Hog is actually a beast right now. I have a 90% win rate since his rework (over ~15 games in low diamond). And I'm not even great at hook combo, or even hooking in general. My hook acc on average is probably like 45-55%
If the healing numbers weren't so insane right now and Ana didn't hard-counter Hog so much, he'd definitely be a very good pick as a tank. So what if it's a little harder to oneshot 90% of the heroes in the game, if the healing was toned back you'd do like 80% damage and then kill them in the next shot almost every time.

How is he not a very good pick? I have almost a 90% win rate in low diamond right now since the rework and I wasn't even a hog player before that. You should be playing corners with pig pen to hook and body block, so if Ana nades you, you're already able to LoS the enemies behind the corner. Plus her nade is irrelevant if you have a LW or Kiriko on your team.
Your Zen played a huge role in dominating this game. He had perfect orbs for every hook. Not saying flats has a better hog then you, but the discord orb was critical here.
Okay but hes in top 500. Theres an arguement to be made here that in any given situation on zen you should be discording hogs hook everytime. In diamond this type of thing stands out not in top 500. Not tryna be dismissive cause u right but, still.

I've never understood how Flats is as high as he is. I see him make plays all the time where I think "I'd be dead in this scenario", but for one reason or another he gets away with them. Like the way he got dominated this game should be how it goes for him every match, since this is the typical way he plays.

Yeah been essentially only playing hog past few seasons and he's honestly not as bad as people say sorta like where he is at, it's just rare you get a team that's willing to take picks like kiri lifeweaver to protect you as hog tho when you get omega counter picked by enemy team. Prepared for them to lower his power significantly with this upcoming rework just hope it's not too much.
The one shot nerf just made him a lot more team reliant. You need those people to finish your kills because many times people will survive with 20 hp and run away. It also made his matchup vs Ana a lot more painful because if you hook her and she doesn't die you will get slept and naded instead. So while Hog can work it's just a headache. His counters are as good as they were before but you have a lot less outplay options
Even the counter picks aren't that strong if you're decent. I'd say Bastion Ana is his worst enemy, but as long as you just play angles until you bait his turret form and/or ana nade, then you can just walk in and delete them. Which in most cases is easy since it's not like Bastion is going to flank you lol

He didn't miss the first 2. He connected on Bastion, but it disconnected because he hid behind the corner. Then he hooked Rein, but it disconnected because shield turned into it and disconnected it. Still counts as long as it connects, even if it gets broken by LoS

Thats the point you made, just changed it to hog. But hog was gutted and getting a rework so why can't zen get the same treatment? If thats the point you are making because of "identity" as a defense then hog shouldn't need a rework and revert his nerfs, if you say hog needs the rework then that makes you biased towards zen. So which is it hog rework then later on the future for zen or cancel rework and keep zen as is.

The arguement was that hog wasnt viable for many seasons and delayed his rework a few more months leaving him in a state of unviability. Lets not kid ourselves that hog wasnt gutted for 2 whole seasons and was left there for a long time, it still holds up.
