Dope AF results, Walter Sorrells! Now it needs an equally dope sheath to complete the package!

I like the 2-tone micarta, and the general shape. Good job, Walter! I'm gonna see what I can knock out of a lawnmower blade, or a flat spring!

This is great - and it shows what you can do in a very reasonable amount of time with experience and access to a bunch of nice tools - thank you

Drill your handle material at the same time and profile it at the same time.

Thats amazing! Good job walter! I am just a hobbyist and beginner blade maker, and i have not been able to dedicate myself to a start-to-finish build like this.... but mine have taken a few weekends each to complete.

Why do you heat treat the metal? I’m guessing for durability?

Hey Walter. I'm part of your founders group and have been enjoying the class. I am finding that I'm in the 6 hour neighborhood for finishing a knife but I'm taking my time and not really going for time. I'm just finishing up my second knife. Did you go from a 36 grit belt to a bead blast finish? That looks good.

the main limiting factor for me in my garage is the power capabilities. I cant run my 2x72 and heat treating oven at the same time. Otherwise would be a pretty easy challenge i think.

I am not sure where to ask this question, to get a good answer. please do not hesitate to reply if you have ideas. I live in Saskatchewan, Canada. I have a garage, but its full of car stuff, and not insulated. very little room for me to set up and work with my grinder, and I'm worried about getting steel dust on my room-mates car. I do not want to take the entire winter season off.... I'm in the middle of making two knives right now. i need some ideas on how to figure this out so i can work on my knives in the winter months. I cant do it outside, its gonna get -30*C for a few months. I have thought about building a small "lean-to" off the side of the garage, but technically supposed to get a permit from the city for that and I cannot afford that... and it would be just barely enough shelter to work out there. I am living very close to the wire right now(financially) and the knifemaking is keeping me happy which is why I need to keep it up through winter. any and all insight or ideas are welcome here. I just dont want winter to be all work and no grindy-knifey. I have thought about setting up a little poly-plastic booth around my grinder, like they do when doing renos in a fully finished house. that might be the cheapest thing I can think of, but it might still take up more space than I have available.
