As someone who’s built VW air cooled engines, the cost for your ev conversion is similar to building a performance stroker ice lump.
Can't wait to see the conversion. Loved your van journey. I have a 58 Ford Pickup I might convert. I must say, out of my decades long Bug ownership, my bugs never, ever had a jack places there...hope it didn't contribute to the leak....be well.

I love classic cars, but since I was in a head-on collision, I would never consider driving one anymore, I don't want to see them go away, but I also don't think they're safe to drive regularly.
Grew up a VW Bug and really loved it. Just think a family of four fit in it perfectly. Can't wait for the conversion.
I disagree with the fun you can have with an ev, as I love hearing the sounds, and constantly working on cars. The originality, the engineering and experience; it’s all different. I think electronic “motors” can be cool for those who want to get from a to be more reliably. As for myself, I like the thrills of all that can happen when driving a motor vehicle. Vintage cars are reliable so long as you take care and do the proper maintenance, as all vehicles require, it’s part of owning a car. Love the videos though Louis, very cool to see the process✌️. From one VW owner to another, cheers man.🥂(BTW, I will converting my car to a diesel when my engine/if my engine goes. I love 2.0 diesel haha).

The smoothnes and reliability of electronic drivetrain just makes more sense for me.
There are plenty of cars I would want, as an EV conversion:
VW Beetle, Citroën 2CV, DMC DeLorean, Reliant Robin, old Fiat 500, Renault 4, Trabant 500, and many more...
I'm really looking forward to seeing this series progress, I have an old classic I'd like to convert but I haven't a huge budget. This I think will be really useful, thanks Louis 👍

I totally agree with you Louis that classic cars are more reliable if they are converted to electric. It means that there are no reliability issues if they will be used most of the time.

What do you think you’ve learned from the voltz wagon van? I know you keep talking about getting by as cheap as you can, but do you think that will run into problems down the road?
I agree that you can take a vintage vehicle and convert it to electric. To me it may only slightly take away from the overall feel of that vehicle. But there are some vehicles that I think still warrant the gasoline/petrol engine under the hood/bonnet. Otherwise, some of those classic cars can benefit from the nice torque the electric motors have!

Pretty sure he jacked your bud up on the fuel pipe thought it was a strange/ not carefully selected place to put the jack for lifting.
having more voltage is better so that you drive the system at lower current! What is the KWh on the batteries?

Doesn't 5 battery setup give you less range, compared to 6 battery? It should give more power though

The thing that worries me in converting classic cars to electric is the safety. No airbags, no crush panels, basic seatbelts, poor basic brakes, out of date suspension. No ABS. So please make some effort to improve the safety where you can. Could you weigh the car before the conversion then again after?

You can sell the engine of the car so you get some money back
One thing I have learned from watching Louis videos is that EV are unreliable so I will stick to gas or diesel powered vehicles.
use electrolysis its cheaper and almost nothing to refull if you know how to collect hydrogen, your in business............then put it into a closed system
The biggest disadvantage of converting an old car is that compared to new cars it is not safe at all in case of an accident. Even if you drive carefully, there are always other people who are reckless.
Modern vehicles are safer (sort of) but no car is safe over 50mph. The EuroNcap safety tests are all done at very low speeds, most are between 18 and 36 mph and sadly 68% of fatalities are at speeds below 38 mph😢.
Well you should be nicer to Ur baby making a video about ripping out in inside and making it carry around the new bits no wonder it KO itself... My son said he didn't like my car and he wanted a new one why he was in it .. 5 minutes later the radiator blew up😂😢

I've owned 3 old Bugs.. same age as me. Best car ever made. Why turn an indestructible car into a broken down Tesla heap? Just put a Porsche engine in one.. you'll love it.
