Here’s like, the problem with the sequel.
The sequel feels like someone watched Chicken Run, hated it, and said “I can do better!”

I think my main complaint is that they just made Rocky stupid compared to how he was, I liked everything else but nowhere near as good as the original which I already thought of that before watching it.

SO true. visually, the new film is incredible. The fact that they reduced Rocky's character to nothing but a bumbling fool with terrible dialogue, really cracked and scrambled the film.
I adore the first film, and have a very distinct memory of going to a sleepover where the Host Boy couldn't sleep unless he listened to a cassette of an Audio Drama version of Chicken Run (2000). I enjoy the story, but hearing Mrs. Tweedy screech isn't very complimentary of a Good Night's Sleep.

It's always disappointing to see a fond memory get "tainted", for lack of a better word, by an underwhelming sequel. I hadn't even heard of Dawn of the Nugget, but the original Chicken Run sure does bring back memories. Great video!

I 100% agree with you 27:20 , the lighting and colouring just made everything feel way less threatening, I love the original dark shadows with little to no lighting from the first movie, it gives an unnerving feel to it while the new one is way too overly saturated
To me, Chicken Run 2 suffers the Ninjago Movie case.
Where the quality ain't as good, but because the same team still makes it, they can still do some impressive stuff. Which often masks the actual quality of said product.

I remember when I first saw the trailer to Chicken Run 2 my initial thought wasn't OH BOY SEQUEL TO A MOVIE I LOVED! It was more... Who asked for this? Why was this being made? I honestly felt like I was being nostalgia baited but I didn't fall for the lure and I just sorta forgot about it.
Idk why but the background footage reversing is so funny.
I honestly think its an easy technique to speed up editing while having something on screen

Dawn of the Nugget is just awful. It’s just the first one except this time they break in and it’s also the same plot as a The Little Mermaid 2. Not to mention the amount of character assassination and that terrible Mrs. Tweedy plot twist

@@yoshsimmons6139 Hi, I do want to address your comments quite quickly.
I think the context of the first film was vital to understanding the faults of the second. I pride my channel on trying to analyze film through the lens of its history and grab a holistic view of things. There's a million other critics who dive into just the film, but I want to build my content around understanding film history.
As for the footage thing, yeah completely see how that could be a case. I'm currently on a college schedule, and until I can make money and hire and editor, adhd sinks like that are my shorthand.

The movie was decent enough for me, but I admit it wasn't special. But this movie's saving grace was Molly, because I'm a Hilda fan.
I think bella ramsey does well in the role, but is all in molly’s writing

i don't understand why ginger and molly's voices are british in the sequel and at first i thought that dawn of the nugget is going to be centered around molly ginger and rocky's daughter while they try to keep her away from the other wall.
because of the dangers they went through.

ok..i gotta say, this review was painful to sit thought. you seem well researched and i agree with a lot of what you said, not the issue but 2 things. first your analysis is really rambley, i find myself just tuning out and losing most of what you are saying, i get you are trying to go for watch time but i'm constantly saying to myself " get to the point man!". second, work on your delivery, you got a serious case of mush mouth when speaking and your point gets lost.
keep your points brief, punchy and to the point, don't meander on a subject for too long
work on your oratory and keep yourself clear, a good technique is to speak from the chest (also other public speaking techniques would help when presenting)
First of all thank you for the advice. In retrospect I agree with certain things that you say. The biggest issue on that sense with this video was originally that I was recording on my old mic and the only remote way to work it was using the blanket fort method but yeah.

There’s nothing bad about a film being liberal leaning. Diversity in media is a founding thing that makes it good for everyone who watches it.
why are you blowing your mic out so much.... its horribly balanced and i had to turn of the video cause you started to hurt my ears...
Sorry about that, a lot of that was due to my old microphone that only recently I got replaced. Next video should be better
