    Have traveled thousands of miles in a MC7 with the 4 speed manual transmission which took skill & knowledge of machinery to operate. The MC7 had more power & could climb hills much better than the MC8`s with their automatic transmissions. Have had to help to get more than 1 of them going so as to get to work! At the end of the rural route in Tillamook county the bus would have to sit from 8:30 pm Friday night until 9:30 am route Monday. Many times the batteries would run down & as 1 person, (assigned driver) started engine directly in engine bay another person,(me) would have to hold the throttle down to get engine to catch & start.Had to get to work! Had to have bus operate & had no time for another bus to be sent out from the bus barn 2 hours away. The drivers all knew me well as I was the passenger who was left off on Hwy 101 at an old horse barn where I would then transfer to my parents horse for the rest of the way home. Turk always knew when the busses were coming as they went right by his old barn.

    • @frederickbooth7970
      @frederickbooth7970 Před 3 měsíci +4

      @@BusTVChan The mc9`S had a little more power & the auto. transmission was improved from when they 1st came out in the mc8`s. When the auto.s came out it did make driving much easier for the drivers in urban driving. Kind of miss the old days of riding the Greyhound. Sadly now our major city here in Oregon, (Portland), no longer has a depot. It is only a flag stop in a city of almost a million people! We fear that Greyhound may disappear completely. Many smaller cities here in Oregon have not bus service at all or has been replaced with inferior property tax supported services just as 1 of the drivers,( William Clements) said would happen. With deregulation of bus services in the 1980`s, he said professional drivers would be replaced with poorly trained drivers ill equipped . I rode with Bill many thousands of miles.

      Yes they were! The Greyhound terminal in LA was best closest for me from Huntington Beach where in my travels US had landed me at 17! .....I hitch hiked across America....I saw things at 17 I didn't know...All the way to California..from New Hampshire.... several rides from 18 wheelers, a severe lightening storm under an overpass in Texas..... Working for $3 for Man Power....I saw early development of Orange County from oil rigs. After 3 months, I missed my home, Falmouth, Cape Cod....

    Not one of the Canadian MC6s
    The Canadian MC6 has the 4-speed and the 12V71.
    The US MC6s were all retrofitted with the automatic and the 8V71
