- SMOKED BEEF RIBS - This is one of the all time classic recipes for a barbecue session. Beef Ribs pack an awesome beefy flavor and are perfect combined with a good Texas Rub.
Total cooking time: 7 hours 00 minutes
Preparation time 0 hours 40 minutes
Cooking time 6 hours 20 minutes
Suggested tools USA:

Ingredients:
Beef Ribs - 1 large cut
Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
Ground pepper - 2 tablespoons
Coarse salt - 1/2 tablespoons
Garlic powder - 1/8 tablespoons
Onion powder - 1/8 tablespoons
Mustard powder - 1/8 tablespoons
Celery powder - 1/8 tablespoons
How To:
07h00m - Start up your smoker and set it to smoke at 285 degrees Fahrenheit or 140 Celsius
06h40m - Trim the excess fat of the beef ribs
06h30m - Mix the spices and apply the olive oil (it will help to make the rub stick.) Then apply the rub.
06h20m - Place the beef ribs on your smoker and smoke them for around 5 to 6 hours. Use Hickory or Oak chunks.
00h20m - Take the ribs of the smoker when the core has reached 200 degrees Fahrenheit or 93 degrees Celsius. Let the ribs rest for about 20 minutes
00h00m - Enjoy !!!

I normally cut the ribs parallel with the bone and season top and sides I really like the bark tenderness and kosher salt and fresh cracked pepper... ant the other ingredients I have tried yet 250 for 5 hours u can't go wrong

What is this exact cut of meat called? All I can find are spare ribs (removed from ribeye roasts) and individual short ribs.
Ionwe87 same here. I think it's the short plate (5th -8th rib) that usually gets hacked up into individual short ribs as well as cross cut. I love the idea of cooking it on the BBQ as a whole roast. Maybe as a special order but in my location very few traditional butcher shops.

just out of curiousity how long did you leave the meat cooking in the smoker at around 285F? I tend to smoke briskets, butts, shoulders over night between 220 - 250F.
He Anson, I smoke these higher.. the ribs and membrane will protect the meat and keep it moist. Times and temps are always in the video description.

What cut of beef is this? In the US we don't usually get this cut as a whole roast. It looks like the short plate #5-8 ribs. Where are you cats at? I thought the beef in Europe was inedible- only good for long, wet cooking. This roast looked awesome!
yes we do get those in the US. Those are called beef short ribs. Butchers cut them into smaller pieces most of the time. The ribs you're referring to with 5-8 ribs are called beef back ribs. There two different kinds of ribs you can get.

thanks bro, i heard that beef short ribs are a better choice because they generally have more meat, personally i'm trying to have organize a bbq for the whole family every two weeks so it would help what ribs to look for. thanks!
Those are plate ribs. Usually available at a good butchers shop. Not too common at grocery stores. Usually about 4.00 to 5.00 dollars a pound.
Texas Style Rub is salt and pepper.

I don't get it. Was that just a "here are my dry rub ingredients" video? I smoke beef ribs all of the time, and watch a lot of videos. This provided the least advice but, admittedly, some of the juiciest looking ribs.
