- One of the toughest parts of logging is packing a haywire across thousands of feet of steep ground to put a skyline in place. It's dangerous and sometimes takes days. But a high power drone can eliminate that issue, taking just minutes to fly the haywire across mountaintops, dropping it into place.
In this video, we show how the drone moves the haywire and explain how tower logging works.
Wish we had this bad boy setting up our thunderbird. 8 guys, hanging a mile out, up an over cliffs, two ridge tops, two massive creeks. It took us over a week just to string the damn thing just to log it for 2 weeks at 12 mins a turn.. oh shit son forgot we needed a second slinger for the second ridge we couldn't see once we got to the bank end
I'm buying a minidrone to pull string for cable pulls at the top beam troughs of a warehouse. I thought of this idea at another job I was working at and came up with this idea of using a drone myself. I thought I was the first one to come up with idea but found on CZcams linemans and now loggers using drones for the same thing.
Still a great idea, though! But yes, it's amazing what drones can be used for, and the uses will only continue to expand.
