- We had a talk with Ed from @VINwiki about American car chases and how the police work in the USA. Ive seen alot of comments about it being impossible to evade the police in America so I have been wanting to make a video on this topic for a while now. Dubai has also been mentioned several times and is brought up in this video. You also get to have a look on how police in Sweden worked back in the day.

I knew one of the drivers in the “Getaway Stockholm” videos that were done around around 2002.
The planning, and safety precautions they had taken was quite extensive.
All of the drivers were professional drivers, they never drove on small roads. They did the capture only on Tuesdays at 3-4 AM in the morning.

Thank you Ed for reminding me of Dado and the Mischief Teckademics videos.
Very interesting!
As I expected - it's harder to get away in US (mostly because the amount of cops is so much greater), but not at all impossible.
Lol did you even recognise the part that refers to the difference in the amount cameras or did you choose to ignore that part?
@@Conda17 Yes, the cameras play a great role as well - but, when it comes to catch the driver, it still mostly comes down to how many cops there are. The cameras can't do it on their own. Although in some countries (and maybe stated in US, it wasn't really clear in the video) they can punish the owner of the car or bike. If that's the case, the cameras can still cause quite a bit of problems, even if no cops can stop the vehicle or find the driver (unless registration plates are removed or false, but that often comes with it's own problems). Also, if someone run from the cops multiple times in the same vehicle, cameras can be a problem as well, since the cops will recognize the vehicle (so, making videos deliberately playing with the cops is probably quite hard for that reason as well - just a quick getaway and hide wouldn't be really as exiting to watch, haha)
@@Conda17 Also - even here in Sweden if you are going to set speed record between 2 cities (such as a cannonball run) or (like me) simply like speed and use it to get faster to your destination, you mostly have to avoid cops as well. Even if it can be easy to run with a fast car in low traffic conditions (given that you are a good driver) and even play with the cops for a while, one will eventually need to hide at the end.
If just running from cops, then continue along the same highway for some distance, there will most likely be cops ahead that try to use spike strips or even get out a helicopter. So the getaway videos still have to be somewhat planned and intentionally made - even if it's much easier to do it here than in the US.
I don't care how fast a vehicle is, it can never outrun a radio call.
Yes you can
No but you can outrun officers eyesight.
VinWiki is great, love the crazy stories they tell.
Bro you're the one. I hope some New crazy videos from the crazy taxist os Stokholm or New interviews with drivers. Love their stories
I had a friend who used to run from the cops in Washington state..he said you just need 2 red lights and ur gone. The cops stop at red lights and stop signs, even in the middle of pursuit..he said he'd cut up on sidewalks and stuff..he was only doing it cuz he had hard drugs with him..he got away every time in his newer wrx.
They used to. Not anymore. Now they don't chase unless it's a felony suspect.
Those I5 noises the Polisen Volvos make are glorious. 💰
No way you got Ed on here, that's soo cool!
There is a channel dedicated to all cool things in Sweden called Critical. But, the best thing on the channel is the car stuff. They take really fast nimble cars down town Stockholm late at night and bait the cops into chasing them.... You have to see it to believe it....
The Finnish invention looks like something Top Gear could have come up with in their budget police car episode.
The harpoon thing literally made me laugh out loud hahaha what the actual fuck? Damn Finland be on some different shit! :D

Big ups to Ed for giving you the time for this video
The harpoon was never used in Finland. The best chance for getting away is to use one of the millions of dirt roads but then you have to know the area very well. Also, Finnish cops have to protect life, it is their #1 priority so no one is going to shoot at you. They rather take your license plates than risk bystanders of getting hurt.
They only said that the police was interested in it. If they had used it Im sure it would have made headline 😂

I live in a place with way too many douchy cops evasion tends to be better then letting them get you. Otherwise they will crush the car simply if you go over by 5 mph.
In the last month I've had to fight a good 5 tickets and I won all of them because it was by the same cop and it was the same 5 mph charge on the same street.
There is this one police plane that is in the air 24/7 it tops out at around 200mph and will pace you and m3asure your speed.
Its a good idea to drive an unassuming car that doesn't seem fast. But in reality is probably faster then most Lamborghinis and can do well off road if the possibility comes up.
I recomend a wagon with modified body on frame chassis with the lift kits that are around 5" lift.
Definitely use a v8 or twin turbo charged v6. If you built a twin turbo charged v8 use that. Definitely install a black out switch and have infrared backups with a night vision heads up. It helps a ton.
As for why I do this. It's simply in my job. It's legal for what I do.

A lot countries are looking to limit the use of police vehicle persuits as they often cause the adrenaline fuelled drivers to panic and escescallete the potential of harm or death, to themselves, or any innocent people in their path.
For the man behind the monitor (creator of the channel), youtube gave you away a little, on "This is not a game playlist" you can see there are 2 videos made privately 👀👀👀

People run from the cops and get away all the time in the US. Especially motorcycles. It largely depends on the district. Some places have a no chase policy unless it's a serious crime.
People are just hating on you. Yeah maybe you couldn't be as blatant and make a whole CZcams channel about specifically running from the cops but I see surprisingly many cop escape videos where the cop gets close enough to read the license plate and gets dusted.
usually the cops will let themselves get dusted because the criminal usually goes back to their house with the same car and plates
with the motorcycles they know putting effort into chasing them will result in either a death or a crash
Is that a German temporary plate on the wall at the right?

Mainly just bikes getting away. Or cars in smaller towns.
Cameras? I remember being in Monte Carlo in 1995. I left my camera at the fountain in front of the grand casino and climbed up to the palace to see the changing of the guard. Whilst there a policeman approached me using a digital device to translate told me I had left my camera at the fountain and it would be there. I was to go immediately. I went and going there I saw all the cameras I hadn't noticed before.
När ska ni köra c63 w204 igjen???
vad har det med den här videon att göra?????
pls we want more police chases plsssss
Honestly here in the U.S the country is too large to really use technology to catch people. The only places where technology could be used is in big cities with high income, but without license plates you can’t really get caught, many police cars in the us only go 150, and police have to call off the chase in many cases.
No, it isn't too large. You do not have to cover all roads... Finland is sparsely populated and distance are fairly long, there are no cameras everywhere but on the main roads near cities and main intersections. We also don't have ideological problems about it, nor do we think that governments are inherently evil and out to get you.
Finland has a population of about 5.5 million and the area is 338,455 square kilometres (130,678 sq mi). Compare that to California with a population of about 39 million and an area of 423,970 square kilometers (163,696 square miles).

how about the chases in japan????
In Norway, the police have to decide if pursuing the car is to risky for them self, or other people so they sometimes abort the chase. It seems they have much more responsibility when chasing.
Once you have the license plate, trying to get away pretty much moot.
@@Liqtor If you're into something like this, you would not have driven with the correct number plate.

In Sweden you can speed almost everywhere 😀
Cmon Critical bring us some good content. Its been a while… ❤️ ✌️
Thanks for the motivating comment after spending alot of time on this. Im really desperate for pleasing your needs now.
Ok
Wasn't it the way that in sweden you don't have static speed cameras because they have to stop you and fine you? (At least that was what i was told long ago)
Because in other european countries, if it's your car and you have the license plates still on, there's no actual need to "catch" you.
Where i live, the owner of the car has some responsibility for the car: when the car itself is caught speeding but not immediately stopped, the owner will get a letter in which he either can pay the fine (and admitt that he was the one driving, which might include "points") or can name who drove and send the return letter and the driver will get the letter to pay the fine.
So trying to flee police in your car or the car of someone who lend you a car is a bad idea. (also as it just increases the fine).
Sure there are foreigners and criminals (bank robbers, seldom but once in a long while one idiot will try) who try to have a police chase.
We don't really have fast police cars, but we have twisty roads than can get blocked, and our police has something called "radio" an invention of the last millenium that can connect people from different places over "airwaves" ;-)
And helicopters. When the european Gummball race crossed our country, they mostly behaved. (i think they got some information from police how it works here).
The first time they came here, a reporter asked as police helicopter pilot and he replied" my old heli may only have 180kph top speed, but i don't need to take corners, i can go straight as the crow flies and keep my speed up. No car can do that on our roads.
And being asked about the same topic a traffic cop replied "no car is faster than my radio".
btw.: some people fleeing who severely endangered others also have been shot at by police here. (i remember an idiot dying because he thought they wouldn't shoot after he had almost ran over a police officer who just did troutine raffic checks. The (pistol!) projectile entered the rear hatch of the car, went through the rear seat, drivers seat, and ruptured the drivers lungs and stuck in the steering wheel.)
They use Volvo cars in Sweden because they are very resistant to damage compared to other cars.
if a police supercar crashes that car is gone 😂
The Dutch highway patrol used to have Porsche convertibles. It actually made financial sense at the time: they got a good deal on them, and the cars were kept more or less stock, just adding lights, siren, radio and livery. The top was removed and they drove exposed to the elements in any and all weather. But the cars were fast enough to catch pretty much anything at the time.
