I'm a Muslim. But I don't see your point. The truth is the truth. An injustice is an injustice. And anyone who boldly champions the rights of the downtrodden will be my friend.
Owen is incredibly courageous for speaking out on this issue. I am in my 60's, but I've never seen such one-sided and racist coverage of a war by the mainstream media in my lifetime.
The overt dehumanisation of Palestinians is a disgrace to the journalism profession. Even more staggering of the silence of so-called 'experts' on UK media, mostly retired military officers, as to whether Israel is committing war crimes. Indeed, most are cheering on Israel, with the incessant and false "self-defence" and "human shields" arguments, to justify their atrocities. Lets be frank - this is clearly a war of ethnic cleanising.
Our military academies train every officer as to the Rules of Armed Conflict, and what constitutes war crimes. That says much as to the moral compass of the military profession, which is meant to be 'honourable'. Finally, Starmer is indeed a liar. As an eminent human rights lawyer, he will be well aware of the above.

I am an activist but now see others taking to the street in numbers who have never ever before taken part in protests.
They are coming out in support of Palestinians because they understand that this is all wrong. Especially since Russia started hostilities in Ukraine & there was an explosion of sympathy for the Ukrainians.
One very crucial comment: israel are framing this as if it were happening in a vacuum, when it is the result of history. Everybody needs to be reminded of how the Brits started the rot in 1948, but as with Ireland, the government are refusing to take responsibility for past deeds and are not allowing the citizens to know the truth (the way history is taught at school), and I am saying this as a part Jew who supports Israel...And I am very honoured to be in the same camp as Myriam Margolies. I also think that unconditional support of israel is sowing the seeds of a backlash and tomorrow's antisemitism. Tha Palestinians are not Hamas, their lives are as important as the Ukrainians', Jews', Europeans' etc...

They said that when they made the hole in the wall, all those young guys went out and came back with the civilians.
Have you seen the video of the lady who was released and turned back to take the Hamas fighter's hand and wish him Shalom?
She said that the young guys who snatched her treated her badly, but once they were in Gaza with Hamas they were treated well. So it kind of makes sense if the young guys brought them to Hamas, but they didn't actually want them, that they tried to return them!

In addition, in Israel it's illegal for a Jew and a non-Jew to marry, so it's hardly a society where everyone is free to be with the person they love.
The solution is obviously a truly democratic (non-theocratic) state where everyone has equal rights, including the right to citizenship, and is protected by the law.
As far as I can see there are two prisons, Gaza and Israel. Whilst being sympathetic to the bloodshed being stopped, I'm also aware of the words of Golda Meir - i,e., if Palestine puts its weapons down there's peace, if Israel...there's no Israel. What fascinates me is how rapidly this coverage switched from the atrocities of Hamas to how people now seem so willing to go Israeli bashing, with marginal lip service to the original cause to provide credibility. Truth? Whose? Commentators like these were chanting 'Gas the Jews' in Sydney and convicting Israel of atrocities...before they'd done anything! They just jumped in. What truth does that indicate, if you step back? I presume one that many don't want to hear, just yet. Jones is a cheap gas-lighter looking for the next cause to use for self-promotion, and probably needs a long incognito holiday in one of the numerous states in the region, other than Israel.

While yes it’s about making Palestinians different to western countries, however not just that ignoring Christians and what were Arab Jews within the Palestinians supports the idea they are different, not like us, not normal. I used to like Owen’s stance until his comments following a private BBC screening with, Israeli military spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari of the 7/10/23 uprising. Instead of remaining curious to events, Owen immediately said that Hamas were terrorists (despite them being cited officials of the Gazan population), that they were to blame for all deaths and the scorching of the Kubbutz. Things which have been debunked, when it has become very known that Israelis burnt and murdered their own. Also, he seemed to be totally ignorant to the UN charter where it is a recognised right for oppressed people to uprise against their oppressor.
If his views have now changed due to new information, he should recognise this and retract his comments. But this quick to spout the curated narrative was a shock

Palestinians opposing the growing colonisation were increasingly molested by the brits¹ through the 1920s. The east european 'nisers were gradually trained and being involved more & more, as time went by. By the 1930s they even represented a threat, not only to the locals, but to the brits, too.
Since 1948 Palestine was almost completely taken over² consolidating the colonisation.
By 1967 the rest of Palestine was run over, and have been occupied ever since.
When in 2005 Gaza was cleared of settlers, the area was left under complete and increasingly brutal siege³.
There is no way anyone could have done anything differently regarding autonomy under such circumstance. Of courses the prison guards and their leadership arr responsible for the restrictions, under which they submit the detainees.

There are many academic studies into terrorism and although Jewish terrorism under the British mandate is known about, not largely, but it is certainly known in political circles there are previous involvement of jews, in terrorism, pre dating Palestine. It wasn't about the abasement of jews but was largely political in nature. Pre revolutionary Russia and anarchist terrorism in Edwardian England certainly saw jews involved. It also explains why terrorism was used in palestine, under the mandate and later by the Israeli government given the vast majority of Jewish immigration to Palestine was Russian and Eastern European in origin.
