- Dr. Taeun Chang, Neonatal and Fetal Neurologist from Children's National, explains the intraventricular hemorrhage grading system. While she does not like the system, she knows that it is widely used in the NICU therefore important to understand how most physicians define these stages.
I could listen to her all day. Well done

Thanks for this nice explanation
My son having grade III and grade IV germinal matrix hemorrhage on right side.
the grade IV bleed is seen in right fronto -parietal petiventricular white matter and shows cystic necrosis
there is mild communicating hydrocephalus .
can u explain this report , can my son survive as a normal child, it is curable?
That’s what I want to know? Good ?
This is so cool of an explanation of bleeds and hydrocephalus. I'm 49 and was born three months premature. I was diagnosed with an old bleed by by spinal tap. My CSF was the color of coffee grounds. By the time I was a month old I developed hydrocephalus. Based on the different grades of bleeds I'm probably a three. I am legally blind and I have mild cp and some memory issues. Medical technology has gotten so much better😅
