Here are a few keys to consider if you are looking to improve your iron play. The 3 keys I have included in this video stand true for almost all of the good ball strikers I have worked with so there is a good chance if you are able to incorporate them into your move they will help your ball striking.
The drill and recommendation on how to train these keys is at first tricky if you have not practiced before with shorter swings or at slower speeds. However most players adjust quickly and then find this kind of training extremely helpful.
As always more than happy to answer any questions!
Thanks for watching and enjoy the process!

Thank you Ian for another great video. Being more conscious of the right elbow in the downswing is a great help in stopping me casting the club. Forgot how good it feels to compress the ball, more often that is!!

Well explained. You have covered lots of detail in this 6 minute video. Like it.

I worked on this drill a couple of days and I'm still hitting the ball pretty high. My contact is good though. I'm guessing my hands aren't ahead at impact so maybe I need to turn more. Should I slow down my swing until I get the lower flight? Any ideas will be appreciated. I haven't videoed it yet so that's next.

Great to hear you gave it a go! Couple of options here to consider/try -
      1) Just check the face in the delivery position. If it is open too much the body will slow down from a rotation stand point to square the face, this will also add loft though. Ideally have face angled at 11 o’clock position coming down into shot would be potentially something to consider.
      2) Tee the ball up maybe an inch off the ground. Doing this as a drill will typically make a player exaggerate keeping hands more in front and rotating more. Obviously too much release here will hit the tee a lot. Do this once again with half swings and play with the speed you do it.
Be interested to hear if either of these help! Camera helpful in lots of cases, helps that awareness of connecting feel and real.
      Good luck!👍

For this drill are you mainly thinking turning your chest or are you also thinking hip turn?

When I am moving through the feel was more chest and getting to that tall controlled finish. Hope that helps!
