
Fantastic video. Thank you for the thorough explanation for a beginner who has been intimidated making a bird bath for quite sometime. I originally wanted to buy one, but I can’t justify wasting hundreds of dollars, up to a thousand plus on a bird bath 😞. What I’m using now is a an ugly eye sore Home Depot bucket filled with water, and a shallow dish covering the top like a lid with the solar fountain on top. The solar fountain connects to a small hose that goes into the bucket and I drilled enough drainage holes in the dish leading back into the bucket. Thanks to your video, i now have a plan to make one.
Such a wholesome video ☺️
I have just bought a gala apple tree rootstock m26 it came in a 5 litre pot.i intend to plant it in a much larger pot and was wondering if i have to shake off the soil from smaller pot or just plant it with soil and all!thanks
I wonder if you could add a slurry of concrete mix to the inside of the bowl to fill in all the bubble pockets. ? I like a smooth surface
where did you get your incubator from? ❤
I really love how this looks, it has a very classic but old-fashioned look. So east, hopefully because I am going to try it!
Thanks...would it work to embed some glass marbles around the rim? I assume a full mosaic would not work because it would end up on the underside of the bird bath where it would not be visible. But just on the outside between the inner and outer plate, pressing them in once the middle plate was pressed into place?
Howdy, Kit! Cute tree! Thanks!😃
Hiya Kit. Are you air layering any of your maples?? Definitely got a very workable shape on the acer. And the front you've chosen looks good.👍👍👍👍
This is very nice, I'll be making one for sure. Need the chickens to assist tho😂❤❤❤❤❤❤
So very nice I'm trying to do one now I put too much water in my cement though. Those are very lovely so glad I found your video
Nice work, birds and other wildlife will enjoy it.
Do you ever use air pots for your trees?
I haven’t tried them yet but I’ve heard good things.
Picked one up from the forest, put it in thr dirt. Its near 10" tall the first year
Howdy, Kit!👋 I certainly did enjoy this video because I continue to learn so much I need to know. Thanks for answering the question about feeding.😃 Can one put a fruit tree inside too big of a pot? I put my mulberry in a huge pot and it's hard to keep down in size! The pot is 2 feet high and the same across.
Hi Valorie I’m happy you found it helpful 😊thank you. The size of the pot is really used to control speed of growth, a huge pot would be almost like planting in the ground. If you prune the roots and cut back a lot of the growth we slow everything down but you can still plant it back in the huge pot.
@@GrowWithKit Thanks, Kit!😃
Dude ive been looking for a useful video on this for the last 7 days... THANKS for this video!
No problem mate, thank you for watching and commenting 🌱🌳
You need to speak up
Yeah I know thanks, this was one of my first videos over 6 years ago now.
Howdy, Kit! 👋 Thanks for the knowledge!😃 You have beautiful trees! Love the leaves on the hazelnut. What food do you use for trees?
Hi Valorie, no problem 😊 thank you 🌳🌱 no specific feed but usually try and get a natural one. I’ll do a video on feeding them soon.
Do you have any recommendations for how to prune these? I have one that’s about two years old.
Love it. Fits in perfect with my zen themed yard
Hi. Your trees are looking lovely. We have one about 10ft but isnt too full, and would like thicker. Is it ok to prune this time of year, or is it best to wait until Autumn. We havent done anything to her since planting in the ground last year. Wanted to ensure she was settled
Would you mind sharing the approximate dimensions of the trays used for this planter?
48cm & 38cm
This is exactly the style of bird bath I have been wanting to buy, and I've already got a bag of cement, so now just need to find a couple of trays with that nice rounded shape. I haven't seen any exactly like yours before.
They look like plastic plant saucers, that you put under your flower pots. You can buy various sizes at home improvement stores.
