I love the rooster, very proud looking guy, and I think they would make great pets, with the added bonus of an egg, great video, very informative, thank you 👍👍

Great video, very informative! I bought 3 marans early this year from a local Tractor Supply. They called them "mystic marans", and I can't really find info on that particular breed. It's as if the store just came up with a breed name, do you have any info on them possibly?

Sounds like a cross breed that they gave a fun name to. Do you have eggs from them?

You answered my question 😊 !!! I was wondering if the FBCM layed eggs over a longer period of time since they only produce 2 or 3 a week and now I know, thanks!

Slow to start laying apparently. I've only got one pullet 20-24 weeks old. No signs of laying soon that I can tell. Hope she comes along sometime soon. Poor thing is about 2 steps under the bottom of the pecking order and gets no respect at all except one rooster that she hatched with.

Hi! Thank you for your comment. Awe, poor girl! I have found some really do take their time. I've had bcm lay at 6 months, and one last year that finally laid an egg at 10 months. If she is from good lines, she will be worth the wait! They live longer too because they lay less eggs 😊

@@farmerjohomesteading I believe it. Noticed today her comb is brightening up a little but it's still small. She's such a sweet little bird and beautiful colors. Nice copper hackles and sparkling all over in green and purple. Colors of royalty! :) If she doesn't go broody I'll incubate some of her eggs. I really like the breed and she won't be alone too much longer.

    Ours are 7 months…
they’re great, but not one egg.
    Are BCMs late at laying?

Hi! Yes, they typically lay between 6-9 months of age. Some even up to 12 months.
