Mei actually also works great with him. She provides cover and team splitting with wall, he provides damage. Also Blizzard into Cage fight makes it so much easier for you as nothing can fight back while frozen.
@@myob94 I’ve had 12 separate instances where I was point blank range, shot him before he started shooting me and I died, Mauga’s teammate only damage reduction should apply to himself as well
@@myob94 In a 1v1 setting, in the instance both heros have both cooldowns, yes Mauga wins. Otherwise, Bastion easily fucks him up. Think of Bastion using his shift when the tank tries to play aggressive. Everyone will shoot at him, and will likely die.
I’m having awesome fun I did run into a recent glitch playing unranked not sure what happened to cause it but I ended up being able to use my charge and still shoot at the same time, was so much fun lol
So for maximum damage with mauga at close use both simultaneously, but for longer ranges, even up to 40m (still slow) first use cha-cha to ignite then swap to gunny, and it will give you about 5 second kill times.

You explained the ability usage very well, and how to use cancel animation on his shift. But synergies, (ults, heros, abilities) that opportunity was missed. You listed counters, but not how to deal with them. Plus the expectation being the viewpoint of a top 500 tank, a guide would include footnotes, and explanation of choices during gameplay. It's a good video, just missed opportunities on what to speak on. Why I felt like it wasn't a guide. No hate, just criticism.
To be fair Mauga is one giant hitbox that can be melted down against a coordinated team. I’ve found ways to counter him already. Plus Rein has a giant shield.
recent vid covers the few escapes you do have. the best thing you can do when a mauga ults is hope your teammates enter the ring and just burst him down.

Tank having CC is generally the standards in OW2. Less CC is for DPS and Support. Meanwhile Mauga's CC requires him to put himself in the middle of the enemy team with no escape afterwards. Doomfist can punch in then slam out afterwards, Mauga is a sitting duck after his stun.

Not in the slightest, Bastion is an absolute nightmare to deal with as Mauga, especially a pocketed one

both miniguns can crit to the head. you're better off aiming for the mid body when using bot guns because the spread becomes massive.
Headshot Crit and Cha-Cha Crit does not stack. Once you are on fire, Cha Cha will deal 2x damage regardless of body or headshot.
