Fascinating! I love Antiques Roadshow, especially stories like this one 😲👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏😊 This man was made if steel! Such guts and nerves 😊👍👍
A book about Todger`s life called Todger by Neil Thornton was recently released . Its a cracking read .
@@Aaron50001 that is very interesting. Having looked into the family tree 10 years ago, I happened across Todger Jones. A Great great Uncle I recall.
The only other recipient of the VC from the Cheshire regiment was my great uncle, Hugh Colvin. In the background , a bit fuzzy, is a photo of him and Todger Jones. Brave men both.
Shaun Colvin Todger was my Great Grandfather , nice to hear from you . You need to go to the Cheshire`s museum in Chester
@@Aaron50001 nice to hear from you, I have been to the museum several years ago and intend to return soon as I have my great uncle’s dress sword, scabbard and Spurs which I think should be in the museum. I also have a German flare gun which he found on the menin road, I used to fire table tennis balls out of it until my dad sawed off the trigger as this stopped the need for a fire arms licence. His VC was left to the museum in his will but there was a set of dress medals which he left to me so these will stay with me and be passed along in due course.
@@shauncolvin7928 That`s good Shaun , I have a gold medallion of Todger`s which is inscribed with his name followed by V.C. D.C.M presented to him by Runcorn Liberal Club in 1920 ,
@@Aaron50001 I’m a grandmother in the Caribbean enjoying this rich history. I salute these brave men! Valiant heroes. I’m very proud of you and Shaun for cherishing and sharing their amazing lives and their accomplishments with us. Unforgettable stories. God bless you both and your families
Amazing history!
He was my Great Grandad.
This is why I'm proud to be English.
Amazing!
Balls of an Elephant...
What’s the music at 2:18?
Ahh I’m from Runcorn
Pity she didn't give the grandson the trench art shell case
I did think of asking her if she wanted to sell it to me , but I could tell she cherished it .
Todger has a different meaning where I come from! Hung like a Rhino!
Please tell me she returned the casing to the family ?
No she didn`t , I was just amazed to see it on the show.
