    Happy Father's Day John. When ever I fire up the Echo 210, I prep just like if I were to run a chain saw, full length chaps, Oregon hard hat with a built in ear muffs and a full face screen along with safety glass's and I still get stuff in my eyes. Nice vid.

    John, my Echo 210 was given to me 14 years ago and it had several years of use on it before I got. My 210 is a brushwacker with a very small guard on it that I converted to a string trimmer.... stuff go's all over. F.Y.I. I just started using "canned" pre-mix fuel, no methane, no carb problems, no fuel line problems and it starts easy.

    • @CTSCAPER
      @CTSCAPER  Před 7 lety

      I haven't pulled the trigger on that stuff...yet. It sounds really cool but it's so hard to pull the trigger on gas at that price.

    • @FishFind3000
      @FishFind3000 Před 7 lety

      CTSCAPER I find that if you use good quality oil, like stihls synticite oil. I had fuel stabilized and only mix as much as your going to use. I only do 2 gallons at a time. During the winter it would be nice to use the canned stuff since t doesn't go bad. I empty my tools during the winter or start them at some point durning the winter.

    • @MrBucidart
      @MrBucidart Před 7 lety

      If my small engines were my daily users, like in your case, no problem, but here in Nor-Cal, we have a blend for winter fuel and they change the blend for summer fuel. The last local gas station that had 100 octane non methanol just closed up. California gas is a killer on small engines.

    Thank you for the great video...but how do I do this without throwing the grass clippings into my new mulch every time? I have put up a rubber border between the grass & mulch, but the weed wacker still throws grass into the mulch & it looks bad.

    • @TheFracturedfuture
      @TheFracturedfuture Před 2 lety +1

      It's impossible to not throw grass clippings on mulch beds when using a string trimmer, the best thing you can do is just use the blower very lightly to get the grass clippings out.

    John, have you tried sweet peet for a mulch? It's a fine and breaks down nicely into humus for amending clay. It won't kick up on you at all since it is almost like a powder.

    • @CTSCAPER
      @CTSCAPER  Před 7 lety

      Sweet peat would be awesome for this process and I like the look of it a lot. I went all sweet peat one year for maintenance mulching and the weeds were out of hand. Hence, I stick with my shredded pure hemlock for clients and chainsaw dust and shredded bark for my house.

    You make it look so darn easy! Thanks for the vote of confidence. Is it a good idea to take the guard off while you are edging?
    I'm a newbie at this and would like to know why my line breaks every 10 feet. I have to stop edging, take the spool off the trimmer, take the spool apart, re-feed the line out of the spool, replace the spool on the trimmer, go back to edging, and guess what happens in 10 more feet? Can you help me here? Thanks again.

    John, my husband makes a mess of my mulch every time , will this prevent the grass debris from getting in the mulch?

    • @CTSCAPER
      @CTSCAPER  Před 2 lety

      The grass 'clippings' will get in the mulch but they will dry out in a day or two. You can take a leaf blower and spread them around a little bit to improve the apprearance if you don't like the appearance.

  • @RMalai

  • @MisterTeeLow

    Would you recommend this for landscapes that have never been edged before? I want to create one where I can add mulch, but at this point it's just some plants that were there before I bought the house and grass. No edging present whatsoever.

    • @CTSCAPER
      @CTSCAPER  Před 5 lety +1

      No. You have to have a good edge to start with this process.

      If you have a larger unit with:Stihl fs111 or a bit of time.
      I use mine regularly for it with 3+ line & it works a treat.
      You could also use a metal blade, works very well.

  • @mjallenuk
    @mjallenuk Před 7 lety

    Interesting to see someone else do what I do everyday ... I suggest a fixed heavier line and getting rid of the bump head. It lasts longer and is a lot easier to use. I have the guard removed as well but that's really a pro thing I don't suggest home owners try that!

    • @CTSCAPER
      @CTSCAPER  Před 7 lety

      I've never tried the guard removed and don't suspect I ever will. I fear what could happen though I probably would like it if I tried it.
      The weedwacker has to be the most versatile tool in the landscapers arsenal. You can use it for what it's designed for, use it to re-edge beds, and I'm using it more and more often to control weeds in the landscape as well.

    • @mjallenuk
      @mjallenuk Před 7 lety +1

      I confess I kept the guard for the longest time till this year when a friend finally convinced me to change. The removal of bump head woe's, heavier line and the clear line of sight means you can be a lot more effective and precise in your work. It goes without saying that PPE is a must. You are however more likely to see stones before flipping them through a window!
      I couldn't be without my FS94 and if it broke today I'd replace it tomorrow!

    • @CTSCAPER
      @CTSCAPER  Před 7 lety +1

      I enjoy the speed feed on my Echo. You have to be careful you don't get string behind the head or it gets stuck. I agree. If my weedwacker broke I'd get the exact same model right away.

    I want to try this but my garden corners are full of weed, strong plant roots and shrubs..??

    • @CTSCAPER
      @CTSCAPER  Před 4 lety

      You have to define the edges, aka manually cut the edge, before you can use this method. Some gardens don't need a crisp edge, if the plant roots keep the grass choked out and it looks good don't mess with it. Keep it simple.

  • @FishFind3000
    @FishFind3000 Před 7 lety

    Also if your get a weed walker with a proper guard like Stihl or husky and not give it all it's got you shouldn't have much stuff flying. I do this for my driveway edging and it works great and I do it right by my cars. I do avoid doing it at anything driving by tho. Just use enough throttle to get the job done.
