Ed, the leaches whisperer, or I guess yeller.
lol
2:21 Speaking of whispering, Ed in the background just mumbling âI know I know, life is scaryâ to the baby was really sweet
@@TehBuggytheyâre such loving reptile parents
đ
I was never interessted in snakes or other reptiles and I don't know why CZcams suggested this channel, but I love Emelys excited voice, when some of them hatched.
Same here. So fascinating, but still no interest in owning reptile.
SAME.
It's the ultimate mark of a great teacher, when they can keep you interested in something, purely out of their own love and fascination. It's work for Sir David Attenborough for the best part of six decades, after all!
I don't really like reptiles or amphibians, but I can't get enough of Rex or this channel. Sometimes YT f's up and makes our days better. Not often, but sometimes.
The same way I found this channel, still following after years
I guess Ed has to say "HATCH" TO ALL THE EGGS NOW. đ
Yessss!
Lol yes!
Safe to come out now babies!
Ed:HATCH
Next day
Gecko:u happy nowđ?
Lol!đ
Their eggs hatch like the ones from Alien, except with a jumpscare of CUTENESSâ€
I wonder if the people who chose the design for the eggs in Alien actually looked at how reptile eggs hatch. Thatâd be a really cool design process to learn more about
@Galinda33
Most reptile eggs dont hatch like that. They just kind of tear little lines in the egg and poke their nose out of one for a day or 2 before they make their way out. Seen lots of snakes naturally hatch but ive never seen such a neat pattern that looks like the way an Alien facehugger egg hatches, ever. Its usually just a random slit when they pip.
â@@Galinda33 H.R.Giger the person who created and designed the Xenomorphs, facehuggers and their eggs originally wanted the opening to appear more like female genitalia when that idea was rejected because the producers worried he made it in the shape of a cross because 'Well, if it's a cross, then it's religious, and people don't worry about that'
âââ@@Galinda33nope, there's a funny story about that where the eggs were originally supposed to have a single slit and look like an alien vagina and the hatching being a mockery of the human birth. Obviously, it (and some other things like Rippley walking around butt naked since she was the only one on the ship, so why bother with clothes?) didn't fly so it was changed to the X shape to mock all the christians in the movie commission vetoing that since they "love to look at crosses so much".
3:56 "These really are giant geckos!" *manhandles both in one hand*
I know right!
Oh, Mighty Ed, please bless these eggs so they may hatch~
Ed: "HATCH!"
Eggs: *hatched*
Thank you, Mighty Ed.
I love this woman
Her energy
Her partner
And this whole channel
I was playing a game I havenât been able to play in a few days cause Iâve been super sick
And I got off it ASAP when I got a notification for baby geckos !
Similar situation here, just finished a pen and paper rpg session at around midnight so I'm already pretty tired but I new this video would give me another thing to smile about to end the day. Emily's passion and energy is such a gift to the world.
Ed's haircut is looking fressshhh
I was looking to see if anyone else noticed đ
I love his haircut!!! đ«¶đŒ
i didn't even need a male to breed my leachie, she just DIY'd it herself lol. The lil one on my profile pic is the parthenogenetic baby that was produced as a result! She will be 3yo in september :) Not at alll a common occurrence, but a fun one. Congrats on your lil tree pickles!
thats awesome
I loved the leachie tails! Edâs explanation reminded me of the âyou can tell itâs an aspen tree because of the way it isâ đ geckos are so cute!
Imma be honest, I've mostly seen that meme here đ
Ed is a miracle whisperer đ
Yeller*

Ed is a miracle yeller
âŒâŒSnake discovery posted itâs gonna be a good dayâŒâŒïž.
Not for me đ
Really interesting explanation on how you paired the parents together. Congratulations on those cuties!
Leachianus babies! More and more I'm falling in love with these geckos.
(I remember your vid about how females are extremely jealous and will kill their mates if they smell another female on them 0-0)
So, Female Leachianus Geckos are basically yandere.
When I heard leachianus geckos
I first thought of the delicious nut fruit Lychees.
I love the background noise in this video. Calming.
hahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!đđđ€Ł
*Love* Lychees. Unfortunately so hard to come by in my area
@@angelitabecerra They're typically seasonal.
A snake discovery sleepover would be so relaxing...
Glad I wasn't the only one. Also @kiasmidt7678 they do do night hikes, I'm unsure if that's the same tho. I remember staying the night with girl scouts at a museum, they always called it smthn cutesy
I was just watchingnthe egg playlist and saw the notification ive always been a bit timid about snakes but these videos have helped so much with that nervous part so thank you snake discovery ^^
It may not mean much from a stranger but I'm proud of you for working to overcome your fear. Well done and big hugs from Bootle.
@@AylaGarton it does mean a lot actually I've been scared to the point I was terrified when the snakes would strike even through videos but over time watching the babies do it so much in the videos got me so relaxed to it now to where I'm not as scared
@@NikolaiWhitlock You've come a long way and I know it hasn't been easy but you're doing so well, sending you a extra big hug from Bootle.
@@AylaGarton it's very appreciated I'm very happy to have found snake discovery because I never even thought I'd have the thought to even own a snake but hog noses are so cute
â@NikolaiWhitlock I used to be terrified of snakes and now I own a lavender hognose. I get not everyone may get to that point or even want to but I always get excited when people can get past their fear to realize how amazing snakes and other lizards are. Congrats on that! It helps having amazing CZcamsrs/creators to shoe us the way â€
From the moment I held my baby leachie on one finger at the breeder's house, I was in love. Thank you Ed and Emily! If it hadn't been for the butt wiggles in your old leachie video, I wouldn't have gotten my darling. So glad you got to produce leachies!
7:45 to 8:54 you can see a snake is like hey get me on camera plsss and more time lol
I love Leachies! They have such soft bellies. Ed explaining the blood is from a Vietnamese Blue Beauty is too real though, hahaha.
That's how I got my older cat to accept a kitten I adopted. Took a month but now they play with each other and groom each other â€
Congrats on the latest babiesđđđ
10:02 Didn't know lechies date in the salty spitoon and honeymoon in fight club đ
I love that they look like pieces of tree bark
I love how small baby reptiles are, and how bigggg they can get âšâš
âŒïžâŒïžSnake discovery posted itâs gonna be a good dayâŒïžâŒïž
same thought!!!!!!!!!!đ
Ed really is magic with "HATCH!". I had NEVER seen this.
Adorable! If anyone is thinking "I'd love a crestie/leachie but I don't have the space" go for an Eurydactylodes(chameleon gecko). Same care but smaller. My boy is by far the easiest of all my snakes/frogs/salamanders. Crestie diet and nothing larger than fruit flies for occasional livefood. They also don't drop their tails!
The tail looks like it's retractable. Like they could just slurp it in if they wanted.
They're so cute! đ„°
As someone who lives in an area with tons of Mediterranean house geckos, it blows my mind to see how HUGE Leachianus geckos are!
My girl just turned 1 today! Love her, she's has had issues sticking to smooth objects for as long as I've had her though and according to the vet she's perfectly healthy đ€·
babies!! they re the cutest oh my goodness!
"You want to make bebes with me? Well then lets fight"
Oh lord, rescue me someone, anyone! đŹ
That's the same kinda vibe as someone pinned under a sword telling their combatant they're beautiful.
My day is infinitely improved by snake discovery
Lechies are so adorable, like floppy skinned puppies!
Eggie season has started yeah!!!!!
I love that you have to swap their cages just like swapping rooms as the proper way to introduce two cats!
The way you bonded those geckos is exactly how you bond rabbits also!
And the way Emily describes female geckos⊠I feel like it a universal description of females đ
Not true! Some animals (including us) can be plied with food, and some animals prefer the cowerers đ
I have bean chaching snake Discovery for ... 5 years now I must say , I dont regreat it . Also I love the babies âšïžâšïž
PJ's leachies, to top off the excitement. Congrats!
whereâs my under an hour crew >:D đđ»
Thanks for the video! I loved the explanation of how hard it is to breed those lechies. I never knew that crested were thought to be extinct a mere 30 years ago you wouldn't know it because they are absolutely everywhere!
I love their darker heads! I wonder how that helps them camouflage in the wild? Iâm thinking like a darker tree bark section or as a shadow under a branch?
If I had all the money in the world I'd love a leachie. Admired them for years đ€§
She's so loudly excited đ I'd be worried about frightening the babies with my loud voice and jerky movements, so I'd probably just quietly tell them how cute they are and how much I love them â€
*GASP!* ALL bow to the hatching god! Ed is our one and only true god! đ
*Seriously magical tho* XD
And Emily shall be the godess of gecko grabs!
ALL HAIL!!! :D
*DOUBLE GASP!* the gods hath liked my comment!
I am not worthy! đ
... oh shoot it dissapeared when I wrote that...
Guess I really am not worthy đ
Love it! Ty so much for showing some geckos. They're so precious~ Ed's super power is finallyt revealed, that was hilarious~
Not the leachianus domestic disputes đ I'm glad the pairing worked out so well! Congrats!
Apparently Ed is dragon born and knows the call for hatching...
I agree with Ed on this one, they're the first ones you've bred so you should totally keep them! And given what you said about the males not always surviving pairing attempts, it might be good to keep an extra male on hand just in case, of course hopefully it doesn't ever need to happen!
The leaping into the water dish was so funny, lil gecko looked so cute in the water bowl đ
Congrats on the Cresties and Leachies!
Yay! Congratulations on your first leachie hatching đŠđ
I've wanted a leachie forever and this video definitely has not helped the desperation to have one đ€Ł so stinking cute
I love how excited you guys get so excited over all the new babies no matter what species it is. Congrats on the new babies.
Thank you Ed, Emily and everyone at SD for all you do. I love this channel so much and I'm so grateful that you're here to not only help the animals, educate people but also to be a virtual friend to us all. lots of love x
I was born in '94. Pretty cool, a thought-to-be-extinct reptile was rediscovered the year I was born, and now captive bred crested geckos are commonly kept as pets.
Leachies are on my list of dream reptiles!
We just went to a zoo and the souvenir my son (4) picked out is this big stuffed diamondback rattlesnake with a rattle in its tail, he named it Ed because this is his favorite channel!
Bahaha the poor plant! The babies are soooooo stinkin cute!!! Love you guys!!
I LOVE Leachianus! one of my dream animales to keep one day
12:44 The space swapping is good for introducing cats or dogs to their new buddy as well! Also pets and babies haha!
Little guys!!!!! They're so cute
Those are so cute! I wish I had the room for a proper size tank for one!
Crested and Leachianus geckos are so cool looking. I love how they look bark or leaves. So amazing!â€đ
Ahhhhh I always get so excited for egg hatch videos!!! I just love seeing the little babies đ„ș and for once Iâm seeing it within the first 24 hours! YES
Gargoyle geckos are kinda like the poor man's leachi gecko. I love them.
I watched this the first time with CC and on mute. I could hear Emily's excitement through the words. I'm enjoying the joy the second time around with sound on.
Omg. 1994 was 30 years ago....... I feel so old now lol
Their little eggs sort of look like pistachios... Cant guarantee I wouldnt accidently pull an Omnomlette here... đ
Been binging snake discovery lately, im so glad i caught this video right as it released!
The glass surfing snake in the background it just so cute trying to steal the show!
Emily's joy always brings me so much joy. Congrats on the new gecks!
The babies literally look like tree bark, that's camouflage evolution at its finest.
Congrats on the new additions to the Zoo. Without a doubt the cutest gecko, ever!
I love leachies, wrinkly flopbeasts. They're so cute, and those babies are just adorable!
YAYYYYY! SO HAPPY 4 U RN ! BEST OF LUCH WITH THEM Xx BIGGEST SUPPORTER RIGMHT HERE â€â€â€â€
5:36 I think you might be mistaken, the Leachianus is still considered to be the largest living geckos species.
You might be confusing the very recent reclassification of the extinct giant gecko Hoplodactylus delcourti to Gigarcanum delcourti as being a recent new species.
OH MY!!! CUTENESS OVERLOAD!!! đ đ€ đ đ€ đ
Lol looks like Ed has a new career choice. The lichee egg whisperer.
lol 5:57 someone in the background is trying to get their cameo (or snack, lol!) (When they're in the snake room, snake rack to the left of Emily, bottom most bin ;)
I'm so excited for baby season, it's ridiculous. I've been re-watching all the hatching videos. *squee* BABIES.
"Who are you talking to?" "BABIES!"
Fun fact: Geckos actually use the Van der Waals force to stick to things, not an electromagnetic force
For anyone interested: Gigarcanum delcourti was the gecko species on New Caledonia that was larger than a Leachie. They were naturally rare, but not endangered. But went extinct by the mid 1800s due to colonial exploitation of the island.
Would it be that one? I made a comment asking about it because they were talking as if the gecko was currently living
Actually, it's thought they were on the verge of extinction before the island was fully exploited by colonialism since there is a complete lack or records in french museums or literature besides a single taxidermy specimen, so it might have been an important food source once for the indigenous people there.
For the longest time the only specimen known was thought to be from New Zealand, since there's oral stories and a first-hand account of seeing 2ft long giant geckos here in NZ.
Only recently DNA analysis shows it's likely more related to New Caledonian geckos, and just last year was put into a new genus; _Gigarcanum delcourti_ with the old name _Hoplodactylus delcourti_ now being an out of date synonym. I feel that's where they've gotten confused.
17 seconds! My record! Btw I am from Portugal đ”đč
Oh gosh they are soooo cute! I really want to have geckos, but I don't have the money or even the space so I'm waiting to start having my own and once I do I'm going to adore these littles geckos so much! I always found Crested Geckos to be so cool all because I love their toe pads and their ability to stick and their colors. Their colors remind me so much of fall, which is my favor season, so I really really like that.
The Leachies are just so freaking cute- Even as adults they just have such a cute face and I would so want to have one as a pet one day, but that's a future, future, future pet. One where I know I can actually provide for and all that. So....mainly I'm just waiting and playing the waiting game, but other than that I will continue to watch these videos and do side research in the meantime!
Omg theyâre so cute!1!:3
In the UK you are required to give nocturnal and crepuscular species UV as they do bask and cryptic bask (expose small amounts of themselves through leaves etc). They have access in the wild so if we want the best for our animals we should give them it in captivity. Also worth noting that most places won't allow smaller than 4 x 2 x 2 ft for terrestrial enclosures as that's the smallest that holds a proper heat gradient. I love you guys and what you do, I just wanted to mention that care requirements are higher for the UK
Congrats Ed on exercising the same power I use to "make" the light turn green when I snap my fingers.
I am SO excited because I have been able to confirm that my family and I are going to be able to go to Snake Discovery zoo!!!!! So if this summer you see a grown adult crying in your zoo from happiness please don't find me weird! When I discovered Snake Discovery in 2018 I was at the hospital for an over night stay. I was in a lot of pain & my husband wasn't allowed to stay with me. I spent the night watching all of your content. 6 Months later I was having multiple surgeries & had to stay in bed mostly (I was stuck like this for another year). I was struggling with the pain & my depression, night was the worst. The thing that got me through it? Snake Discovery (And Bob Ross). Emily & Ed I know you started this as an educational channel but truly you have changed my life for the better. Thank you for introducing me to the world of reptiles!
"Babiessssss!!'
-Emily forever-forever
Both geckos are beautiful! Cuteness overload!
They are sooo cute~đ
Thank you for sharing this video~đ€
You forgot that crested geckos drop their tails when the wind blows the wrong way sometimes.đ
Ed is the man to get the eggs to hatch apparently đ
These lechi geks are waaay too cute! I wish they were more friendly, or dog-like, b/c they're so cool and cute, all I wanna do is cuddle cuddle cuddle... but I don't think they would like that too much. They really are super adorbs. Congrats to mom & dad gek, and to Ed & Emily, on the new additions đ
Absolutely gorgeous
Congratulations baby Leachies!!!
Congrats on your Leachianus babies !!
Love leachesđ€ congratulations on the new leache babies đŠ
Yay! Babies â€Love to see all the babies
