  • In this video review, Chris talks through our top 10 summer waterproof motorcycle gloves for 2020. We recently reviewed what we would term proper summer gloves; that is to say the kind of gloves you would wear on the very warmest, and totally dry, days. But actually, here in the UK, it doesn’t get that hot that often. And, of course, just because it’s beautiful and sunny when we set off on the bike, that doesn’t mean that the heavens are not going to open a few hours later. This is the UK! And so, arguably, lovely as genuine, summer gloves are to wear on the hottest of days, a more useful and wearable glove is what we would term the summer, waterproof glove; sometimes known as a two/three season glove. These gloves have a membrane but no thermal lining. You wouldn’t normally wear a glove like this in the winter, although with heated grips you can ride reasonably deep into the autumn with them. And when the temperatures are up in the thirties you might find them a bit sticky, but the summer waterproof glove is probably the most useable of any type of glove. In this review, Chris explains some of the technical issues and then looks at 10 of our favourite pairs. If you only wanted to wear one pair of gloves, this is the way you’d go.

Rukka's last me twice as long as any other I've tried, great feel, great comfort and totally waterproof. Expensive yes, If you use them for 9 months a year every day then maybe not so much. (oh Stadler gear is awesome too)

As always, great content by Chap in the cup! One question coming to my mind - is gore-tex going hand in hand with heated grips? Or there might be an issue in this regard?

Nah, those membranes pull out despite holding the fingers if the fit is good. Im still looking for that unicorn glove. I suspect the answer is a simple unlined leather glove and a waterproof over glove for when it rains. I’ve ended up preferring a cheap pair of loose Halverson gloves which have a liner over an entire box of expensive gloves. One thing never addressed is pulling on/off gloves in the pouring rain when you can’t dry your hands.

For many of us the price is going to be a major deciding factor. It would be very helpful if you mentioned the price range of each glove as you introduce it. It would save much time listening to long descriptions only to discover that a second mortgage would be required to buy them.

What's more you haven't provided links to price lists or even a copy/pastable text name to save retyping each model into google. Helpful, but could be more helpful.

Usually buy all my gear from Sports-bike shop. Thought I'd give these guy a try. What a BIG mistake. Without going into all the continuing grief caused I am still down £64.00 despite numerous efforts to obtain a refund. Now having to go through my Credit card company to get a refund. Very, very poor service. Never again. Back to Sports-bike shop !!!

We made a small error that in most situations would barely be worthy of note. Mr. Frost ordered a base-layer on May 11th. The system thought we had it in stock, but it wasn’t in the bin when we went to pick it. As the system thought his top was going to leave the building that night, his card was charged. This was a system/ procedural error. We communicated with Mr. Frost on the 15th about the timing of the resupply of his top. On Sunday 17th May the customer decided to cancel his order. On the Monday (18th) and Tuesday (19th) there was a conversation about the charge, which Steve in Customer Service wrongly presumed was merely a pre-authorisation on the customer’s card. On the Wednesday (20th), Mr Frost told us that he had been indeed been charged the £64 for the top. We acknowledged this the following day, refunded him, and immediately communicated that we had done so. It was not a big deal; a clerical error quickly put right. It was the day after we had refunded Mr. Frost that he left this response on CZcams. It constitutes a blatant lie as, by then, he had been refunded, and had been told so. Why he felt that he had been subjected to ‘continual grief’, we cannot say. He stated in his review that he was having to now go to his credit card to get a refund; again a lie as Mr. Frost knew he had been refunded the day before. Did we make a mistake? Yes we did, but we object to the unnecessary hyperbole and the untruths perpetrated by Mr. Frost for dramatic effect, in an attempt to besmirch our name. This would seem to be an anger management issue more than anything. It speaks more of Mr. Frost’s temperament, we would suggest, than of our conduct.
