- In this video I take a quick look at the Surecom Mcbazel SF-103 Frequency Counter. Coverage is 2MHz - 2.8GHz. It will give you the CTCSS tone or the DCS code of the received signal as well as signal strength.

This is useful Ray, it reminds me of the "close call" feature on certain radio scanners, thank you for the video 73 Daniella, North Yorkshire, UK.
Nice to hear from you Daniella. I remember the close call feature.
well Ray I bought his counter and I was really impressed. I use it also to make sure my antenna analyzer is on frequency. It gives pretty close accuracy of signal lever.
It is a nice piece of kit.
Bhi again ray mine turned to today from amazon.. I've found if you hit f4 to open the menu.. You can change the sensativity in fet level.. I've changed mine from 20 to 9. Below 9 mine picks up all the WiFi routers near me lol. So 9 on mine is fantastic. It picks up radios from a good distance cheers. Jess. M3zeg.
Hi Jess, that’s interesting. I’ll give it a try later. Cheers, Ray.
Bought one a few years ago and it works well I love it .. Thanks for sharing
Excellent!
I have the same unit and really like it. I wish it had some kind of memory so we could store some frequencies while out and about. Thanks for the video OM.
That would be useful.
Hours of mischief! I have a Rike RK-560. I may have to upgrade now. RAY!!! lol
Haha, it's all good fun!
This is a interesting looking frequency scanner.
Nice one, Ray. I can just see you as the next 007!
Now, there’s an idea! 🤣
Looks brilliant
Thanks Fred.
Thank you from Tasmania :-)
Thanks Tim!
Have you guys found that elusive tiger yet?
Looks like a decent device.
FWIW if you connect it to an external antenna I would be inclined to put a diode clamp across the input, for a short I had a Marconi Frequency Counter connected to my VHF antenna. worked great for a short while but killed the prescaler chip. These might be better protected, I guess it would be easy enough to fit clamp diodes internally...
Good thought. I don't think I'll risk it! Cheers for now, Ray.
will it work on hf an/fm/ssb?
It will only work on VHF or UHF frequencies that it's designed for. One to operate HF would be very long, just not practical.
@@g4nsj was it not rated for 2mhz up to 2.8ghz though ?
@@mi0lpo I can’t remember, I don’t think so.
I guess it's analogue only? 🤔
According to the spec it covers DMR radio frequency digital mode.
@@g4nsjI wonder if it can decode talk groups and colour codes? 🤔
😂😂😂 your very funny but definitely on the bucket list
@@MM0IMC I don't think so.
