    It's crazy to see the difference between the Netherlands and the UK in terms of rust. Although it rains almost as much in Holland then in the UK we have less salt around us i guess. If i compare my 20 year old Alfa 156 floor and the rest it looks so much better. Almost no rust at all. Only the windscreen/roof part there is a little on top as they all like to rust there.
    Nice you made it going for a long time again i hope. Hope you put a good undercoat on the floor of the car. It could sure use it.
    Maybe one day ill make the trip to the UK so you can do some small bits and bobs to the car and i can visit the UK once and you can show my old Alfa 156 1.8 with almost 200K miles on it on LPG.

    RHD, V6, Q-System 'box, Sportwagon... I wouldn't be surprised if the total number of cars built with this combo was in the two digits. It's a proper rare spec, and I'm glad it's been saved!

      Some imported to Japan. A few are finding their way to UK in great condition.

    Great work, we need to save more of these modern classics. Finding a decent garage is hard these days and I'm convinced some places will quote a silly number because they are not really interested in doing the work or don't have the skills. Welding for example seems to be a dying art. Fortunately I have a great local Alfa specialist looking after my 916 Spider.

    I remember watching an episode of Flipping Bangers. The boys purchased an Alfa. But the rust was so bad they’d had to scrap it.

    I love how in every video I see the sheer amount of rust and I'm like "OMG" and you continue on poking... "little bit of rust over here"... "but nothing too bad" 😂😂

    I don’t think i have ever seen a Q System 156 SW ever in that colour before , The ones i came across were silver but yes rare car even when new ( Even when i worked down the docks driving Alfas brand new prior to going to dealers on transporters )

    have a saloon q-system, 1000€ with a year MOT, 187k km`s... just for shits and giggles a nippy v6 with automatic, going to replace front and back suspension, and tickle the exhaust, freshen up the bottom tins and leaky steering box....

    At 10k the garage doesnt want the work is my guess and if they got the green light they'd be quids in for the supposed "hassle" of taking it on or having a large buffer built in should the jobs take longer than expected.

    • @ojmbvids
      @ojmbvids Před 16 dny

      I think you're on the money. But I think they did want the work - I reckon they thought they wouldn't have any competition for the job and knew how exclusive and worth saving it was, so they tried their luck

  • @leaulife569
    @leaulife569 Před 16 dny +1

    Quoting a huge amount is just their way of saying they are not interested in doing the job.

    The difference wasn’t that great and perhaps understandable given the unknown issues that may have cropped up. The rust you blokes get is horrendous, my 3.0 75 has not one speck of rust but I am in Australia
