Going to higher drinking age had to do with many people being killed or injured in trafic accidents caused by drunk drivers. Age requirements were hoped to limit younger people driving drunk. Mothers Against Drunk Driving was an organization pushing this as some of their children were killed by teen drunk drivers . Food has chemicals improving taste and making overeating more likely according to some people. Tipping is getting worse now. Its hard to pay employees with high cost of music. Not using metric. The thing about guns and alcoh9l is that guns are seen as a constitutional right. We here in the US are obsessed with our rights, so this means guns are treated differently than some other things. Those other things might include MORAL issues. For instance, drinking alcohol is seen as immoral by some people. This is why kids are not allowed to drink, people feel that would be setting kids on an immoral path. If the Constitution had an amendment protecting a person's right to drink alcohol, you'd see 10 year olds drinking beer on the playground. In the US it's a constant battle between what's legal and what's moral. The moralists have succeeded to some degree in getting their morals turned into laws. But as this video points out, the results can vary state to state.
