I'm so glad you covered this. Fatal Frame (especially the second) is one of my favorite series and I had a hard time finding as much in depth content to watch
Yes, you're covering Fatal Frame! And there's so much lore here as well! I can't wait to hear more and to learn more about how other cultures influenced things! Great job, Muse!
And there is also a theory in China which we believe that the choice of camera in the Fatal Frame series, is a representation of the power of science can eventually break down feudal superstitions. And there's an idea that Inoue Enryō is the prototype of Dr. Kunihiko Asou.
Thing is, the Camera Obscura is clearly supernatural, this thing goes way beyond science. Science can’t explain everything, some things go beyond our ability of comprehension
A "Pepper's Ghost" effect which I've always loved are the ghostly dancers in Disney's Haunted Mansion" attraction, as your ride vehicle passes through the Ballroom, you see ghostly figures, including dancers. What you are looking at are very large panels of glass. What you are seeing is reflections of figures below and above your ride vehicle, referred to by fans as "Doombuggies".
Love your videos! I started out with Resident Evil, then got into Silent Hill, and then Parasite Eve. I don't know how much there would be in the way of symbolism, but have you ever considered a series for Parasite Eve?
Unrelated to Fatal Frame, but folklore/superstition regarding mirrors is prevalent even in other media. One other video game that utilized a mirror to defeat an enemy is in Little Nightmares. And quite apt since the villainess is a Japanese aristocrat with dark powers and the mirror found serves as a reflective weapon to reveal her weakness.

I must say i enjoyed this and hope there is more to come!
They considered a vacuum cleaner as the main weapon? You mean Fatal Frame could have been "Scary Luigi's Mansion"?
Yay! I was hoping you'd do a symbolism video on Fatal Frame! It's such an awesome series. My favorite is 3.
Your videos help me relax before bed. I was struggling to sleep so glad you uploaded. Thanks!
