Also, we call the sandwich paper, “deli paper” because it comes wrapped around a sandwich you order from the deli (delicatessen). Pretty much the same name as in German!

I have literally just finished watching the dephemerember videos and it was a joy to be able to progress straight on to the start of the journal process. I only found you and Luise in early January and I'm so new to JJ, but I've learnt SOOOO much already. This cover is beautiful. When you'd finished the background it looked like you were peering through a murky forest with light filtering through the leaves, vines and branches in the background. Beautiful!

Hi Barbara. Thanks for sharing the process of making the cover. It is very inspiring to see how the background changed several times by putting another layer on top, removing it partly and start again until you are happy with it. That is the best way to do it (unless you already have a final picture of the result in your mind) - experimenting and learning. This journal will be so amazing ... the golden-rayed forest cover featuring the "shimmering" magpie and Rita's beautiful card. Gorgeous! I did a Google search and learned magpies are part of the raven family and are considered very clever and intelligent. Their plumage is iridescent and you portrayed it perfectly 😍. Lovely! The cover is so gorgeous, it would have been lovely with nothing on it, So in North America, they call the paper you used Deli paper. Deli stands for delicatessen which is the place you get meats and cheeses and sometimes things like sandwiches etc.
